Can people just stop complaining about the changed designs already? Be grateful they still kept the colour coding system. Come on folks stop being babies its still easy to see the zone of colour and what type it is.

Who TF thought that was a good idea, to have extinguishers that look very similar at a quick glance, with needing to look for the color coding - if there isn't a colored band - was a good idea?

Well this is a blast from the past. Bits of this I used to see on the fire training from my first job.

Also people need to be grateful they didn't get rid of the colour coding altogether. Stop being babies people! Its still easy to see the zone of colour on it!

Brilliant video for the time. I strongly dislike the new coding system though, we should have left our extinguishers as different colours so you know instantly what type it is without having to read it as every second counts in a fire. We should go back to the old colour coding system, especially now we have left Europe.

Cooking fires weren't as a separate class yet at the time this video was made (they used to be just part of Class B). Also nearly every single one of these training videos completely misses and ignores Class D.

Why in the world did they make this video, they should have waited a few months until wet chemical (called fry fighter at the time) was released.

Bloody EU, standardising fire extinguishers across all member states. Makes you want to be sick, Churchill would be spinning in his grave.

WARNING: HALON will 'remove' all oxygen from the room. So, if you use HALON, you need an oxygen mask!

that's good, lets hope you never have to put out a real fire. if you do, remember, PASS P- Pull A- Aim S- Squeeze S- Sweep the fie from side to side. if you have to put out a class b fire which is flammable liquids and you have foam remember to aim and the back edge of the fire so the foam can form a blanket. its very good knowledge to have. when you see a fire remember the following. 1. raise the alarm. 2. call fire service. 3. extinguish the fire ONLY if its small and developing and its safe to do so. 4. have an escape route yourself. 5. use one extinguisher only. 6. if the fire is still ignited and the extinguisher is empty do not use another and get out. they say in training "don't be a hero". IMPORTANT WHEN USING CARBON DIOXIDE TO PUT OUT A FIRE NEVER HOLD THE HORN OR BASE WHEN DISCHARGING EVEN AFTER DISCHARGE AS ITS EXTREEMLY COLD AND CAN CAUSE YOUR HAND TO STICK TO THE HORN OR BASE. plus it makes a very loud noise.

It needs a little updating to cover high pressure water mist extinguishers. These are suitable for a range of fire types.

Nice of them to put a training video online. But why on earth have we made our different types of fire-extinguishers less easily-distinguishable from each other? What, just because Europe has some stupid system whereby in an emergency you have to faff about looking at tiny little symbols instead of just being able to tell which estinguisher you want by the colour of the whole thing, we have to adopt that stupid system too?

It's from 1997 when the UK stopped colour coding the whole body of their extinguishers and moved to red bodies with a coded panel.
