The introductory bars of Das Waldvögelein are given as an example of how to play musically on page 50 of the bilingual English-German standard edition (1906) of Oscar Franz Complete Method for the French Horn. Great to hear it played and so idiomatically in this performance. Lovely singing and fine interaction between all the performers.
The first two songs in this cycle come from Franz Lachner's song cycle Waldklänge, and I found in my research that they are more commonly known then the rest of the songs in this cycle. We loved performing this cycle because of the wonderful collaboration of all three voices together! Thank you so much for your lovely comment.
