Please see the video for examples of packet tracer function as well as physical and logical topologies, connecting to the switch, building a small network, and using the CLI and terminal emulation. I'm gathering that the MAC address is used as a more unique identifier than the IP address...I know that's not the point but I'm just trying to categorize identification markers...
Yes that is true. The MAC is actually a GUI (globally unique identifier). Look at Wigle.net. You can see that as people have used software to track the SSID’s of wifi devices (AP’s) that they have found they create a database of the MAC addresses. Then by combining this with GPS data we get a map of wireless hotspots.
