How did you temper, or is the residual heat enough?
I typically temper in front of my forge. I cl3an the faces after quench to 120 grit then put in front of my forge and watch the colors run. I get a golden straw color to my faces and some blues and purples around the eye of the hammer.
@@whiskeyturtleforge5002 Awesome thanks for the info. Haven't heat treated anything bigger than a knife. Saw your reddit post with tons of hammers and am feeling inspired, now I just got to find some heavy stock, tough for an islander lol!
Speedymetals.com is where I get my steel from.
Nice job! Props for doing it all by hand without a hyd press or power hammer.
Thanks! I sold my press last year and moved shops. So rebuilding new shop. Hope to get a press again one day. But glad to know I don't NEED a press to make hammers.
great job, cool design. I don't see many hammers made by upsetting the face but it does give it a unique look. I would say it's much easier to char the handle with a Mapp gas torch or propane torch than sticking the whole thing in the forge.
Thank you! Absolutly. Just currently don't have a hand held torch. On the need to get list.
Well done, sir!
Thank you kindly!
Nice video, What steel are you using for your punches and drift. 😁
Hey, I'm using 4140 for my punches and drifts.
Thats beautifull
Beautiful job, great looking, just started one like that today
Good video great job on the hammer another sub
Thank you!
давай давай работай лучше мы на тебя смотрим.
Whiskey Tango?
Excepcional! Tiro o meu chapéu pra você. Guerreiro.... 🤔🤔😃😃👏👏

Hammer look awesome. Well made👍👍🔥🔥
Looks fantastic man! Can't wait to get my hands on it and put it to work! Thanks again for the hard work bro 🤘
Hell yeah man!!! That’s a nice hammer!🔥⚒💪🏻
Thanks man!
How long does it take you to forge one of these? Start to finish, without hanging it on a handle.
About 2 hours for 2 hammers in this style. Most of the time its waiting for the steel to heat up again.
Thats awesome! Crazy fast! Keep up the phenomenal work!
Great process I have learned a lot from you and if you sell I would love to buy one of these beautiful hammers from you.
I do. My website is whiskeyturtleforge.com
Get one! Hands down the best hammer on my rack!
Great video man, thanks for posting!
Thanks for watching !
Punch look cool👍👍🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
That's a sexy ass hammer, right there.
Thank you!
I freaking love A33... I make my hammers outta it
I've been using some for awhile. I love it. Will be doing more with it!
What’s it like to forge compared to say H13??
@@adventuresofskadi7277 ive never used h13
@@IslandMetalForge lol unless you have a press or power hammer I don't think I'd use it. I've made a few drifts with it now and its ridiculous how resistant to deformation it is even when screaming hot.
@@adventuresofskadi7277 its much much much easier to forge a33 over h13. I dont think I will go back to h13 ever again.
Promovare te rog
I’m so jealous of the space you have
Awesome vid!!!!🔥💪🏻⚒
Nice work!
what I wouldn't give for a press
So cool to be able to see my hammer being made
Hows the hammer working out for you?
Very nice work sir.
That's a Monster hammer your using lol.
Good job
Thats actually really cool😁😁😍😍
Thank you!
looks like cool tools being made what all did you get made ?
First day we made hammer eye tongs,a hammer drift, and a hand held hammer punch. Second day they used there tools to make a hammer. Lots of fun.
@@whiskeyturtleforge5002 NICE , is this at your place ?
@@GodseyKnives no this is at my friend's cypressville forge shop. My shop is allot smaller and doesn't have a power hammer.
What model nimba is that?
It's a Colombian. Not a nimba. 140lbs.
So cool
Thanks Tasha!
