But this duel is from the same tournament Luna was in. Absolutely the DUMBEST ending to this season. Instead of us getting to see Yubel fusion summon the Ultimate Fusion God, we get this ridiculous 50 Shades of Twilight soul fusing love triangle ending. 😑 P.S. Also, everyone magically returns back alive except for one unfortunate soul, 'cus plot. 🙄 P.P.S. Yubel's psycho preaching about *ITS* yandere love for Judai in the original japanese will never cease to disturb me. The Light of Destruction really did a number on the abomination.

Black Rose Dragon has always been the direct antithesis to Stardust Dragon in every single way, more than Red Daemon's Dragon, the supposed "rival" ever had. Both their colors literally contrast each other. Black Rose Dragon is, as obvious in its name, is BLACK. While Stardust Dragon (unless you're color blind) is literal WHITE. Their poses in their card art literally mirrors each other facing opposite directions. Both Signer Dragons' FIRST effect are the complete OPPOSITE of each other. Black Rose Dragon is all about destruction, destroying EVERYTHING, even if it means its OWN self-destruction. Which reflects Aki's own personality, as well as the destructive tendency and nature of her psychic powers. While Stardust Dragon is about protection through selfless self-sacrifice, which ties perfectly with Yusei's OWN character as exhibited in his duel against Aki here. Yusei wasn't just dueling to beat Aki, he was dueling to save Aki from herself. Man, the duels in season one 5D's felt peak for the characters. It showcase the skill and dueling potential of every main character without plot shenanigans.

Honestly this battle was genuinely so funny to me. Wolfram spends the entire fight getting his ass handed to him by Light using a Portalcraft deck for the first time, and at the end Wolfram wins by bullying Light (a child) for having childish motivations (reminder, a child) and not living up to his unfair savior standards that he aggressively forced onto said-child by streaming the battle live, and proves his point by topdecking an absurdly busted card all protag-style that effectively does 20 damage for free if you don't have any damage reduction effects in play. Honestly? Great villain. Absurd, sure. But the absurdity is what's entertaining about it.

I still can't get over the fact that Kuon got a better animation for the Destined King than Akina's Fated King and HE STILL LOST! Such a shame!

Oh, I forgot to add that Shion's best fight for me was definitely the thrid one with Wolfram because it was FIRE! Against Shinobu it was good (for the time) but against Wolfram? Every single time was better than the last. DAMN!

Solid list tbh. Although, I would replace Light vs Tsubasa with the Erde one, because THAT SHIT WAS CRAZY! Also, the best girl, Andrea, didn't even get a spot here when her deck is just AMAZING and her fights are always cool af (even though most of them include Tsubasa). Also, I hate to agree with this, but Ryoga really did get the short stick overall. Love him to death, but my man was wasted. Finally, I think the first battles with the 3 edgy boys (Haruma, Mikado, Ryoga) deserve a spot in the honorable mentions. Those battles were the best in the show up until the last 2 arcs were out.

I would never expect Yuamu of all people to have a new mechanic introduced in the series (much less 2 since she also has contact fusion). Like, seriously YUAMU, of all people? Zwijo or even Yudias would make more sense than this, since they are aliens and main protag and rival. Idk. The writers seem to have just wanted to make her useful FOR ONCE and they kinda overdid it.

Fun fact: I called that Sybilt was inside future Hikari because OF COURSE! But I didn't expect that she was making her sick or that the incident of the Myodos was THAT important to EVERYONE or that Nao has some relation with Sybilt. How could I possibly know this after all, but at least I was right about 1/4 of all the twists. That is a win in my book.

Idk man. The Taizo vs Kyuma fight was good, but THE CHEMISTRY AND DIALOGUE BRO! UNREAL! SURREAL! Top friendship in all of Vanguard! (Okay, this is kind of a hyperbole but you get the point)

my thoughts on each fight: Suo vs Kuon: I don't think this fight did what they wanted it to do for me. I feel like Kuon is definitely weaker than Suo, which is the opposite of what they wanted me to feel. other than that, 6/10. Taizo vs Kyohma: The best fight of the arc hands down. Their dynamic is great, plus the argument of priorities vs dreams is one that I resonate with. 10/10. Masanori vs Jinki: A great fight, albeit not a very impactful one. The final turn definitely harms this one a bit too. 7/10. Mikoto vs Yuna: Mikoto was already best girl, but this matchup brought out the best of her character. Yuna's already grown on me too. 9/10. Nao vs Senka: A solid fight, but I wish Senka wasn't so 1-dimensional. 7/10. Akina vs Hikari: Hikari's deck seems so fun. Other than that, Akina feels unusually weak character-wise in this fight, which I know is intentional, but still brought down the excitement for me here. Other than that, I'm looking forward to Hikari's next matchup. 7/10.

I don't think the problem with this fight is the ending, since it took inspiration from the Itsuki and Subaru vs Erde where the DFs evolve and work together to beat the big bad guy. No no no. The real problem is that Himmel seems very weak to her other 2 counterparts. She has an aggro deck, that gets cleared every turn with little to no effort and when it's not, IT DOESN'T DO NOTHING! Himmel was just like the little sister of the other 2, that isn't that powerful, but still bears the name regardless.

Did anyone else notice that Kuaidul has an alternate look for his "Transamu Rainac"? It looked a lot more closer to "Transamu Praime Armor Nova" than the one that we we all know and love of Yudias's. I thought that was pretty cool honestly. Loved the duel either way, and loved the amv! 😊

I like how Kuaidul is basically a twin-personnality at this point, taking over whenever he feels like it.

My problem is that Yuhi lost in like ALMOST THE SAME WAY THAT HE LOST IN THEIR FIRST DUEL! He had just big monster that did nothing. He never used the extra deck, WHEN HE HAS SO MANY GOOD OPTIONS! And was just cocky for no reason. The result? Zwijo beat him with the new fusion mechanic AGAIN! Yuhi never learns does he?

Maybe Yuhi still be at a lower level than Zwijo. But it's very sure that the third one will be the beat down.
