I usually add some oil to them and that helps them naturally pop off over time. Whatever is left i cut out at the next wash day. Check my channel, I have an updated loc routine for him since he restarted his loc journey and i explain more in depth. Hope this helped 😊

Thank you so much! ❤️ Regarding the rubber bands, when they're oiled, some of them tend to pop on their own. However, I always make sure to remove them before the next wash. The few times we left them in during a wash, they trapped all the buildup and gunk, preventing a proper cleaning. I started my own loc journey as well, and initially, I tried keeping the rubber bands in to prevent my twists from unraveling, which unfortunately led to all the buildup creating a white line at the roots. We typically have wash days about once a month, sometimes slightly longer if the hair doesn’t feel dirty. His locs have matured a bit, so currently, we aren't using any rubber bands for him. & I completely agree with the idea of leaving the hair alone to strengthen and promote growth, even when I was a curly natural. Yes, when i do my own retwist it’s easier with the rubber bands. Then i cut them out after 2-3 weeks

@@FelderAlto Usually i wait til my next wash which could be in another 3-4 weeks after, unless my hair feels dirty. Right now I’m washing about every month and a half because I dont want the twists to unravel.. Or if my roots are grown out but my hair isn’t dirty and I’m going out to an event or a party I’ll make it neater by adding rubber bands. I def have to make video on my new hair routine 😄

Hey, so I usually put oil on the rubber bands before putting them in. So they will just pop off periodically after like 2-3 weeks. By the time he gets his hair washed again I cut the remaining rubber bands with a scissor and do the process all over again

Hey, I hope you’re enjoying being natural so far. I consider my hair to be between 3c - 4b, i have a lot of different sections of my hair that are all different in texture and porosity. I recommend also doing a porosity test because if you’re like me, I have low porosity so moisture takes a very long time to be absorbed in my strands and that can alter your hair care process

As far as hair typing, I say if you find videos on youtube that show a similar hair texture to yours they can help in your hair care product selection, but its all about learning what works for you as far as products, moisture intake, and frequency of washing. Hope this helped ❤️

@@iamsaekomarley I've had permed hair since a freshman in high school long hair but over the years my hair was damaged because I wasn't taking care of it. So three years ago cut it went natural it grows but I end up having rough ends and having to trim alot ( wearing alot of protective styles that's not so protective) OK so my hair is hard is hard to work with and stays dry. What do you do to retain moisture

Thank you, and yes I’ve been the one doing his hair the past 5 years now. I find it to be better than gels because it minimizes buildup and makes wash days much simpler. Water reactivates the gel. Once i do this style I can have it for 1-2 weeks. I use gel for my edges or to redefine curls but not alot all over my head. Checkout my video *EASY* How to refresh a wash and go ❤️

Hi, saw your comment a few months late. Have you ever tried wetline xtreme? It is formulated with aloe. It’s the only gel ive used since Eco style. Also, what edge controls have you been using? It could also be the method in releasing your edges from the gel. Sometimes my edges are so fragile that it will just break off if i don’t wet them first or use oil.

@@iamsaekomarley funny you should mention it bcuz I just started using wetline and it is amazing!! With id found it sooner. I’ve used all diff types of edge control, my hair doesn’t like any of them. It suffocated my scalp too much.

That’s good to hear! I feel like it helped train my curls in the early stages, as long as you keep it moisturized and detangled for the most part, and don’t go too long without washing it’ll minimize breakage and help your hair grow faster for sure! ❤️❤️❤️

@@iamsaekomarley Right do you think it's possible for us as black women to grow our hair without putting braids it in ?? I have a constant fear of wearing my natural hair because growing up I was always taught your hair constantly needs to be tucked away in box braids etc but as I'm getting older now certain styles that were projected on me caused my hair my harm than good and I just want to break that mentality that you don't specifically need that in order to grow healthy hair 🙂

I definitely think its possible without extensions, my hair has grown ALOT since my mini chop video. Id you check out my ig IAMSAEKOMARLEY you can see a few vids, I recently dyed it (video coming soon) and ive just been keeping it moisturized and braiding my natural hair with no extensions for about 3 months straight and it has shown so much growth. Many times we neglect our hair because it takes a lot of time to care for it properly. So when i know i don’t have time i make sure to braid it up so that when i sleep it doesn’t cause tangles or friction rather than my hair being in a bun for 2 weeks. Ive seen major improvement, but for me being low porosity washing my hair every weekend helps keep it very moisturized and I’ve noticed a big difference. You just need to try some new things, wash and gos, braids, twist outs, it all depends on what your hair enjoys more

Hi! His hair closest to scalp dries up pretty fast for the most part. When im not filming, i retwist his hair out in the sun so that helps alot with drying time, and once I’m done I dry the ends up with a towel.
