I live in Vienna (basically the same latitude) and my way to beat seasonal depression is basically make it till christmas/ new year by ignoring the shorter days by just vibing with the christmas spirit and going to christmas markets (we have a bunch here) and drinking mulled wine and punch and then when it kicks in I just remember that the shortest day is already behind me (21st of december) and the day with the latest sunset is even farther behind me (like dec 15th) and that keeps me from getting it Also here the sun sets at 4 pm in the winter 😭😭😭😭😭 I think because of how the time zone is arranged, but what is almost worse than no sunlight to me is when there are just grey skies and or fog when sunlight is supposed to be there, that makes me ten times more depressed honestly

I love seattle, this year has been my first year I spent here. I came from an all year sunny place, where I have been depressed all the year, but when I came here to Seattle, I did get welcomed by the super nice and friendly locals, and I didn't even feel the hardships. Regarding depression, the Vitamin D supplements have helped me so much, and I did really notice the difference, you don't notice the difference in a week but you'll definitely notice it in a month, in your sleep and the stability of your mood. I have been lucky too, that I witnessed the snow this year in Seattle, especially the mix when the sun comes out too. I love Seattle, and Seattlites. <3

I’ve never minded Seattle winters; i don’t get SAD. i do take vitamin d because my doctor recommended it but i can’t really tell if it helps. I do a lot of baking in the winter. Satisfying, tasty, and cozy. For board games, i really like wingspan, terraforming mars, and spirit island. Those are all longer and more rules-heavy compared to dominion and Catan in my experience. Those shots of Seattle winters are really nice. I can't wait to move to the PNW. I totally get the feelings of depression, so your advice about having hobbies and staying active is solid. I’m planning to get into painting and picking up the trumpet again. And yeah, getting up early is the way to go! I’m vegan now, but every now and then, I still have salmon-those salmon patties are chef’s kiss. Always great when you drop a video!

Average Missouri winters. Sunrise around 7am. Sunset around 5:30pm. Temps range from around -0 to 60. Snow ranges from 1 to 20" with freezing rain. Seattle sounds great. 👍

The time to take a promotion that you don't feel ready for is when you're young. When you're young you can handle that load and go back to the easy button job if you don't like it. If you try to get that job in 10 or 20 years, nobody is going to take you seriously. Same applies for having kids, buying a house, and all the other things that young people think are 'too hard'. Visited my daughter who moved to Washington State from England and loved it. WE visited Seattle twice and watched her graduate from the Uni there. Would love to revisit it. We even went and paid our respects to Bruce and Brandon Lee.

I just watched this video and you laid out things with charm and charisma! You should consider doing more on other areas in the pacific northwest for starters. You'd be surprised how many ppl like me live out east and west coast dream or are just curious about life across the Mississippi. We'd watch everything you put out! You're good at this. You should do one on North California. Portland and the Oregon coast. There's a serious lack of content about these places.

As someone who HAS lived in most US large cities recently. I will say crime isn't as high as some other cities. It's safer in terms of conventional crime. The likelihood of getting mugged is lower. Whoever the likelihood of getting decked by someone having a mental health crisis is waaaaaaaaaaay higher in Seattle than most other cities.

Damn the numbers you shared just shows how expensive life is. Just imagine if you did own a car and had to pay state income taxes.

The good thing about Seattle is no state income tax. I live in Hawaii and work in finance and also want to do trades with my own money. The capital gains tax is a bit high here but I heard Washington State changed their laws regarding capital gains tax but ordinary income is still not taxed on a state level.

My motto is live outside of Seattle and visit only occasionally.

The real simple trick is to always live below your means any way possible, and invest sanely. If someone is in the average to below average wage bracket then it is very difficult, but if you do not figure out a way to live below your means you will always be poor. I think it is valuable to listen to youtube gurus once in a while, but only with a skeptical mind. There is a lot of good advice mixed in with the garbage, try to learn which is which. My best trick though is to learn to not want to be "Rich". I have learned to value being financially secure as more important than being rich. If you can find a happy life that cost much less than you make, then I think you have one at life. The way I do that last part is that I literally ask myself, self what free and very inexpensive things do you like to do for entertainment. I do more of those fun things than fun things that cost a lot of money.

So true about low quality products from supposed top brands. It's not just clothing. Try buying a blender or a tool or really anything. It's junk compared to the 90's or earlier. Even cars are just junk now. My Toyota pickup is 23 years old and it's better than my friends 5 year old Toyota pickup

I find that when it comes to a drink at the bar, to keep it in budget and make it more fun, you can pick an arcade like bar or one with some type of game (anything from Jenga to pool, to darts or ping pong), they’re usually really economical or free. You get to gage your date and how they react in quasi competitive scenarios, you can avoid getting stuck in small talk, and you both drink less since you’re busy playing for an hour or so, usually just one drink, or two tops, which makes it economical.

I got a job offer for $25/hr Amazon delivery job, am looking for a 2nd job as a server or my use corporate background to landa FT job in marketing/sales, and for ways to cut costs dramatically to be able to save in what seems to be a more expensive city overal than Brickell, Miami, FL, where I currently live rent-free.

Snow is the best time to drive in Seattle because there are no cars on the road. Just make sure you know what you're doing and preferably have winter tires.

Moved to Tampa, FL last fall and never been so happy! Seattle is a overpriced BS.

They have all the pets bc they replace people in their lives. They treat their dogs 10x better than they treat ANY human, even including speaking to them while they totally ignore people. It's a horrible place unless you're very young, a criminal, or an addict (including alcoholics).
