You know I am kinda surprised that the darkness didn't return in the finale. Think about it, it was banished sure... But what if it merged with something or SOMEONE else who the Mane 6 dealt with before, someone who wasn't redeemed. I.e Sombra. Imagine this alternate scene in the finale. In this alternate, the Mean 3 succeeded in draining the magic from Twilight and those who united. Not hesitating to fight each other for full control as they originally planned. Dropping the bell in the process. Before any of them win one of the asks "Which one of you has the BELL?!!" Causing them to realize they dropped it, but they don't see it. Of course the mane 6 all realize they don't have it. Cue a dark laugh, followed by the Mean 3 being blasted by the bell. Followed by Sombra walking in with the camera on his hooves, saying how he finally won. He quickly explains how he came back, and how his magic is already SO powerful now he doesn't even need their magic to be taken from the bell. Then using the shadows to AMPLIFY the bell's ability to cover the entire PLANET essentially in one go. *A big bell made of shadow* Show scenes from the Dragon kingdom, Crystal Empire, Sea Pony kingdom, Manehatten, etc. Where all creatures lose their magical abilities in one go. *While the windegos wouldn't be affected by the bell, sombra would outright DESTROY them with his shadow magic alone in one go* Followed by him creating those mind control head pieces to put on some of the ponies, including the princesses of Celestia, Luna, and Twilight. After which he would use the bell on them to give them magic back. *Since they are under his control he has little to fear using them in his army* He'd put the rest of the beings in his massive crystal prison he makes with his enhanced magic. Each species in their own cells, Dragons with Dragons, Earth ponies with earth ponies, unicorn with unicorn, Pegasi with Pegasi, Yak with Yak, Changeling with changeling *YEP Chrysalis would be there too*. Discord and Tirek kept in the same exact cell in the throne room. Just so sombra can mock them specifically. While imprisoned... This would be when various things would happen: 1. The young six would remind everyone of friendship. 2. Cozy Glow ends up revealing her backstory, and possibly gets redeemed *Thanks to her cutiemark no longer functioning do to lack of magic* 3. Tirek and Discord have a heart to heart, leading to the former getting redeemed. 4. The Changelings get through to Chrysalis, admitting they didn't WANT to lose her as a queen, just wanted her to love her subjects as much as they loved her. Thus she transforms *This being a key factor to the escape because she'd gain a magic not present in her when Sombra used the bell.* A massive uprising occurs thanks to Chrysalis reforming, and using some unique spell she shares her magic with her army. Hive magic if you will. Gives magic laced love to various creatures, everyone has to face off against the Mind Controlled Princesses. With the Mane 6 aside from twilight fighting her, them reminding her about their friendship causing her to break herself free. It would all come to a head when the break into the throne room, sombra gloats while about to use the bell. Discord allows Tirek to drain any remaining magic from him, to make up for what he did last time *This causes him to cease to exist, he'd come back after everyone admits he was a good friend but would add a bit of a shock factor to the finale* Tirek breaks free and absorbs the magic of sombra and the darkness itself before Sombra can use the bell again, but unlike other magic he can't control this so before he loses control. He essentially sacrifices himself telling the Mane 6 to "Use it now!!!" Either uses the bell, OR the elemental friendship they used before on him. Perhaps both at once. This causes the bell to absorb sombra's magic, and this time it reaches it's limit and explodes.. Also destroying the darkness tainting it. The rest of the magic returns to every creature on the planet at that point. Fluttershy would come in at that point, asking where discord is.. Her friends explain, she doesn't believe it. Being mad, till she starts to cry realizing her best friend is gone forever. She and the rest of her friends say how good of a friend he was, and he will be missed. A true hero. During a ceremony honoring him, through a chaotic themed party.. Pinkie would come in pushing a cake on a table, a small one. But before they can cut it, out pops discord. He doesn't do this with joy as expected, even he is all "How did I get here, last I knew I sacrificed myself" Of course fluttershy doesn't care.
