What the so called "JBL BASS BOOST"/ " LOW FREQUENCY MODE" function actually does. Don't use!
Просмотров 77 тыс.7 лет назад
Hello again this video demonstrates what the so called JBL "bass boost" mode does to your JBL speaker. I felt the need to make this video because I am a responsible speaker demonstrator and would never put anything on this channel that would cause damage to your devices. Using this certain key combination which I have purposely not revealed for a certain amount of time deactivates JBLs limiter ...

I've seen people on RUclips doing this and it sounds awful to me. I grew up at the time bass is supposed to be at a certain frequencies, not heard. Subwoofer in the trunk and vibrating your spine baby. I'm for that sound.
Who would even like that nasty boost sound? smh
Low frequency mode more like high distortion mode
I got a charge 5 and flip 5 they make a good pair also I like flip 3’s
Watching this with the same color jbl flip 4
The reason some people do it is because they love it how the passive radiators moves like mad, sometimes snapping and flying off
THE SONG HE USES IS CALLED: Recollection by A-GON
More interested in what's in the middle of that log it's on lol wonder how that happened
Didn't expect the top to pop off, but that thing is still rugged. Good test. 😃
Great bass?
Very good yes, it's surprising for the size of it! :)
I tried IT in my go2 Speaker ..and IT Went Off .immediately..think IT has an overload Protection circuit
Hello, I’ve just got one of these second hand. Should the internal fan spin? The external fan spins perfectly when you turn it on, but the internal one seems to do nothing.
Yes the internal fan should spin. :)
My guy just pressure washed a speaker lol
I did indeed and it's still working today. Although the seal has failed slightly so it's no longer fully waterproof.
Just bought my JBL speaker earlier charge four and a mate told me about how you can get a shit ton of bass it doesn’t sound very healthy eh
Never go with black colour 🤡
It's covered in paint and dust now as I use it as a work speaker. It still works and sounds good though. :)
I have a jbl essential and i don't know which one is the bass boost because i think its default mode is the bass boost mode. Please tell me the differences
I can't advise I'm afraid as I no longer keep up to date with speakers. Nor do I upload videos on this channel anymore. I just monitor the comments from time to time. :)
great video
Thanks!
I still don't understand how it doesn't cancel each other out. If the driven speaker moves out, the passive sucks in, how is it creating sound and bass with pressure? There must be some way they designed it to 180 this otherwise I don't see how it would work
Me neither, like you said there must be a way :)
fantastic video! the explanation was great and the demonstration very clear
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! Do you think there may be more factors causing that significant increase in low end performance? - or just the passive radiators. I have used passive radiators on my builds with less difference, and am wondering if any additional factors are contributing
I don't think so no, I think that's the only thing JBL use.
I have a question why is it when i enable low freaqency mode my speaker has less bass?
Other people have said this too, I'm not sure I'm afraid.
My understanding is, Turning this mode disables their preset EQ and turning off the sound limiter The default EQ gives it some boosted bass, but takes away the lowest sub bass frequency’s, and gives a boost to the very high’s as well. Giving the default sound signature a safe bass boosted feel, but if you switch modes, yeah it sounds like less bass, but if you listen close- the super low frequency’s arnt cut out I like turning the EQ and limiter off for EDM music, but I keep the volume low This way I can use the EQ on my phone and not worry about JBLs built in EQ trying to cut out frequencies I enjoy Use with Caution, If you turn the safety off, then crank the bass on your phone, you’ll blow the drivers
And alot of people think that they are subwoofer
Yep it seems like a common misconception.
What is dsp
DSP stands for Digital Signal processing.
I blew my Charge 4 doing this and the woofer and passive ripped :/
Oh dear, not good :(
I first connect my charge 4 then when I connect my flip5 the charge 4 won't stops playing music. If I connect my flip 5 first the charge 4 won't play at all unless I shut my flip 5 off----any suggestions
I can't help you with that I'm afraid. As i'm unable to buy new products because I haven't got 1,000 subscribers yet so can't monetise this channel. :(
your awesome more people need to know this it will destroy your speakers
Thank you! Yes I agree. :)
I want to diy make this one for tda...
If you reset your device is the mode also off then?
I believe so yes :)
@@aspieblokesworld1890 thats all i needed to hear. Thanks
thanks for making this video 3 years ago I just got a JBL Flip 5 this month and didn’t know about the mode and I was going to use it until I saw this video now I’m not going to use it at all and I’m so glad I clicked on this video, so thank you
No problem!
Nice i will sub now!
Thank you :)
Hey I’m looking at getting it and really all I need it to do is have a clear sound and be loud enough for everyone in a decent sized backyard to be able to hear it, is this the right one for me?
The flip 4 is surprisingly loud for it's size however, i'd recommend a larger device for your application.
Excellent demonstration. Great job.
Thank you!
I accidentally dropped my jbl flip four into water and now the four buttons are not functioning please tell me is it going to be normal or not??? Please reply soon im so much worried about this...i love this speaker..
If all ports were sealed and the device hasn't been dropped or damaged then you shouldn't have a problem. Press one passive radiator in, does the one on the other end push out and stay out? If not then your device isn't sealed properly which could've caused your problem. I hope this helps :)
I got mine for $50
Awesome, enjoy!
My flip 5 has this mode activated automatically. Its so annoying, because i dont want this mode, everytime i turn the speaker on, i have turn the lfm mode off.
I haven't got the Flip 5 so I can't help you I'm afraid
Thank you
You're welcome :)
Mine is activated by default. When I turn speaker on and Do this combination it turns this Mode off. Red LED and absolutely no Bass. Whats the issue? Also my flip 4 turns of after a few Minutes and show only 1 Red LED. When I connect charger it shows 4 LEDs. It always only charge 4 LEDs. Any ideas? Got another flip 4 which always only show 1 Red LED. But battery lasts how it should crazy shit
Hmmmm that does sound strange. That would be a job for JBL I think
jbl made 2 versions of flip 3 TL and ND this one is ND
Oh really? I wasn't aware of that, thanks :)
On xtremes both u cant Tell if is on or not i have xtreme 2 im scared also does it also get destoyed at 100procent vol
I don't have the Xtreme 2 so I can't help you with that i'm afraid. If the mode is deactivated then the device should safely go to 100% volume with no issues. But again as I don't have the Xtreme 2 I don't know for sure. I recommend staying under 75% for the best sound quality.
Just in case you accidently spray your speaker with a hose
Well, we have to test for these things haha :)
tbf most people that buy jbl speakers know fuck all about speakers and how they work so they don't understand that a feature that is hidden and not advertised is done we on purpose
Yep, if it was supposed to be used then JBL would tell everyone.
Alternative name for the video , How to clean the JBL Flip 4 ( Extreme )
Good idea, that seems more fitting I must say haha :)
My friend says jbl is removing lfm😭 (im a bass tester)
Good as it can damage the speaker.
How to diable this mode... Pls help
I have replied to so many comments similar to this. to deactivate use the same key combination used to activate it.
I believe that, for responsible users, the disabling of the DSP can still be good. First of all, even professional speakers can be broken when you push them beyond distortion - but one can notice when distortion shows up and just lower the volume or lower just the bass. Second, disabling the DSP produces a more accurate sound, which is a shame to miss. And it's very easy to go back too, one can go back and forth.
I agree however, as can be seen in many JBL “bass test” videos here on RUclips users aren’t always responsible. speakers distort for a reason!
I always thought pr's are subwoofers. Its the biggest lie of my life.
Nope, you're not alone though. I think its quite a common misconception
Nice vid
Thanks! :)
For me it seems to be reversed. Because when I activated this "mode" the bass got worse. And when I deactivated the mode the bass got way better. I even turned the speaker off and on again and the bass was the same. So is it just or me or something?
A lot of people have said this, unfortunately I’m not sure why this happens on some devices.
if you turn off your device and turn it off again, the mode is also deactivated
I'm not sure on that one but if it works for you great! :)
I have a pulse 4 and really thought they were subwoofers, I found out they were passive radiators early today but I’m surprised cause the the pulse 4 has a crazy good bass.
The passive radiators are the reason it has a good low end performance :)
