    This is not wild camping, it is illegal fly camping.

    • @greeno6064
      @greeno6064 12 дней назад

      Incorrect. Although wid camping is technically illegal almost everywhere in the UK, the definition of wild camping is "This is when people camp in a responsible and inconspicuous way, following a code of ethics. Some say that wild camping can be therapeutic and healing, and can help people de-stress and improve their mental health" and we did all of the above. We were inconspicuous, had no fires and left no trace of our presence when we left the following morning

    • @richardjennings2708
      @richardjennings2708 12 дней назад

      @greeno6064 I am correct. Wild camping on private land is tolerated as long as you follow the guidelines. You are not following the guidelines. Fact. Btw, this is not a wild camping video, it is a fly camping video. A term used by the Police, landowners, NT and LDNPA to describe selfish idiots who camp where they like on shores, islands etc. People like yourself will end up causing an outright ban, which will then spoil it for the true wild campers who respect the land. As well as camping on a shore, which is strictly prohibited, you also didn't follow the "maximum of two tents" guideline. The "leave no trace" is being spouted on videos like this like it's a 'get out jail' free card to justify selfish actions.

The funicular is a good 15/20 mins away from base camp motel so I used it just as the end point if my travel to Arc-1800 so I could be up there and on the piste by lunchtime

    Bagpipes and fiddles are fucking annoying. Waterproof jackets will always "wet out" in prolonged rain. Its not the outer layer thats waterproof, its the gortex inner membrane that IS water proof. It stops water droplets getting in and allows water vapour to get out. However when wetted out, the movement of water vapour is severely reduced. Whats inside tha jacket is sweat.

  • @alanprioroutdoors
    @alanprioroutdoors 2 месяца назад

    I was thinking this myself. There's definitely an advantage to doing it this way as you're getting all the big hills out of the way at the start and then effectively you're walking down hill to the end at Milngavie :)

    • @greeno6064
      @greeno6064 2 месяца назад

      Well you might think that Alan but it is a killer coming out of Fort William and even worse coming out of Kinlochleven. Another disadvantage is you don't meet many people because everybody is going the opposite direction. But on a positive note you do get to face the sun going south and also if you have done the West Highland Way before it is a completely different perspective. If you ever do fancy doing the West Highland Way then my tip will be get your bag's carried the first time you do it

I found the Loch Lomond section to be the hardest on the WHW. Especially trying to squeaze between two large rocks. Also limbo dancing under the railway LOL.
