    The thing with the crosscourt speedup drills and battles (drill #3) is that so many of those volleys are out balls. Ideally, you'd let many of those go.

    Excellent video! Glad you took the time to explain each grip and show different ways of finding the grip. If you have time to reply back I'd love to know where the majority of the pressure in your grip is coming from? You mention you recommend a 3 out of 10 in terms of pressure but what part of the hand is generating the squeeze? Also, how many over grips do you use; looks like 1 but hard to tell. Thank you for the insightful video.

    Great video! Thanks. A western forehand grip is actually the very same grip as an eastern backhand grip. You hit forehands and backhands with the same side of the paddle. I used this in table tennis when I first started out. It's great for imparting top spin for both FH and BH, but bad for imparting backspin as well as returning backspin from your opponent. I later switched to continental.

    One of the best videos on forehand drive out there tailored to pickleball! A question I had was that I see your wrist is cocked back/hinged a little bit during the unit turn/takeback step. I see a lot of pros do this as well. Is this something we should be actively doing with our wrist to get into the right position?

    Thank you for breaking it down. It should improve my stroke. Question if you are closer to the next then would you not want more wrist action to get the ball over and across the net? For mid court to perhaps back line I can imagine the stroke you have demonstrated is the correct one. But closer to the net you probably need more of a flick of the wrist or two handed stroke to get the ball over. Am I wrong?

    • @pickleballxp
      @pickleballxp 7 месяцев назад

      You are correct. The breakdown in the video is for a hard baseline drive. When you move into the court you will have to make adjustments, limiting your backswing, and your swing path through the ball to keep it in the court.

  • @mauriceb9996
    @mauriceb9996 7 месяцев назад

    That's a traditional background with full follow through that will leave you vulnerable for a quick return. Today's PB one handed backhand is more compact with the paddle stoping point in front of you...ready for the return.

      Yes. It’s a one handed backhand technique breakdown for a groundstroke drive on an ideal ball. In the video, there is a segment that mentioned that these are just guidelines and based on the situation the backswing, swing path and follow through and other factors will need to be adjusted based on the oncoming ball and your shot selection. In future videos, I will dive more into specific scenarios. Thanks for watching.

    Thanks! Very few instructors address the one handed backhand. They all encourage the two handed. I’m a one handed because of my one handed tennis background but have been struggling a bit with it in pickleball. The 45 degree and depth comment helped and taking paddle back with paddle head up is different for me. I usually drop my paddle head and hit up for topspin like a tennis stroke but can never seem to get any power. Paddle head up may make a difference. I’ll try this!

      You rarely if ever have the time to do a full unit turn like that in pickleball. Yes you might have time to turn your shoulder and load your hips a bit, but a full one like in this video you rarely get to do

      Thanks for watching! I do exaggerate some to help others visualize the technique of the forehand drive. What sports backgrounds do the top pickleball players tend to have?

    • @stroshow5
      @stroshow5 8 месяцев назад

      @@pickleballxp I just disagree with the paddle making contact at a straight line on contract… you just won’t generate any top spin like that in pickleball. You need to brush up like a windshield wiper or go from low to high. Every high level is putting tons of top spin on shots now Your unit turn looks nice but you just don’t have that much time if ever in pickleball to do it. Maybe if someone’s giving you a super slow serve…

    • @pickleballxp
      @pickleballxp 8 месяцев назад

      Yeah, the technique covered is to help develop the fundamentals for a hard and deep forehand drive on an ideal ball. The backswing and swing path are going to very greatly based on factors such as time and shot selection.

    • @victorbetancourt2876
      @victorbetancourt2876 8 месяцев назад

      You absolutely have plenty of time to do a unit turn. You would obviously only use it on your return of serve. As pickleball continues to evolve, tennis players with good solid strokes like these will dominate the sport.
