I'm pretty sure that the thinning is for Bare wood and you're putting thin varnish on plastic. It's not going to soak in. It's going to take more coats.

I experienced the same problem with blocks "hanging up" in my jig, and also checked out the Rockler jig. Problem, Rockler jig will not make an oval if the difference between major and minor axis is less than 3 1/2", my difference is 3". Question to you is, how do I make a 3" wide oval picture frame with a router jig? I know I can trace around my oval picture and than with a compass set at 3" trace the outside edge. Is this the only way? Thanks, Paul
