ADV Moto Expeditions
США
Добавлен 12 янв 2022
Welcome! ADV Moto Expeditions was started to document rides, adventures and I guess just life in general. My goal is to make content that you find helpful .... or amusing as life can be at times.
Like most of us when we saw Ewan and Charlie go around the world on motorcycles, the interest was sparked. From there I have bought and used many motorcycles through out my travels. Eventually landing the R1200gs. Followed by a KTM 350 for lighter rides when the heavy Grey Whale is not the right tool for the job.
In the last few years I have been wanting to start a channel and ride more. When I herd about Back Country Discovery Routes.... well lets just say I was all in.
Our group started by a Facebook post, where David was wanting to ride the SoCal BDR and asked if any one wanted to join. After that an unbreakable group was formed that would support each other in the adventures ahead.
As they say the best is yet to come, so come follow along and thank you for the Support!

Can’t wait to watch this series
Thanks for the support! The next episode is in the works.
WHEN did you make this run? And, how hot were the temps? Also, best guess on how much you spent. Thanks in advance.
We did the first week of June. Temps in the south were almost 100. North was 80-90. I would run it again late May. As for spending I think it was about 450-500 per person. But solo might be more like 700. All depends if you camp or hotel. We camped first night on section one when you start hitting hills. Then the dead broke inn(next Door to the only visible hotel in town). Then we stayed in a hotel the last night I'm utah. For us pushing 200-300 miles a day on this route was easy.
@@adv_moto_expeditions Thanks Bro!
You know how to ride that GS! Well done.
Thanks it's a blast to ride! Hands down one of my favorite bikes!
Very informative video! I am making plans to start the AZBDR in 2 weeks and appreciate your information. Thanks!
Glad you mentioned the riding right thing, and showed a good example of other bikes approaching. As they say.....when you least expect it.....expect it! Just took my daughter and exchange student to the Grand Canyon this past weekend and as we were riding the train to/from Williams......all I could think about was what a great adventure ride it would be!!!!! Enjoyed yours and will have to add the AZBDR to my list now!
Awesome! That train is on my list to do as well. AZ is a great ride, not super hard either. With the ride right situation I actually did almost get hit. We both slid out and powered on to avoid hitting.
@@adv_moto_expeditions We’ve driven to the Grand Canyon a few times, and the train is the way to go for sure!!! it’s so easy to forget that you’re not alone on roads like these, when you don’t see anyone for such long stretches! Glad it worked out for the best!
Nice video. Completed sections 1 - 4 the end of May. Your videos are much better than my dash cam footage. Thanks.
What was your favorite section?
I have! 😂 What bags are you running?
Giant loop Round the World bags 90l inches sides then I have the 39l touratech top bag
@@adv_moto_expeditions nice, I’m considering a giant loop tube style bag for my tenere, my tusk bags are great for day trips, my older wolfman bags are too big for my set up, so hopefully a giant loop will be something in the middle for longer runs …
@Adventure_Ready_Moto I love the giant loop bags. They are great for longer trips. I can fit 2 week trip packs into them and if I'm only doing 1 week I don't really need the top bag. It only holds medical and camera gear. Then the Giant loop cactus canteen gets strapped to the outside.
A couple of those sections are non-stop rocks!!
It definitely keeps it interesting. It's not super hard, though just tiring in the heat.
@@adv_moto_expeditions yep definitely keeps your focus on point ….
@@Adventure_Ready_Life my favorite part was the small waterfalls that went into the ravine. It's one of those commit or not moments.
@@adv_moto_expeditions the many puckering experiences presented to us on our big adv bikes! 😂
@Adventure_Ready_Moto it was very fun. Love good technical on a big bike. Pioneer Pass tho can just be to hot to truely enjoy at times.
We’re is dat I would love to make a video out there
Az BDR Section 4
Awesome area, I’ll be doing a couple sections from Mogollon rim north this weekend ….
What a great place to explore. Tail end of section 4 can get a bit rocky.
@@adv_moto_expeditions I’ve done that area a couple times on my 690 I just sold which was awesome, and did that area up past lake Mary once in my lifted diesel van 2 wheel drive with rear locker, that was fun but pretty much exploring in slow motion! 😂
@@Adventure_Ready_Life sounds a bit bouncy. What bike are you riding now?
@@adv_moto_expeditions I just picked up a new tenere 700 to get back out doing some motocamping and for local commuting stuff, and i have a 250 two smoker im setting up for trails and single track stuff. I want to start hitting up some BDR routes soon, my team actually built the SoCal route back when i lived in California and worked with BMW and KLIM for several years, those were some great times!!
Part 2 is up on our channel!
another great trip. Thanks for putting this together!
Your welcome! Can't wait for the next one!!!
That's exactly why we ride right! This was alot closer than it looked for Nick.
Always remember to Ride Right! The GS almost went head on with a Taureg 660 on the AZ BDR.
What has been your favorite trip?
Meth
@Mr_Smith_369 motorcycle trip lol but that's hilarious....
I have learned more on a Meth trip that in real life. It's like a classroom, or an office...
The only thing i have learnt on a road trip is that the world is flat
Later we found out the right foot peg is a common breaking point on the Africa Twin. 😂
Some parts just shake you for a while.
Section 2 just kept getting narrower and narrower! 😍
We were averaging 200 to 300 miles a day. We even did 620 miles to get from San Diego all the way into section 1 the first day.
@socal_adv_nick was a beast on that Tenere
بی ناموس به بانو هایده گفتی هیش؟؟؟؟
Great video man! Thanks for sharing, I'm the one planning on going in Oct.
Awesome! It's a great route. Section 4 is the only really challenging part. October tho will be very hot until you hit young and then hot once you hit the Grand Canyon.
Great video! I'm going back later this year to finish section 5 & 6.
Thanks! Section 5 is fun! We will be going back and exploring northern AZ more for sure
Seems like a little more throttle would’ve helped.
It definitely would have. I was at the point where it was commit or bail.
this was an awesome series bois! this provided a great insight on what to expect from the CA BDR and provides invaluable information that one can use to prepare for the ride ahead. It was cool that y'all had a good mix of bikes to demonstrate it doesn't really matter what size bike you have, and it boils down to skill and the rider. Section 1 & 2 look like the trails I have nightmares about and can see why so many people choose to skip that section.
Thanks for watching! It is a great route and doable on any size. If anyone is planning to ride it leave a comment with any questions and myself or one of the other crew can answer.
Hope your telling folks where your going and keeping a gps on you
Always. Also using the Garmin Inreach for sos and live tracking. As well as tool kit and fully loaded first aid kit from My Medic.
Nice bike
Thanks! Love the 350 excf
I remember this section. It was surprisingly tough.
How did the Twin do on this section?
Looks beautiful. Have fun and be safe.
Will do!
Sick video
Thanks
That camp was gorgeous even though the ground was so hard we couldn't even get stake in the dirt.
Definitely packing different stakes for AZ. Always packing a hammer as well.
Good job! Section 2 is a blast.
It really was. Wish that the GS wasn't a lowered and had totally blown shocks but it still was one awesome ride!
dirt starts 7:33 thanks for posting
Yep, section 1 is a workout for sure!
Well done video! Wouldn’t mind being able to tell who’s helmet cam we are on. But I stayed entertained the whole time! Thanks for sharing!
Tha ks for watching!Section 2 will be easier to follow.
For anybody wanting to do this road, be careful 4 wheelers go like its baja1000 race. 60 mph around blind corners. If you see big dust cloud pull off the road completely if possible and wait for them to pass.
Right before we started a jeep was ripping way to fast. Definitely an issue on this road.
great ride, section 1 was a blast. Cant wait to go back and do it again.
It truly was a fantastic section. Definitely want to go back. Just on a lighter bike.
yes
That is so beautiful
It was very peaceful.
