A big improvement to the primary mirror cell, is to remove the mirror clips, and use silicon adhesive on each of the contact points of the primary mirror to the cell, and the pillars that hold the clips to the mirror. Let it cure for a couple of days and it will securely hold the mirror. I have been using this method for at least the last 22 years on all my primary mirrors up to and including a 12 1/2 inch full fitness mirror. You get rid of the defraction caused by those clips in front of the mirror, and the possibility of scratching the outer edge of the mirror because of their contact with the front surface. As an experiment, I even hung a 10 inch blank upside down for a year that had been secured only with silicon adhesive. It’s securely held the blank with no problems. If you need to remove the mirror to say, aluminize it, silicon adhesive can easily be cut with a hacksaw blade from the mirror and removed by peeling off. The silicon also has the advantage it will not pinch the mirror, as either the mirror or itself, expand or contract with the temperature.

Can't you just put tube rings on it and throw it on a vixen rail? That would make mounting a piece of cake.

I'm interested to know the cheapest way to get the best image (ok...aren't we all?)... What do you think about getting a cheap Newtonian. Remove the alumination/reflexion coating from the secondary or the primari or both. It should remove 99.999999% of light. Then you can use a H alpha filter on the eyepiece?

Have you heard of Chiro, the faithful dog of the late Akira Fujii, noted Japanese astrophotographer? At one time Chiro was named director of an observatory. Also I seem to recall Chiro found a freshly fallen meteorite -- which is probably the only kind of astronomical discovery a dog can make. Maybe Luna should be the honorary director of your observatory.
