    I just finished the project. I had a hell ofh a time putting the pins back into the door handle. No slack to work with. Found that if I did not put the new pieces on the handle until after I had the connection with the handle in it was easier. It still took many tries. I think the cables were a fraction short. I know one was, because we had to shave some plastic off to get a little more slack.

    I want to see a way to install the cable back into the upper latch. I noticed you left that out. It is a major booger of a challenge as the upper latch does not come apart to help install the cable end back in place. Its not a pleasant job. Pisses me off.

    I just completed this process in my driver side access door. It wasn't TOO bad but still not fun, lol. I used a knife rather than sandpaper to skin the plastic cable housing to allow the metal pieces to slide onto the cable. I almost had a real problem when I decided to "test" the latch by manually actuating the door latch with a screwdriver. When i did this all seemed well until I closed the door itself and the bottom latch would NOT close. The top latch was fine but the bottom would not close. What happened was that the latch did not fully open back up all the way by simply pulling the door handle. I had to take a screwdriver and snatch it open all the way to allow the door to close on the bottom. So just be careful and be aware of this if you decide to test it manually without actually closing the door!

    Finally an old guy that knows how to use a tool . These young kids with THIER keyboard fingers, can't use a ratchet for shit. I guess that is because we grew up fixing things, from our first bicycle to the truck/car we drive today.and they grew up typing everything. When I was in school we also had BULLIES that beat up the kids that took typing. I guess there are PRO's and CON's to everything. Thanks for the video and the website to buy them. I love my little ranger,not ready to retire it yet. The new ones look like Fido' s A$$.

    Bought a set of 8 on Amazon. Had a real problem sliding them over the old cable even after considerable sanding. the opening seems too small. I guess I may try running a drill bit through them before I do the other side.

    The video is okay but he stated that the cables ends we're broken at the latch, therefore it might not be necessary to take any parts off from the interior of the door. I had the same issue with my Ranger rear door and only dismantled the door latch and then replaced the ends as noted. Total time for job was 25 minutes. If the top and bottom of cables break in the future then that's a separate issue. And yes my rear door latch was fixed and opened just like new... Wow! 25 minutes and less than 10 bucks for the parts.

    Mr. Klamm, today 07/29/2020 I finished a project. Several years ago I had the problem with the cables on my 2001 Mazda B3000. I purchased the parts you make and sell. I don’t use the truck as much so I kept putting off the repairs. Well today I started and finished the project. Your parts are perfect. Thanks for making his instructional video.

    overall a good video,a must watch before starting this project!!!! but does over look a couple key situations that ended up taking some time especially on the first handle. the main missed point is reconnecting the cables to the handle. look to see how the cables connect inside the handle that way you get an idea of how to do it. b'c once trying to connect its very hard to see what needs to be done. my steps: --i connected both cables to the handle (can be a tricky, need good finger movement), then locked down the metal ends with the clips and then work the handle into position on the door (test!!!) and then riveted into place. took me a couple of hours to do both doors, second door was much faster, of course.... taking off the freaking interior panel wasn't pleasant either....definitely worth doing yourself.. can't imagine how much if paying someone..

    I hope you guys are still answering questions. I just ordered a set of these ends for my 2002 Ranger. Question is, what if the 1 or more of the end are not broken. Do they slide off? What is the procedure for this. I hate to go into the door only to fix 1 end and hope the others last longer than I plan on keeping the truck! LOL

    • @emiliotamayo3256

    • @emiliotamayo3256
      @emiliotamayo3256 4 года назад

      If one of the old ones isn't broken, it doesn't slide off to remove it like the new one you are about to replace would. You have to pull the back retaining clip, and disconnect the cable from the door handle once free, with the help of pliers crush it, it should crumble into pieces. make sure the cable or the cable sleeve doesn't get damaged. now you can replace it with the new aluminum one.

    • @humrod1852

      @@emiliotamayo3256 your video only shows the part about reattaching the clips to the door handle. Of course you wouldn't have to remove the door panel for that work. Plus you suggest using an angle grinder, which turned out to be overkill and it bit you. But the video clarity of your video is great!

    I think it's hilarious that these videos are showing how to fix the problem but they're not actually showing you how to open the problem start with to fix the problem you got to open the door the problem is that obviously if the door is stuck which people are trying to figure out a way to open it how would you do upon going that if your door is locked it's not open like on this video if the door was open we will not be having this problem how do you open the door to start with trust me I've tried all of them and it can't open

    • @msurussell
      @msurussell 6 лет назад

      Roger Rabbit You have to lean the passenger seat forward or get in the back seat, remove the two screws holding the window latch, pop that cover off, then remove the two screws and bolt on the lower panel. You can then pull upward on the panel. It should come off easily. Then reach in and pull both cables, opening the door for repair.

      @@msurussell If the end of the cable slips out of the bottom door latch like mine you can reach in and actuate it manually, if that happens on the top I wouldn't have the faintest idea how to get to it with the door closed.

  • @gy2383

    Great product, worked perfectly. Please note, you get four ends per door, three are the same, one is modified, the modified end goes in the top latch, you do not have to disassemble the latch to install. The end just rotates into position. Also, check the top latch end once you have installed the door handle and everything is in place, I noticed that the end had rotated back out of position due to the cables twisting during handle install. Once everything is in place,Rotate the cable end back into place and gently squeeze with pliers to hold in place and you will be good to go to put the door panel back on.
