Very good Video indeed, but what I'm missing (as a live-spectator in 79 and 80, and a lot of DRM-races after that) is: you totally forgot to let your viewers HEAR that incredible scream, roar and rumble of these machines! One question: WHY? I'M not only conviced, but pretty SURE (!), that if YOU've ever experienced an Procar-M1 with unrestricted exhausts (like back in the days), you'd never-ever put this annoying background-music into your Video... 😉

In 1979 in Monza I assisted to the Procar race at saturday...Regazzoni was leading, but at middle race, more or less. his turbo broke and Lauda that was pressing him since the start won the race...very disappointg for me, that also today I am a Regazzoni fan...

Really such a beautiful piece of automotive design! I love the standard BMW M Livery, but Niki Lauda’s red & white Marlboro Livery that was his personal car is a literal showpiece of beauty! I have a absolute crush on this car and the years are going by faster and the cars that are or would be for sale are extremely rare and very expensive, Damnit if i was just born a little like 20 years sooner maybe i could’ve gotten one. 😢 Oh well life is never fair for most people when it comes to these kinds of things! Well to preface my a statement about my comment about The video u made . I very rarely take time to leave comments on videos because usually the video is already got a plethora of comments from people who’s comprehension of things, is “ how much room is in the Boot” LOL but i had to give u credit for this video because it is a car that not many “ car enthusiasts” know anything about, or if it really was real! due to the fact that they are usually more focused on newer cars that have no soul, no character and lastly nothing that can actually grab a hold of you from the inside of your body and make you experience all 5 senses at once! That is what a real car is meant to do so in closing i’😮sll leave you with this fact that they made a car that that was so bonkers, even if The GREAT GORDON MURRAY HAD The $ and all the tools needed to build more , they could never duplicate WHAT THEY DID TO BUILD THIS CAR IN THE PAST it wouldn’t even be close to what they managed to create! because the guys who were selected to be there WERE ABLE TO BE A PART OF HISTORY AND THEY DIDN’T EVEN KNOW IT! @@motorsportsonly Not a problem my friend, it’s just basic curiosity to let somebody know that the time , effort, passion, dedication and commitment to make a great video isn’t easy! I mean yea you could’ve just made a lackluster video and tossed in a few trinkets of some basic knowledge. But you have a passion for what i’m starting to recognize as a candle that’s almost at the end of its wick. Allow me if i may , but given the context of your video and the information you provided you strike me as being a loyal car enthusiast who has a deep interest for the great and amazing cars of yesterday that you & i will never again see a future of auto production like there was in the 50,60,70,’s and even some 80’s and few 90’s cars . Now i’m 49 years old so i missed out on about 25 years of having the means and ability to acquire quite a few exceptional cars. i was 16 in 1992 and my 1st car was a 1987 IROC-Z black with blue decals on the rocker panels a 350 L98 tuned port engine that i got out of a 90 corvette and T-TOPS . i paid cash for it with my own money and fixed it up the way i wanted it. i know that it’s not a car that’s a big deal theses days but it was mine . But i still think it would have been better if i could’ve found a E30 BMW OR even a 635i back in that time period. but they were still new . but i could go on and on about this subject because there was just so many awesome cars that were made it only took 20-30 years later for them to be appreciated. you’ll never find me in a tesla or anything electric powered. ICE IS THE ONLY WAY FOR ME i love to work on my cars it’s like therapy in some kind of weird way. But dude my hat is off to you for the amazing work you put into your videos and i’ll be waiting for the next video of yours. piece of advice for you. whatever your next video will be about make sure you do it better than the last one you did keep pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone and you will soon realize just how amazing your mind is. great work man catch you later buddy C. That would be AMAZING! There are several great early Viper documentaries to draw footage and history from. Those cars have a largely unappreciated and unknown history and are pure homologation specials produced in small numbers each year from 200 per year early on. Such a legendary sports car and would love to see someone show what Viper has achieved. I will be watching and thank you for the response.

The first generation RX7 (SA22C/FB) deserves so much more love and respect from enthusiasts. It dominated IMSA yet it gets overshadowed by its more popular successors the FC (because of Initial D) and FD (because of things like Initial D, Fast and Furious, Gran Turismo etc). The Nissan R32 GTR is respected by enthusiasts because of its dominance in motorsports yet the first gen RX7 isn't.
I completely agree, it’s a shame that no one gives the FB. The credit deserves. It was an amazing car honestly one of my favorite cars personally.

5:42 I think you are wrong there, its quite the opposite. Porsche barely survived the 1990, and resource wise, BMW was in way better shape at that time. With the Cayenne being one the models turning the tide. Porsche was far from being the financial powerhouse they are today.

That transmission... The true star of the show. Yes the engine was insane but that transmission was the key component. I always thought the engine was the most amazing part of the M3GTR but i watched a in-depth video on the drivetrain of the M3GTR and that transmission.... German engineering perfection.

The CLKGTR is the one that did backflips at LeMans. Less than inspiring control and precision. It did do well at other tracks, but initially it was a terrifying handful even with the most capable drivers

I'd add the M635CSi as a contender for underrated BMW racing cars. It dominated the touring car scene in the early-mid 1980s, setting the stage for the E30 M3.
