Buddha Nature WI5? | Ice Climbing
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.Месяц назад
Early season in the rockies the Storm Creek headwall came in super thick. Usually Buddah Nature is climbed with a mixed pitch on P1. We decided to go check it out in Dec hoping that the crows would have spread out to the other climbs and given the climb time to heal. Wasn’t the case! Go pro died on the top of the 2nd pitch. Stupid batteries. Tried filming with my phone instead.

is that grizzly couloir?
Ursus Minor SE Couloir
the tricks of light in the ice make it look other worldly, very cool. Hell of a send!
so sick dude this is defintely on the list for me now! thanks for filming the descent too!
Do you use kneepads under the pants?
First pitch looks super sketch. I feel like you either have to be super gentle or hack until you find s omething good.
Yooo, gettin a job soon finally, Ive been looking at ice axes to get sooner or later and I found 2 pairs Im deciding between, the DMM apex and petzl quarks for some mixed and dry tooling :)) just wanted to update since the last time I commented lmao, fun looking route tho ngl
Why not buy the petzl nomic ? Its a bit more expensive but it will last longer if you decide to step up to hard ice and mixed climbing
@@ylanhernandezmotte Not sure, I havnt heard of great things from the new gen of quarks, everytime I look into them they say the older model is better
save and get some nomics, ice dreamz, hydra etc. Even used but dont get quarks if you are serious about ice and especially drytoolilng. I made that. mistake so did my buddy. i was lucky enough to get rid of mine. He is stuck with them.
@ idk, im looking at cerro egger corkscrew route in the far future, marc did em' with DMM apex's so I was going to go for those, and have a normal pair like some hydra's or fuel's/fusion's
I noticed you've changed ice tools from the Camp X-Dreams to your current ones. What did you wrap the upper shaft of the X-Dreams with? It looked like a sleeve of some type. I love watching your videos as I'm from Calgary and have started ice climbing. Thanks.
I had the petzl grip tape on my X-Dreams and it was ok. I got some from MEC in Calgary! But on the ergos I some really thick electrical tape that works even better.
Thanks for letting me know!
Thank you for posting your climb, it brought back wonderful memories. I climbed the north face in August of 1982, wool, full shank leather boots, SMC ridged crampons, warthogs, and chounard screws. It was a fantastic day for me, looks like it was fantastic for you too. Well done!
Damn! That looks sick!
😉
It’s “TOO” not “to”. “A bridge too far” not “a bridge to far”
Thanks!
that third pitch is so dreamy!
The Gremlin is so dreamy!
I was dreaming of my calf’s not burning!😂
A family friend of ours, his dad...walter perren! Hadnt spoken in many years and found out recently...his son shared many stories of his coming to canada, close calls, and dedication to his trade. A true legend!
Gorgeous!
Great video!!! brings back so many wonderful memories of my decade living and climbing in the Bow Valley - Cheers!!!
Thanks Drew! I’m sure you had some pretty cool adventures! I’m glad I got you reminiscing on those times
Looked amazing again, nice one 👊
🤙🏼 thanks
That looked so much fun, have you tried the white GoPro batteries yet? I find those a little better on life in cold environments
I have some! I actually dropped it at the bottom of the climb when getting my stuff ready. So I only had 2 reg batteries for the climb
That’s looked so much fun, great content look forward to following your content bud
Thanks Craig! Appreciate the comment
Is th?at dude in the Air Force?
Nope
How'd Nemesis look?
Nemesis is in the Stanley head wall zone which is the next drainage down from Storm
Damn! Looks like an absolute ladder! People sure have been getting out! Cool climb!
Haha dont think I swung more than 10 times!
No way, I must've climbed it the day after yall cause that slide track at the base was still fresh. cool to see the top out climbed well! rapped down the og start and it looked siick
I watched your vid! Definitely within a day. That orange Tat was still up there!
the stuff dreams are made of
Are those G-Tech or Summits?
G-Techs
the summys have the yellow toe while g-tech have a black toe. other dead giveaway, is the summits owner is also in debt (me)
Beauty! Where abouts?
In the Canadian Rockies!
So satisfying watching good sticks. Thanks for posting!!
nice video ! In what time of the year did you guys climb this ?
We climbed it in June!

Waita go Connor! We enjoy watching your videos! Carson and hannah say hi and that looks fun! Keep it up!
Awwww❤️ Tell them Hi! You guys should definitely visit this summer!
I climbed this last year and the first pitch was bullet hard. Did you have the same experience?
It wasn’t too bad. Not too cold these last couple days so it climbed well.
where is this
In the Canadian rockies!
Bow Lake, on the Icefields Parkway.
Thanks for posting consistently. Love the videos. Raw and chill. Your content always adds something on my bucket list.
Thanks for the kind words 🙏🏻
Woop woop! :)
🤙🏼
What a stunning video! The Canadian Rockies look absolutely magical with the ice starting to form. The climb on "Shades of Beauty" WI4 is mesmerizing - so beautiful and inspiring to watch. Thanks for sharing this amazing day out! 🧊🏔
Thanks for the kind words 🙏🏻
Cool. Nice start to the season. This was a memory trigger for me, as I climbed this route once, in late November of 2001, or maybe 2000. I was having an angsty moment, and drove up from Canmore looking for something to do. I had heard this route was in, and I'd never climbed anything that far up the Parkway before. It turned out to be the right thing for the day. I soloed it, trailing a rope for the descent. It was a little fatter than in your video, but the top out on the first steep pitch was basically dirt and felt a little cruxy.. It obviously was ok, but I was glad to get home that evening. Take care, and enjoy!
I’m glad the video unlocked some old memories for you! Makes me happy!
Super wypadzik na lodowe Łojenie . Powodzenia i pozdrawiam.🙂
🙏🏻
What do you do for work?
Hall yeah mirandy
When you back??
Are you and Randi on insta?
Nice video and great climb. I climbed that last Feb. with very different conditios obviously. Also I was curious do you just have the go pro on a mount on your helmet or do you use one of sticks in the backpack?
Yeah I’ve climbed it a handful of times and that was definitely the thinnest! Yeah my GoPro is just on Super Wide setting on my helmet.
The coldest day I ever climbed ice was this climb in March 1998? was -25 and windy. brutal
That’s bad ass! I’m staying inside if it’s colder than -20!
@alpinegremlin4408 yeah, if your smart, but we were camping in our car on vacation from states.
Nice work! How long have you been climbing?
4th season on ice! Been on rock for longer
@@alpinegremlin4408Right on! Hoping to get out and learn some ice climbing this winter. Love your videos!
