From 2020-2024 (April to July) I had one of these. Used it daily for music/podcasts at work for a couple years then as a DAC for my phone, loved it. They did a revision on it because mine was Micro-USB, and the connector dying is why I no longer have one. Thinking about getting another one, never knew you could change the firmware. Great video, definitely subscribing.

I used to be a hoarder of art and craft supplies and at the point when i had the most, i created the least. When i gave away most of the stuff that i didnt need to a person who actually did, i felt free. Now i have less supplies and am not driven to purchase everything i see( one of the main reasons is I cant afford it). I am trying to finish what i have and guess what? I am creating more than i ever did in the past few years combined and I also realised that these supplies last a very long time. Also even broken stuff have some use. For eg: My old paintbrushes are used for mixed media art or messy backgrounds.

this video is so kind and charitable to these art haul youtubers as fellow victims of the trend/capitalism and i'm being fr abt that cuz those people are 100% sellouts and grifters of art. the thing that they sell is not their art, it is the idea of the "artist lifestyle" that can be bought with juuuust enough thousands of dollars. their job is to convince people they can make a living off their art as a "fellow artist" while making a living off selling markers and paintbrushes. it's truly embarrassing

That reminds me that I have a LOT of unused art supplies that I got as prizes from my primary school + my current school. I don't use them as much but they could be used as like spare supplies for when I lose some of my school supplies for the 183,723th damn time. I wonder if there's someone I could give it to, I don't know any shops that accept donations and if there is, I'd have to ask my parents for permission to go there.

I needed to see this video. I grew up in a very poor, single parent house. I loved art and drawing from my earliest memories. I had a few pencils and the cheapest paper sketchbooks going. The only time I got to use “fancy” stuff (ie paint, markers) was at school, but I still sketched happily for hours everyday. I dreamed of going to art school, but there was no way that was happening in my financial position. After I left school, real life, kids and work took over, and creating art became a distant memory. My kids grew up, went away to uni and I decided to pick up art again. This time however, I was in a very different position financially. I could afford to buy anything I wanted, so I did. childhood me would never in her wildest dreams have imagined owning all these paint colours, brushes, markers, sketchbooks etc etc, so I bought her them. Every time I see a new product on a youtube vid, I buy it. And guess what, I hardly fucking use them. I’ve got more stuff than I could ever use in a lifetime, and it doesn’t get used because I now have too much choice. But, that’s it. No more. I’m going to use this shit, and have fun doing it.

Literally, here is the cicle: i get some markers, crayons, pencils, pens, and paint as a kid, and I use it till nowadays till it's totally used. I only buy new paper sheets or sketchbooks. I've always been like this - I use whatever I have to draw.

The art supplies I own: every goddamn one, yes even the damn glass pen, only missing weird stuff like linocut The art supplies I use: liner, pencil, eraser, cheap watercolor paper, watercolors, couple of alcohol and paint markers Even if I know I only use these supplies, why do I keep buying more? A quick hit of dopamine from a new thing that will sit in my closet.

And I really thought I needed those to make good art but I could not afford them. Now I do my works with what I have under a limited budget and I couldnt be happier

It's easy to steal pens from work Pencils disappear all the time If you can get a job somewhere that has a copier, I bet people toss perfectly good one-sided copy paper in a nearby recycling bin Does your job have a cabinet where they keep all the Post-its? What else is in there? If you can get a job at a print shop, guess what....free scraps... People leave perfectly good paper everywhere, because they are stupid Me and you, we smart.

I'm a sewist. My machines are all older than i am, my industrial is in loan from my brother, serger was bought from my sister in law's grandma's garage sale. I constantly buy cloth from thrift stores, zippers as well and have a handful of different thread bobbins/spools which came from various friends abandoned starting sewing kits. I also have fresh cloth I buy by the yard or bolt, all of which I insist on being natural fiber primarily. Thank you for spreading this sentiment. I first got into quilting when working at fabric store, the craft itself was born of people making sure with leftovers... it's a totally different story these days. I'm trying to move away from that shit myself. So anyway, thanks for putting this out there, i hope more aspiring artists and artisans see it and take it to heart!
