    while the guide was helpful for alot of the basic set up, I am finding that the math on the angle seems to be wrong. On both my copy and the one seen in the video, the fish finder is apparently saying that all the fish are in the cone towards the right of the ship, and I am wondering if there is a simple solution.

    • @gearhead743
      @gearhead743 Месяц назад

      I think I found the issue. So, the code for finding x1 and y1 needs the angle converted to values on the 2pi scale. I just created a new value labeled an, and set it to equal (angle)*(2*math.pi), and now it seems to work. edit: it was a bit late and I did my math wrong.

    26 minutes in and thinking you shouldve just used a pid. Also you are using a composite on/off write block with no input but that may change the channel numbers from input1 and 2 to input2 and 3? Im not sure

    • @BlueTruckingCity
      @BlueTruckingCity Месяц назад

      The Lua will read numbers and on off signals. To get them to be read we need to input them into composite signals. Originally I was going to have a different setup where I would need an on off signal. That explains the blank on off. The number and on off input are the channels the code will read and write to. There is not much to the code just a few lines. I like it, it adds to the build :)

    Hey I was curious why you use keypads to control your rps and throttle, the better option would be to use a throttle lever and a microcontroller, in my builds I use the one by zizo.

    • @BlueTruckingCity
      @BlueTruckingCity Месяц назад

      I made code that lets me set the RPS of the engine. So I just use a greater than or less than add an up down counter. So I measure the engine RPS, then I measure the RPS I want. The engine will speed up or slow down depending on what RPS value I chose. Then I use a throttle for the clutch. This way I find I can speed up and slow down without over throttle on the engine. :) I will check out the one you linked thanks! :)

I never finished it but it had a cab up front, an engine below, and then a generator above the engine and behind the cab. 8x8 drivetrain and an articulated frame. The crane is/was going to be built on the truck and controlled by a rear-facing control cab on the back of the truck. It would be able to extend out via a combination of rails and pistons, and held stable with ropes. I already had a crane designed like that which worked really well, but was trying to make it mobile.

    Also just FYI, regarding your concerns later in the video, Stormworks itself just can't handle a whole lot. The game engine isn't designed to handle a lot of physics bodies. You mentioned getting more memory to see if that helps. I, myself, have 64 GB of memory and yet I will still experience problems. This is also with an i7-12700K which is a 12-core processor. Currently I don't plan to put it on the workshop but if I like it whenever I finally finish it, then I will. It's going to have 3x triple-barrel artillery cannons along with a dual-barrel artillery cannon, one dedicated to each side. Then it's going to have a variety of autocannons to go along with that.
