    Great video! Really enjoyed it. How did Massive compare to Elbert in terms of difficulty?

    • @thecoloradoalpine
      @thecoloradoalpine Год назад

      I think Massive was easier only because the alpine approach to Elbert can be brutal on the standard route. If you hit it on a busy day or warm day, you are exposed in the alpine for a long time. With that being said, Elbert does have a pretty good false summit that can mess with you mentally. Neither are very difficult in terms of class and technical hiking/maneuvering. However, I would not suggest either to a beginner, nor would I suggest Elbert over Massive. In my opinion, Elbert is one of my LEAST favorite 14ers. It is quite overrated. The height is legit, but the summit is sort of lame and the hike itself isn't that great. There are WAY better 14ers and even better hikes that aren't for a summit. I actually prefer a few 13ers over Elbert. Cool to bag it once, but not a repeat summit IMO. In fact, Elbert is probably my least favorite out of the entire Sawatch range. LOL

    • @thecoloradoalpine
      @thecoloradoalpine Год назад

      To add, the trail is less prominent on Massive as you approach the summit. It requires more scrambling and route finding. But as long as you stay on that more East side of the ridge, you will be fine. The West side is gnarly and has some good exposure. Much more route finding and scrambling on Massive compared to elbert

The best part of hunting is when you get to share the experience with someone else and if that someone is your soulmate, it is even sweeter. Go for it! We were hunting near Creede, Colorado. She did push her first shot a good ways and the bullet entered through his rear knee area. With the slope of the mountain, we were shooting up a pretty steep hill and with his angle, the bullet exited through his groin, which dismantled a teste and the other teste was barely hanging on. Her second follow-up shot was perfect and just barely nicked the bottom of his heart and exited out the other side. No heart or true rocky mountain oysters....such a bummer. @thecoloradoalpine Год назад

      We haven't left a summit sign in a long time. For this very reason. We had arguments with people over the entire concept. The idea was to get people to not take paper signage and hopefully mitigate the trash and support "Leave No Trace" by having a more permanent sign for people to use. But again, everyone is entitled to opinions and are the upmost stewards of the land in their eyes. So we decided to not do the signs anymore. There are plenty of other 14er videos on our page displaying this. But again, people are the most opinionated and greatest stewards of lands and need to comment on stuff that was posted well over a year ago. Keep hiking homie

    hello, greetings from Spain, where we know about the heat ;-) 3 contributions: the air flow is so powerful that the extracted air does not have time to cool down, a less powerful fan would be better. The exhaust pipe, better under the ice (physical ice), so that it is better impregnated and the air is humid. The ice, better frozen with salt, so it will last longer. Here is a contribution: ruclips.net/video/U5m8kLbgxMY/видео.html Good luck!

      We are located in Alamosa! We bet the shed hunting was really good back then! Were there many people doing it back then? Just curious. Good luck in the hills!

      @@rvrandy1710 we hit some select spots. We kind of have a specific drainage we shed hunt in the west side of the valley. Lots of good spots these days. But agreed, the amount of people doing it is insane! Plus we see tons of tracks out before the legal shed hunting dates. But, we still manage to snag a few. Mostly it’s fun just to see what’s out there and learn some more country.

      Anywhere above like 10k feet in elevation in Colorado will hold some brookies. Big ones like these are had to come by for sure! We fished this body of water maybe 20 times this summer and only saw 2 other brookies like that. One was cruising banks and the other snapped a line off on one of us. Good luck on the water!

    Really enjoyed this series! Thanks for not sharing locations, thanks for not messing up the video with tons of intense music and fake drama, and thanks for your relaxed approach in the video…all of it makes for an enjoyable experience! Happy trails and good hunting!
