Bought Seventeen every month when I was a teen!

OMG, I could not wait for each month’s Seventeen Magazine to come. I would read it the entire month until the pages wore worn. Some clothes I could find in my area, but the others I would find as close in style as possible. I loved every page of style, makeup, etc. I so wish young girls had the equivalent. Tablets just are not the same!!!

While a young woman out of high school and working as a corporate office secretary, I would buy Seventeen and Glamour magazines and enjoy the fashion, makeup and lifestyle stories featured in those classy publications.

I love your channel. I appreciate that there is no music, talking or tapping noise. I enjoy the relaxing sound of page turning and think you spend enough time on each page so we can enjoy it. Some creators flip through too fast.I love the magazines and looking at vintage. I used to read Cosmopolitan all the time and remember every one of the covers. 😅

My stepmothers first marriage was in 1971 and the dress she wore was the one advertised at Taffys, the page next to the Wedding Album page. The lace is daisies. Loved that dr3ss . She still had it even after she married my dad in 1981, is was preserved and stored in that special box.

At 8.42, the ad for Reed & Barton Silver, the 3rd from the left is the Silver Sculpture pattern, which was my parents when they married in 1955:-).

I think Cosmo did a lot to educate young women about their health and contraception. Bravo!

I noticed most of the gowns showed no decollete, High necklines, loose fitting bodices. I love looking at these old magazines !

Gives me funpleasant flashbacks of my awkward teens trying to look like a model. Yecch. And, what seemed so important then - how many of those must-have brands still exist?

This was what inspired me

I love how the magazine opens with a flip-under cover, very reminiscent of music fanzines of the ‘80s. Jean Harlow lookalike @ 0:48, which doesn’t surprise me; her movies were rediscovered by a new audience, in the ‘60s decade. Chanel no.5 ad @ 1:43. Throughout the ‘90s, I wore Chanel makeup, the era of the rose scented Vamp lipstick craze, when the smell of irises emanated at the open and snap-shut sound of an elegant pressed powder compact, and fragrances: No.5 edp, Coco edt & especially the edp (subway doors slammed shut, train left the station, but my scent trail lingered!) also exclusives Cuir de Russie + Bois des Iles edts, when the spray caps were affixed to the 100ml bottles, made of thin glass, later on followed by parfum concentrations. A shimmery blue Cadillac, exact shade on second page @ 3:07, was the epitome of cool! And then, there was GUERLAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First smelled an older tester pre-‘86 formula, as a child, when my small hand reached for the fan-shaped older tester bottle at a local Macy’s counter. Later in the decade, discovered 💙L’Heure Bleue💙 + Mitsouko at a Sephora, one of two branches, located near Flatiron. Loving the classic green plaid shade @ 4:03. 😳🌲Gorgeous gangly trees at 9:37-959🌲❣️❣️ This issue is maximum class. The best glamor ads were reserved for Christmas editions, that’s for sure🤑🛍️🎁🎄‼️

Fashion magazines were pretty back then. The clothes today are ugly, hideous.

I loved seventeen. Nothing smelled as good as anything Yardley. I’d forgotten about those Bactine pads, they were great. Noxzema was fluffy almost. I enjoyed the smell, it wasn’t delightful but somehow compelling LOL.

Oh my, it's the holy Grail. Well not of my childhood but if you can get back into the '70s or the '60s... Oh it's Canadian. Well they probably had the same toys. What a great idea for a RUclips channel.

I have that Coppertone ad in my scrapbooks, with jill st. John. Ive kept scrapbooks since i was 13..i have 30 oversized Paramount scrapbooks..still in excellent condition.

Printed cotton blouses were very popular. I had several. Liberty prints from England.

Short and mid length hair was in. Why does every woman now have hair down to their rear ends?

Today the magazines like Vogue and Bazaar are UGLY!

I remember all of those brands, made in the USA too.

The hairstyles...you needed to set your hair to wear the flip.

Pend,Pending, made gorgeous woolen clothes. Expensive but classic.

I came of age mid sixties...I loved this magazine and I loved clothes. They were pretty clothes.

This is awesome… My mom was pregnant with me when this magazine came out… But I have to say, the hairstyles were probably the most hideous in American history… Just my opinion of course, but it’s so so cool to see the advertisements and just the way the models positioned themselves is very different than now… Thanks so much for doing this!❤
