My 7-year-old son and I swapped out the impeller on his 2014 Yamaha F20 (F20SMHA). Mercruiser 470 Fuel Pump Replacement

Hard starts and anemic performance inspired me to replace the fuel pump. Found a pump on Amazon, and took a chance on it. Starts better, runs better with the new pump. There's not much out there for 470 fuel pumps, so I figured this might be helpful to someone.

Yes on the 25hp you absolutely do have to take that lock nut off in the front I know because I have one a 2018.
could you share the amazon part number please. I have been looking fpr a replacement for a while now.

Working on my 83' 470 as we speak! I'm converting to an electric fuel pump fearing that my cam lobe may be worn too much for the mechanical pump
How did it go? Same problem and can't seem to get an electric fuel pump to pump any fuel out of my tank.

great video! i have the f20 as well and my impeller needed replacing after only two years. how long have you found they (impeller) last on this motor?
It's a new-to-us engine. I would guess it's the first impeller swap. It's so easy to do, we'll probably replace the impeller (not the housing) every other year.

He's a great mechanic. If it only goes so smoothly swapping out the starter on the old Mercruiser 470. Ouch. I think we got the prop guard at a little marine supply store in Connecticut. Fairfield or Bridgeport? I don't remember. Sorry.

Would have been nice if you could have shown how you actually got it started.
I had to crank it for about 20 seconds (about five, four second bursts) until it pumped enough fuel into the carb bowl.
