What if your only internet connection is over WiFi and not over Cat5? Does it need a separate WiFi dongle because the case is metal? Would you need to install a keyboard, mouse, and monitor to connect it to the internet over WiFi? And do you need to open ports on your router and forward a specific port to this BliKVM device to access your device remotely?

Does the pcie version need the pi to work ? Aliexpress has 2 versions, 1 with CM410200. What are the differences ?

To be clear, the BLIKVM hat does not "support" PiKVM or TinyPilot. Rather, the BLIKVM ships with no software of its own and instead makes use of the PiKVM 3.x software image, or the TinyPilot software.

Both the BLIKVM-HAT (video above) and the BLIKVM-CM4 (not pictured) take CR1220 circular batteries to power the onboard clock. The BLIKVM-HAT and the BLIKVM-PCIE solutions require a free PCIE slot on the back of your computer. The BLIKVM-CM4 does not, but only because it comes with a fixed length ribbon cable that connects directly between the power on/power reset pins on the motherboard and the BLIKVM-CM4 box itself. Most users will want to use the the PCIE bracket with the ATX port, which allows using an RJ45 to connect back to the BLIKVM-HAT, much like the PiKVM 3.x solution. Having built a couple of PiKVM 3.x units and some BLIKVM-CM4 units, I think the BLIKVM-HAT version shown above addresses a number of limitations found in the BLIKVM-CM4 low profile unit. The BLIKVM-CM4 has limited air flow, a noisy fan relative to the PiKVM, and runs noticeably hotter than any PiKVM box. The BLI CM4 is limited in where you can place it, relative to the power on/power reset pins on your motherboard because of the included fixed length ribbon cable (about 1' long). The BLIKVM-HAT and the PiKVM use a ribbon cable between your motherboard pins and the PCIE bracked with the ATX port, and then an RJ45 cable of whatever length connects back to the BLIKVM-HAT and PiKVM 3.x boxes. The BLIKVM boxes do not come with either the Compute Module 4 or a Raspberry Pi 4, so they are not complete "$99" solutions. If you can find a Compute Module 4 or a Raspberry Pi 4 (both must have at least 2GB RAM) at normal retail price, then the BLIKVM boxes all-in are about $100 cheaper than the PiKVM 3.x boxes, and cheaper still than the TinyPilot. But the PiKVM boxes are nice, the PiKVM website is really well organized, and in either case (whether you go with the BLIKVM or the PiKVM, you will be using the PiKVM 3.x image to either flash a microSSD card or the eMMC memory on your Compute Module 4 (See Pete Geerlings video about doing that). If you don't want to build anything, the TinyPilot would be the choice (also the most expensive). The BLIKVM-CM4 is extremely easy to build. The BLIKVM-HAT, like the PiKVM 3.x box, requires more steps but neither is difficult to put together. The reason to get these boxes instead of a cheaper, used iBoot G2 + personal use TeamViewer is that these boxes can boot into BIOS. When something really goes wrong, you usually need to check the BIOS and you cannot do that remotely with the iBoot G2 + TeamViewer. Also, look into Tailscale, it is easy to setup. And you can use an EZCOO 1-4 HDMI box to connect to multiple computers/motherboards with one BLIKVM or PiKVM box. I think most users will prefer this BLiKMV case over the older, lower profile, black BLiKVM case. The older BLiKVM case runs hotter and seems to have less air flow than, say, a PiKVM case. The other important difference is that with the older BLiKVM case, you get a set length ATX cable which limits where you can place the BLiKVM if you want to make use of the rebooting into BIOS feature, power on, reset features, which is probably the most important feature of these boxes (otherwise, get yourself a used iBoot G2 off eBay if you just need to power on/power off a computer remotely + TeamViewer for personal use). The only downside to the iBoot G2 is that if something really goes wrong, you can't remotely boot up into BIOS to check BIOS settings or apply an image from a connected USB thumb drive (and you only get power on/power off, not remote viewing or operation of the computer). You can do all of these things with the BLiKVM or the PiKVM boxes. This new BLiKVM box has more holes for air and it has moved to the ATX port / ATX bracket for the computer case, like the PiKVM solution. If you can find a normally priced Compute Module 4, the BLiKVM solution is (currently) about $100 cheaper than a PiKVM, whether or not you order the completely pre-built PiKVM module or assemble one yourself. And both are cheaper than the user-friendly TinyPilot.
