I would suggest that you join the AC groups on Facebook for food advice and discussion. As for the after run in procedure the AC factory recommends 66:1. Leave the Carb settings as they are. I used Motul 710 oil. It's a great engine.

@Ian James hi buddy small world but at least your doing the thing seeing the world I don't have fb but sorted the oil mix and running sweet will do the base gasket this weekend as have very small leak clean piston and barrel decompression port also have the off grid throttle to put on.thanks for your reply and enjoy your trip 👍

@@RamblingWithRitchie there is really a lot to learn about flying these machines. Not just the launch, they flying and the landing but understanding the weather, airspace and air law and also the dangers of operating a machine with a prop that will and has cut digits and limbs. Although not mandatory, doing a proper training course is essential. If you are keen to learn more and are on Facebook, join the Paramotor UK group which I am one of the admins for. The group will pint you in the right directions. It's a wonderful sport and the ultimate in freedom. Cheers.

It was a fibre glass tube that I cut down from an old fishing pole. I mounted my cycle phone holder onto it but eventually gave up on it and went for a flight deck. 👍🏼

Hi, I'm a former paragliding instructor and commercial paragliding tandem pilot and in terms of training I had an input from an experienced paramotor pilot. I could already fly the wing and make good weather decisions, launch and land so I just needed to know how to be safe with having a propeller, which incidentally causes a lot of injuries. It's crucial to get property training and that can be attained with a Bhpa school or an APPI instructor. You can look at their websites for the nearest. A great way to start would be to learn to paraglide first. Go and see the guys at Sick & Wrong in Keswick behind the pencil factory I live overseas a lot and unlikely to be up in the lakes this year. Do it, its a fantastic thing to do but there are CAA rules that you must adhere to. ✌🏼

Hi Tom. I learnt to paraglide in New Zealand 10 years ago and a few years later I became an instructor and a commercial paragliding tandem pilot. I transitioned to paramotoring this year and had a days training with a friend in Northants. A good friend of mine did his training at Airways Air sports in Derbyshire. Others go to Clive Mason paragliding near Leicester. You can find the nearest BHPA paramotoring school to you by looking online. There are quite a few accidents in paramotoring from poor flying skills and prop injuries removing fingers so I can't emphasise enough to get proper training. It's a fantastic sport and very addictive. It's the cheapest form of powered flight tgere is. A set of new gear would cost around £8k. Good econd hand gear, around £4.5k. Training £1.5-2K

Yes, I stayed in my Mum and Dad's touring caravan in Goonhavern, just down the road from Perranporth. You'd have a great time in your van and on the bikes in this area. I used to live in Newquay a few year back and I used to love the coast road ride up to Padstow on my ZX7R. Happy travels Greg.

Cheers Greg. Yes, its an absolutely fantastic pastime! Its brought me so much joy is its really exhilerating. Its the cheapest form of motorised aviation you can do and so much fun. I know you like motorbikes and the freedom they provide, the same as me, this is like having a motorbike in the sky, but in 3 dimensions. There are several powered paragliding schools around the UK. I learnt paragliding in New Zealand first. that was 10 years ago and then transitioned to instructing and then did commercial paragliding tandems for a few years. I didn't have any formal training in PPG, but some guidance from experienced pilots. I live in Thailand these days and won't do much flying there, but my dream one day is to do a van conversion like yours either in the UK or NZ and tour around with my girlfriend, camping and flying. I was even looking at these myself a few years ago, could not believe how cheaply you could get into the sport. I have done a tandem skydive and love anything to do with flying. Both great uncle and cousins are commercial pilots. I've flown helicopter and small Cessna's. I will maybe look into doing a Tandem when in Europe. Are there links to regulated schools out there do you know? Like PADi for scuba diving?

Greg Virgoe You wouldn't believe it but anyone can buy this gear off the internet and go and fly it legally! Currently this form of aviation is unregulated in the UK. However, I would not recommend self training to anyone. Most accidents happen during the launch phase and there are many ppg pilots /ex pilots who have lost fingers starting the engine with it sat on the ground. You should only start it on your back, unless its strapped down securely to a fixed object to tune etc. I would recommend a ppg school which is affiliated to the British Hanggliding and Paragliding Association (bhpa). I think they are listed on their website. Good to ask questions about where to get training near to where you live etc on the facebook group, UK Paramotor Group. It will also wet your appetite even more! :-) The two schools nearest to me in Warks that I would recommend would be Airways Airsports in Derbyshire or Clive Mason Paramotors in Northants. Sussex Paragliding is another one (Mark Morgan). Very experienced. With proper training you will learn all the important stuff like weather, air law & vfr, how to fly the wing and opetate the motor safely and lots more. I know that you are heading to the continent. Another bhpa school is Fly Spain. A British guy by the name of Rob Mansley runs a team out there teaching PG and PPG. Fly Spain has an excellent reputation for teaching paramotoring and paragliding and is highly regarded by many who have trained with them. All the best Greg. www.flyspain.co.uk 👍👌
