    Thank you for this presentation, Chris. A couple of questions. I am a Canadian travelling to Greece and want to minimize the amount of cash I want to carry. I was originally thinking of loading up a a Wise with Canadian dollars and using it as an ATM card but it looks like I can use it like a debit card. So, if I go to a restaurant I can either pay by cash or tap/insert my Wise card on the payment machine, correct? Do you know if Greek businesses accept Wise? When I return home to Canada with excess money on the card, is it better to transfer the money back into my bank account or just use the Wise card like a debit card to run out the funds (assuming I don't want to keep excess funds in my Wise account)? Thank you in advance.

      1) So, if I go to a restaurant I can either pay by cash or tap/insert my Wise card on the payment machine, correct? - Yes 2) Do you know if Greek businesses accept Wise? - Yes, if they take Mastercard/Visa, then they take Wise - I was in Greece in 2022 and only used Wise, never an issue 3) When I return home to Canada with excess money on the card, is it better to transfer the money back into my bank account or just use the Wise card like a debit card to run out the funds (assuming I don't want to keep excess funds in my Wise account)? - It's up to you; your bank account may pay you interest on the balance, which may be above what Wise pays, so consider that.

    Thank you for the tool and the video on it. When the interest rate changes partway through the loan term, do the monthly repayments increase, or the proportion of the monthly payments going towards the principle decrease, or both? How does this work? How would previous early lump sum extra repayments affect this increase and/or decrease?

    • @MoneyHubNZ
      @MoneyHubNZ Месяц назад

      It will depend on the terms of the loan - if it's a floating rate which drops, the monthly payments will decrease. Every loan has unique terms so there's no one simple answer - please ask your lender to explain the situation for your loan.

      Yes with a small fee added. So you get the mid market rate and then they add their fee. Or you can get a card that doesn't have any fees and they use MasterCard or Visa conversion rate which is close to mid market. I believe Revolut uses mid market without any fees on week days anyways 🙏💚

    Gidday Mate. Question, im looking at getting a wise card for an upcoming trip to Australia, if i put $5000 NZD on there then convert it immediately to AUD before i leave, they way i understand it is ill pay an initial conversion fee on the $5000, but when in Australia making purchases, there will be no further conversion fees at the time of purchase as im paying from the AUD wallet in AUD, is that correct? I note on the video where you show making purchases via the Wise card in the UK, its taking a conversion fee for each transaction but is that because you are paying from your NZ and Euro wallets and not the GBP wallet?? Thanks in advance.

    • @MoneyHubNZ
      @MoneyHubNZ 3 месяца назад

      Yes, if you convert to AUD, no fee when making AUD purchases. In the video example, I am using non-GBP account, hence fees. You're 100% correct in your understanding.

    Great guide and everyone should be putting something in towards kiwisaver. Your example calculations is really the bare minimum of what people would likely get, so it didn't include employer's contributions, and higher income levels. In reality people should have more than $595 at 65 yrs old. But also, let's say you don't take out the $595k at 65 and left it for another 5 years, with no more addition deposits, the amount would be $843k

    Just tried signing up for a card and ended up in a nightmare transaction. I clicked on a link to purchase a wise card which took me through a wizard where I registered and had to upload lots of security/identity documents. Got to the payment page which asked for $32 when I knew it should be about $NZ14. There were no options to correct things, no buttons to click to get back to the start, a very poor website, it kept reminding me a lot about this transfer process. I wasn't transferring anything, just wanted to buy a card. I eventually was forced to just close the webpage.down, found another link, logged in and completed the purchase for $14 and they welcomed me and said I would get my card soon. While I was in my account, an error showed saying that my last uploaded document was unacceptable. After searching forever I found a phone number to call them. They told me the last document was the wrong type and not recognized by their system. I asked her if 'type' meant jpeg, png or pdf and she said yes. I reminded her that the previous uploaded documents were all jpeg's so the type can't be the problem with the last doc. To cut a long story short I have an account I can't do anything with, they've deducted my $14 even though they did not approve my last document, and therefore they can't issue me a card! I needed to take a break!
