Hawaii Loa Ridge - Archive Cut #17
September 26, 2024.
Did this hike with JC and Sakina, first time hiking with them. This ridge is extremely similar to Kuliouou and Wiliwilinui, with Hawaii Loa probably being in between the two in terms of difficulty. Though, we were talking the entire time so there is quite a bit of talking in the video.

September 15, 2024. Did this hike during my Kauai trip while we were exploring the east side of the island. Fun trail, a fun scramble near the end. Did it with my dad, great hike. Forgot my go pro though.

September 14, 2024. I was on a trip to Kauai and went up to Waimea Canyon. This was a pretty easy trail but had grand views of the canyon. I wish I did better with the camera work. I did this hike with my dad. Cool hike, we started from the Pu'u Hinahina trail and then went to Canyon Trail and then to Waipo'o falls. The falls was kind of disappointing.

September 5, 2024. This was a very tiring hike but extremely worth it. Got very lucky on the views and this was definitely an amazing experience once at the top. We only went up to K2, because we were content with reaching it after being tired, and we noticed clouds and high wind was rolling up, making K1 maybe not worth it for us.

September 2nd, 2024. Did this with Alex and I. Didn't find this trail on the internet aside from some blog posts but it didn't really say much. This was an awesome one to do, amazing views and it was definitely a decent workout. 100% underestimated this one though. It was very hot, should have payed attention to the name, Pu'u Papa'a, or scoring hill. No wonder

how heavy was the foot traffic in the areas you hiked? is it non touristy?
Aiea Loop, the trail you have to take to the ridge is popular not crazy but a decent bit of people. The Aiea Ridge portion however is very scarce of people and I doubt many did it as of recently. The trail itself is extremely overgrown and sometimes eroded for almost the entirety of the Ridge portion.

If you watch this to get a glimpse of the hike. Do not be dumb like I was and go 2-on-1 on the ropes. Keep a grounded connection, you don't want it to snap and you slide down.
