Marvel Hates The Punisher
Просмотров 24 тыс.11 месяцев назад
Forgot to mention the punisher logo being used for blue lives matter, I think that’s why Disney is trying to distant themselves from the character and they also changed his logo, which is pretty stupid because the punisher is a murderous vigilante that works outside of the law. As you can see Disney didn’t think too hard about this.

    It is a shame, cause The Punisher is a very interesting character, and a very different perspective of what a hero is, the definition of an anti- hero, and it's annoying they're trying to take that away, replacing it with " Hero that kills the irredeemable big bad"

    Both HASBRO and TODD are cutting corners, no doubt, but HASBRO have outright been extracting the urine for longer, having the Marvel licence for, what, over ten years now. Childish looking sculpts, overall, with occasional flashes of better quality figures, wildly inflated prices for objectively sub-standard product, keeping the HASBROS giddy. The articulation looks fifteen/twenty years out of date, almost every unit is a reuse of a reuse, madly overpriced; that's the biggest toy company in America being, to put it politely, complacent. To not be so polite, they're overtly insulting, and squeezing their customers' wallets empty, putting out mostly infantile level product. Compare the entire HASBRO Marvel Legends line to, say, the old DC collectables, or even essentials, and the DC stuff still, in more cases than not, look better. The TODD stuff looking too real isn't really something I see as a legitimate complaint. Sure, not matching to the source material, which is a bug bear, is crappy, yet the sculpts are, at least, decent, even when they're a blatant mismatch to what many of the figures are supposed to represent. Yeah, TODD is losing people because of that. That's fair. The overall lack of accessories is another insult that almost ALL companies love to practice, as they are always looking to scam the customer, so as to dishonesty cream more profit, which ain't right. Never will be. Right now, I'm looking at the recent Mcfarlane BRAINIAC figure, with the tentacles, and my HASBRO Marvel Legends IRON MAN ENDGAME figure. No way would that IRON MAN figure ever top a list of best to worst against the BRAINIAC. Marvel Legends look cheap, even the best of them, and generally the lack of a good sculpt, and painting on detail which could have been actually molded, is a crime, a cheapness, that has entirely prevented me from buying ANY of the HASBRO stuff for years now, and I say that as a massive Marvel fan boy. I go to SELECT, as default these days, for my Marvel fix, and SELECT hardly put out anything. Sorry, man, but I can't not comment on a video where HASBRO, EVER, wins out over TODD. That's literally comparing a child's toy line to an adult's line, and giving the win to the child's toy line, which is barely a level above being a happy meal toy. Mcfarlane has a lot of work to do, which is a problem which ought not exist, and the line is far, FAR from where it should be....but, at least the plastic quality is better, and you could rarely ever confuse a Mcfarlane collectable with a Happy Meal cash grab. That Sonic Figure is all kinds of awesome, btw, to end on a happy note, so KUDOS! Also....the JADA stuff is on a roll. Nice vid, and automatic follow. Keep geeking, matey.

    While I do collect McFarlane action figures I prefer way more marvel legends because you’ll get different figures per month. Where with McFarlane there’s about 3 to 4 to 5 Batman action figures per month and yes, while Marvel legends does have their wolverine and Spider-Man figures that they give you won’t get 4 to 5 Wolverines or 4 to 5 Spider-Man figures per month. You’ll probably get it yearly but not per month like the way McFarland does it. Plus, it took nearly 5 years to get a classic wonder woman action figure from McFarlane ? Plus McFarlane is starting to suffer breakage on their figures just coming out of the package go research the flash figure that he recently released I’ve been getting post after post on Reddit of buyers complaining about breakage that doesn’t make him look good Nah sorry I’ll stick with more of legends and I’ve been with them for 20 years. I love Hasbro

    Mcfarlane figures are cheap trash for the most part, that's coming from a bigger DC fanboy than I am with marvel. I still respect people who collect them though as I do see the appeal of having that large of a dc figure library. Marvel legends are in the most common scale, are much more proportionate, and have consistent scale in comparison. I will give credit where credit is due, they have made some improvements but for a modern toy company and THE MAIN line for DC toys their work is just unacceptable. I will say however they are amazing at big figs and I like to incorporate them into my Mezco DC collection.

    I don't think I could blame them if they did hate him, he's not really that interesting of a character, at the end of the day. I heard somewhere that Stan Lee didn't like him because of just how family unfriendly he is. To me he always seemed like the type of character that adolescents think is really grown up, because they see anything that's "extremely adult" as though it's culturally "mature." In reality the things that prevent that maturity from being a core part of his character is the space he occupies with other Marvel characters like Spider-Man. It's not that he's a family unfriendly character surrounded by family friendly characters. He's a family unfriendly character who by association faces family friendly consequences. Joker will never stay in prison? Neither will Frank Castle. Because they are both mainline comic book characters. Did he _accidentally_ kill innocents? Frank would never _(accidentally)_ do that. (Because that's how accidents work.) Surprise! He was set up! Aren't you surprised guys? It's baby stuff.

    He is a deeply misunderstood character. Fans and critics think he is just a violent as fuck vigilante. That's the surface level but what's more interesting is that he legitimately loves violence and is unable to stop. It's not that society failed so badly and he does what has to be done. Maybe he tells himself that sometimes. The dude is broken and loves violence. His redeeming quality is that he knows that he shouldn't hurt innocent people so he targets the worst of the worst. Not for justice but to get his fix. Dude is a violence junkie and that is actually a really interesting thing to explore. He isn't supposed to be aspirational. Just fun to watch.

    I love Bernthal as the Punisher, but the way "new" Marvel is going with storytelling is so sad. They try to make people hate stuff from the dark era and make everything PG. It's like they don't know how to make a decent story anymore. Idk what happened, ask Spider-Man fans about Paul, or how Carol Denver is the all time Mary Sue. Or wtf the All New Avengers was. It's not just comics for a different audience. It feels like its comics for an audience that doesn't exist. Marvels holds onto the MCU for survivals and this is also going down in the same path. I guess Marvel Rivals is their new money pig or something.

However, since Punisher Max has become more popular in the mainstream universe people have been trying to turn Frank into some psychopath. Before Garth Einnis this was not the case, but it was to an extent.

  • @RadtechCustoms175

    First let me start off saying, thank you for the video, not everyone can do this, have the patience or articulation to do stuff like this. I collect both, I have way more marvel and dc figs, but it’s not a fair fight when u pick arguably 2-3 of the best marvel figures and 1 of the DC. Batman has a lot of reuse… way too much, but how many DC figs have original sculpt a lot more than Marvel. Marvel has pinless arms and legs but they still produce figs with pins. How many Spider-Man figures can’t do splits, all of MsFarlanes can, u didn’t show that. McFarlane uses double ball in the neck/head and torso , so how does marvel win articulation? For me at a minimum it’s 2-2 and then a 5th category to break the tie IMO Marvel would probably take any 5th category because it’s just a better IP. McFarlane has his hands into too many things. If he focuses solely on DC, it would be way better and have tons more non Batman or bat family figures.

    • @lfabio.n
      @lfabio.n 17 дней назад

      I would say that the best McFarlane DC figure would be way better than the best Hasbro Marvel figure, at least in my opinion. I really liked the 80th anniversary body mold for Hulk but I think McFarlane's Bane Mega Figure is better. Also, McFarlane's more used body molds for Superman is, in my opinion, much better than other popular characters sculpts for Hasbro Marvel's main characters sculpts, aside from the 80th anniversary Iron Man. What makes the infected Superman mold better in my opinion, is that, the way McFarlane did it, you can fix the problems of height and articulation reassembling the figure like some RUclipsrs have shown. I can't make the same on Hasbro figures, they are what they are. 75 degree bend on the double joints and very noticeable cuts on the crotch and waist.

    • @suhtangwong
      @suhtangwong 7 дней назад

      Mcfarlane also made figures with pinless joints but mainly dish out pins. And no matter how many IP mcfarlane has, he's not going to improve on the dc figures such as proportions. He's had it for years and they haven't improved on quality, it's like the same thing every year. Sure a good fig here and there but with lots of bad articulation and proportions. I don't want a Barbie doll with small body and legs 3x it's body. I will give props to his bigger figures, besides articulation, they are pretty good. The new Marvel statues are amazing work as well, why can't he use those proportions for his 7in scale?

    I slacked off a lot on legends in favor of McFarlane stuff. They have a better scale that goes with more of my collection (Neca, Diamond select, and masterverse), better detailing with sculpts and textures, and better more aesthetically pleasing articulation. I also think it’s weird when people hate on the McFarlane diaper piece when marvel legends should use that. I’ve gotten so many figures from legends lately that can barely kick forward and can’t kick back at all for that piece being hard plastic. I think even joes use that diaper kinda piece if I’m not mistaken. I also think it’s double standard with the ball jointed diaphragms on legends. A lot won’t move up or down and barely side to side like on Wolfsbane, hydra cap, blood storm, hallows eve, astonishing wolverine, and numerous others. A lot of legends have the same, if not worse articulation than a McFarlane figure.

      Also, what people call "diaper" piece, to me, looks way more similar to what these characters look like in the source material. They don't have huge gaps in that area. Imagine the Christopher Reeve for example, you being able to see the top end part of the thigh and a gap between the thigh and the crotch area. I don't know if I was able to describe what I see, but what people call diaper, actually in my opinion makes the transition way more subtle and seamless, like they're wearing something, I'll never understand why people say this. The "butterfly" caps on McFarlane is not for everyone, as you have to place them upwards in neutral poses, so the figures can look better.

Dc figures I have can barely kick 90 degrees, the diaper piece is overly large. I do agree ML needs to update to diaper piece but not by the standards of dc, not even mafex. They all should take notes from jada or storm collectibles. You can pose very well with those lines, but jada is very stylized, they remind me of mattel heman figures or fisher price toys, just very soft sculpts. Storm Collectibles are huge and very pricey and hard to find. If all toy company gotten together and take notes, it would be amazing for us collectors.
