i just finished the game, its definitely alot to take in and honestly im not really sure what i thought about it aside from 'its good'. maybe ill dig around it again to see the dialogue options i missed or something, at least the post illustrations are a great read ps the x10 speedup bit during the lockbox was a nice touch

The Japanese SMRPG cart art is meant to look like a Final Fantasy game as an homage to Square's involvement, but the LEGO-looking Mario model just doesn't hit the same as a Yoshitake Amano painting. 😂

Comparing a PS5 with a Switch is like comapring a lamborgini with a bicycle. Both have their own merits but are in no way in the same league. I use my PS5 for all the big AAA games, and the Switch for mostly indie games (or nintendo only games) mostly in handheld. I love both for what they do and offer in terms of gaming. The day I finally get a Steam deck is probably the day I put my switch down for good.

I know this was just a click bait framing device to talk about the games but the take was so bad me (and it looks like a lot of other people) found it distracting.

switch is not intended to be used for multimedia, it is purely for gaming. that's why you have your phone to browse something on the internet.

Here's the thing: I don't think we NEEDED this. I didn't hear a single soul talking about a remake of this game out loud on the internet before the first trailer came out. Despite it being very old and definitely benefiting from a remake, not many people were asking for it. But they did it anyway. I think THAT'S the big thing we need to focus on. Nobody was asking for this, but they knew we would love it, so they made it regardless. I may not have been a fan of the game before the remake, but I feel if I were, I would appreciate that. I respect opposing opinions though!

The rise of skywalker is 1000 times worse than the last Jedi. TLJ may not hold up to scrutiny but at least it’s fun to watch. ROS is boring and painful to sit through

I appreciate this analysis. It gives me some thoughts to consider. From my understanding of the Pokemon discourse, the lack of voice acting primarily feels off in combination with the more realistic graphics that have characters visibly moving their mouths. The more toylike aesthetic of the remaster might lend itself better to the choice of no voice acting. I wouldn't be opposed to the option for those that want it, though I could understand it disincentivizing the expense. On the other hand, I would admittedly consider it an odder decision if they chose to add voice acting to the upcoming TTYD remaster. Perhaps it's the more storybook aesthetic of that series that makes it feel inherently out of place, like having your book speak aloud to you as you read it. Your section at the end really speaks to me. I think everyone wants to find that sense of belonging and shared interest, and those connections can be difficult to come by. I do belive that we needed a remake of mario rpg simple because it s an old snes game that gets overlooked by other games.We never got a proper sequal to the game so why not a remake.And now that nintendo and square are in good terms we can probably get a proper sequal.Now a remake of paper mario ttyd is what we don t need
