Hi I'm Lovie and I love to hike! I have only been hiking(mostly) in the Pennsylvania area but sometimes like to venture further. I love the outdoors and immersing myself in nature. Come along with me as i explore, contemplate, philosophize, and just live life!
Peavine Island- PA
This beautiful and primitive island is located in the Susquehanna River in York, Pa. The gigantic rock formations and features such as caves , potholes and wildlife make this invigorating adventure worth the scrambling and climbing!

Lots of hunters out there so wear your orange! There will s an area of several rotting deer about 2 miles or so in but you can get by it quickly and easily.

This is a wide gravel uphill trail up to a tower that you can climb up into for 360 degree views of 5 counties: Lebanon, Lancaster, Dauphin, Berkshire, and York. The tower sits on the site of a charcoal furnace. At one time one of the workers( a slave) was named Dick. He was so good at producing charcoal that he became known as ‘Guv’nor’ Dick. After his death the hill was named in his honor. It i...

We had a great day exploring the potholes! These are located south of the Falmouth Boat Launch off of route 441 in Lancaster County, PA. The river was so low( about 3.1) and with such a beautiful day out to boot I couldn’t resist.Wear good shoes, watch your footing and be prepared to climb- a LOT! Definitely a workout but a super fun one! PS- they just took down the photo collage video because i...

Cool and peaceful trek up Cove Mountain located in Marysville, PA. This trail is a lot of uphill then down, with some rocky terrain near the top and leaf covered most of the way.Bring trekking poles and watch your footing while enjoying the fresh air and gorgeous fall colors. One correction I need to make : the first over look is Rockville Bridge, not Rockview. ( sorry - map has small lettering)

Part 3- Breezy View Overlook & Heritage Trail
On my bucket list....eventually 🙄
it's pretty amazing...i couldnt beleive i'd never heard of it before
Excellent adventure! I've tried to get out on Peavine but I don't think I actually made it....probably not 😅 I do like exploring around Lock 13...there's so much to see there once the foliage is gone...maybe Friday...been meaning to get there again. Maybe I won't slide off a rock into the river again 😅 Happy trails!
lol.. good luck! yes i intend to go back ..need to get to the end of that island...
@@TheFeralFemale130 looking forward to the video
Love the kilns! There looked like some pits in the ground where the big rock was...wondering if it was part of a quarry operation? Happy trails! I use hiking as stress relief too...I call it "woods therapy" hoping everything works out for the best.
it was good to finally run into them..i assume that all of that was part of the quarry. And i finallly had "dry" settlement today. Now just waiting for keys and then moving stuff:)
@TheFeralFemale130 awesome! Congratulations and good luck!
Wow, this was so cool! I have long been planning and wanting to explore Peavine Island. The Conowingos fascinate me, such a unique place. Water levels looked really low. All the rocks, so beautiful and interesting. Thanks so much for posting and sharing your experience, I really loved this, and it was very helpful!
awesome..ty so much for watching! it was a great adventure for sure!
Those looks like Turkey Tail mushrooms on that log. I would prefer to hear any nature sounds if possible rather than having the music bed. I'm curious about the geology of those rocks.
I have to admit, i dont know much about mushrooms- just think they are pretty:)When i am alone i always try to include the nature sounds. i love them as well . I like to hike with friends sometimes though and the music overlays help to keep our conversations private.
Orange spray paint on a tree means its marked for removal. Also, you can get replacement bladders and lines cheap at Sierra in West York. Definitely much cheaper than REI. Worth checking out. Stay warm out there!
thanks so much for that- now i know! I'm not in the york area much any more but will look into Sierra
@TheFeralFemale130 I tried using the bladders for motorcycle touring. I found the bite valves on water bladders kind of a pain, definitely take some getting used to. I love the channel Lovie! You rock!
@@petemikkelson9346 thanks! are you the pete mikkelson i know personally ? or just a weird coincidence?
@TheFeralFemale130 I'm the one and only that I know. I've done lots of growing up since you've known me.. but yes, I am a memory or two.
@@petemikkelson9346 :)
Great job getting through and uP everything, Lovie! Always feels good afterwards with those accomplishments even with the cold. We’re surrounded by so much goodness in nature. Inspiring me to get out there.
yes it was an amazing adventure for sure!
Reminded me of my youth going out and exploring. Frickin awesome…looked like so much fun!
i am such a kid at places like this...but i have to admit, they spoil me for hikes with lesser views and stuff
Wow! You’re out and about hiking in this 🥶 weather. Bravo 👏
yup, and going out tomorrow too!best weather for hiking really
I came across a pit filled with decomposing dear not far the York Hospital along the Codous Creek. Tons of flies and the stink was real bad. I just assumed it was roadkill dumping spot for the highway maintenance crews. The graffiti on the rock at the top looked like it said 'Kilroy' as in 'Kilroy Was Here'. Perhaps someone used a wire brush to get rid of the "was here" part which looks like it was beneath the yellow Kil Roy. Did you happen to see any really big outcrops and boulders anywhere off the trail you hiked. This Roundtop hill's bedrock is the same type of granite you find at Conewago Falls, Govenor Stable, Ski Roundtop in York County and Devils Den in Gettsburg. Great video!
thanks..yeah decaying animals are never a pleasing site ( unless i can collect a fairly clean skull:)..hmm..i did see some boulders in the woods here and there but didn't go into the brush to explore today. That hike up to the summit was steeper and longer than i thought so i was pretty happy just to make it up there..lol
Last time i tried to do smoke signals they just said help my blankets on 🔥🔥🔥
lololol
Glad you could get out and reconnect with nature, Lovie. Looked like a great little hike. I hope you can get into your new place soon.
thanks Dwight@ good to hear from ya!
Great trail with nice water features. As usual your narrative was on point 👍🏼☺️
why, thank you!
Sorry for some bad use of grammar, should be " Do hope everything can get worked out", sorry I'm human. LOL LOL
lololol..i didnt even notice... anyone will tell you how awful I am at typing( i misspell make grammar mistakes more often than not because im in s rush and i don't use spellcheck)
Thanks for sharing todays walk. I like to use the word rejuvenating, the outside air, the nature, the stream, so very rejuvenating. I hope it all helped you a little with your stress due to your housing dilemma. Due hope everything can get worked out, and you can get in your new home by Christmas. Stay safe, stay positive. Marc You do sound like you got some rejuvenation. stay happy thanks
thanks for this- i get worried nobody watches that far into the videos:)Happy Holidays to You and Yours!
Beautiful place
Your video was truly beautiful and inspiring. As a fellow creator, I appreciate the effort you put into it. Sub and 👍19
awesome..it's always great to see other creators comment and check out their channels as well..
No bears!!! I'm usually more concerned about angry squirrels 😂 Happy Thanksgiving! 😊
happy thanksgiving to you also ( sorry i'm a little behind in my replies atm)
Another cool adventure!
thanks!
Camera glitches really is part of what we do, way to get creative and roll with it. I've lost some good footage myself.
yes, it does suck when it happens..but we persist..lol
Looks like a nice trail to get some good clean air. As usual thanks for sharing ☺️
thanks, it was better tha sitting around in the airbnb:)
Thanks for today little adventure, yes please wear your orange, you cannot trust an eager hunter, and carry a little pepper spray for bears, and your own protection. It's funny about the bears, because earlier in the week I warned another RUclipsr, she was crawling into these little caves down in Bucks County, and she was unaware that a bear could be getting ready for hibernation. Thanks for sharing the nature and your narration. Stay safe and enjoy. Marc
definitely. I almost always wear orange, but today i guess i was in a rush to get some fresh air after our nasty weather days and i forgot. I wont do THAT again anytime soon!I'm glad i didnt see any bears tho- my walk was exciting enough!
Excellent share, enjoy your day
thanks for watching!
Awesome. I love seeing new places to hike
thanks! so glad you liked it!
@TheFeralFemale130 always
Sub 129 here lol Your so beautiful and ambitious....I wished they was more girls like you in my neck of the woods in PA
aww..thanks:) i feel the same. Very tough to find females to hike with..plus i have weird hours being a night shifter:)
Nice little trail. I was amazed at all the leaf cover. What were those white “markers” near the bridge?
sorry just seeing this. RUclips doesnt' seem to notify of all my comments.. This was a stream restoration area..so those white poles everywhere were new trees planted:)
Nice short trail, hiked it many times as I lived in Willow Street for overs 30 years.
it's so weird to me that a town is named as a street..lol
@@TheFeralFemale130alot of willow trees along the main street at one time
@@roberthollinger7900 wow..that makes sense..thank you!
It literally was is like a nice short hike on a crisp and chilly 🥶 day. As usual, your narration is spot on amazing 👍🏼🥰
aww thanks..we gotta do a few more soon before the weather gets too awful here:)
Nice little hike! Have a great weekend.
thanks- you too!
Thanks for today adventure. Glad you found the other parking lot and bridge. I saw it on google maps and was not sure where you were starting your hike from. I always go on google to see where you are taking your hike and see surrounding area and points of interest. Was out in that area when I was a little boy, grand parents took me to "Dutch Wonderland" not too far from where today's adventure takes place. Love seeing the old growth trees, love the large beech, oaks and maples. So nice that forest areas have been preserved. Thanks for sharing, stay safe and enjoy, have a great weekend. Marc
thanks for watching..yeah i gotta start trying a different map app. Apple just isnt cutting it anymore.
Always makes it tough this time of year with the leaves covering everything. That tree growth was interesting. Definitely a better parking lot on the other side👍 Love the bridge too! Nice video!
thanks so much..short trail but better than nothing:)
Love those potholes!
yes they are and thank you for inspiring me! Your videos got me there:)
Well, I made it out here today...a little chilly but all is good. Went as far as the third powerline...had lunch on a rock in the river and made my way back...no amount of photos or videos can do justice to this place..😊
yes..i wish i had. better camera..i generally use my cell phone, but my friend has a DJI camera that's cool. Still, nothing like being there!
Nice video, this part of the country is beautiful , especially in fall. Lots of nice trails in harpers ferry wv. My dog and I walk them and the scenery is much like PA. Take care , keep up the great work.
thanks..yes i went to harpers ferry and hiked the maryland heights trail with my daughter this past summer..the hike was all uphilll but the overlook view was stunning.
@TheFeralFemale130 awesome, your right , it's an uphill battle , but worth it. Thanks for the reply. Have a great day
Excellent adventure! And yeah....those phone cords are a pain in the butt...especially in the middle of a nice 8 mile loop and you notice your phone is either not charging or it says 18 hours to charge fully 😂😂 Happy trails!
lol
Nice video! I enjoyed seeing the other side of the canal. Now I need to go back : ) Thank you for sharing!
Haven't been there in a while. Always a nice hike to what we call 'Rapunzel's Tower.'
is that a different tower? or the same one?
@TheFeralFemale130 The same one. That's what my step daughter called it. She told her friends at school that she climbed Repunzel's Tower. She was so proud she made it to the top, she wasn't sure she could do it when she first saw the ladder setup inside.
@@billpenna awwww that's sweet:)
Another great hike Lovie. I have done that hike many moons ago and I loved the climb of the “tower”. Great descriptions of the hike and climb. Cheers from Colorado!! Hopefully see you soon for one of your hiking adventures
colorado is awesome..enjoy it to the fullest!
@ I am enjoying it. Went for a hike today finally after the snow storm ❄️🥶 It felt good finally getting outside in crisp cool air
I have been to many towers but never to one that you had to climb up from the inside, that's pretty cool! Awesome view from up there.Very nice hike!
yes it was very cool..i never knew it was built like that..thought it was more like the usual public viewing towers with big wide steps and lots of space...haha
Thanks for today's adventure. Love the view from the tower, so cool to have that vantage point on the world. I used to hike and climb the fire towers in the Catskill Mountains. Also happy to see the seasonal change. Thanks again for sharing your hike, and history. Stay safe and enjoy. Marc
thanks! i love seeing 360 views of nature:)
Wow,those rocks and the holes were incredible! Nicely done on the video! New sub here.
thanks so much!
Bummer you lost footage and some in slomo. Love seeing and hearing small streams in nature! I hear ya on being nervous with the wind 😉 All the rock formations are pretty cool. Devils weed 😆👍 Beautiful waterfalls! Nice hike and video! New sub here!!
thanks so much..it was a surprise really. i was expecting a dull but peaceful walk in the woods. But i got waterfalls, rock scrambles, a babbling creek, and immersed in some amazing colors :)
My husband and I hiked here today (11/7/24) - what a beautiful trail after seeing this video. I will definitely go back but start on the lower end. Dry leaves are sketchy! Definitely easier on the ascent.
yes..i always think how great it is not to have ti worry about snakes this time of year, but the leaves-wow!. I'm so glad you got out to see this trail..i was pleasantly surprised:)
Absolutely amazing place....just thinking about the force of the water over the eons to carve, shape and MOVE those boulders... Those rocks you were at just before the 3rd power line cut looked almost like dinosaur skeletons! You got pretty close to that pterodactyl too! They're beautiful birds ❤ Glad you got out to explore these...and without a hardhat!!!😂 Maybe going to try next week to get back out there. Toporanger's channel got me out here too... Happy trails!
i totally intend to go back out- the water levels are great right now! Yeah i follow a few channels on here- he's a favorite. I'm just learning this YT format so i don't know much about how to refer other channels yet. But i hope people will check it out!
@@TheFeralFemale130 Hey, it's a learning process. Glad I found your channel. Always interesting seeing a different perspective of places I've been at.
I still gotta get there lol
it's much better and safer when the waterlevels are low..they are at 3.14 rt now and perfect to go out far. I use the USGS site to check before i go:)
waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/01570500/#parameterCode=00065&period=P7D&showMedian=false
That is one awesome hike. Love the rocks formations and your description 👍🏼😊
it was truly awesome!!
Great adventure today, thanks for sharing. What is amazing to think about is the 100 ft of ice that was where you were standing and the water and sediment running down of a thousand years making the potholes. I have always been fascinated when I'm at the top of mountain ridge and see the same holes, realizing how deep the water and ice once was. What an amazing planet we live on. Great day to you. Marc
i feel the same...just imaging the force and power of that water is amazing!
Awesome photos composition! 😊
thanks,.the sides got cut off because they werent in youtube format but the full video is coming shortly:)
Very nice! I just went there today. I found a spot where I think the river (only 3.14') can be crossed on stones!
yes it was 3.1 or so friday when we went.. . we had a great time, and were able to go out so far i was amazed!
Very beautiful hike. I would like to go hiking with you sometime I love hiking wherever I can go.
