Paul Spink
Добавлен 22 дек 2013
Mr Brightside by The Killers, performed by UK band FUSED during 2020 Covid19 Spring ’Lockdown’.
Recorded on iPhones with apps such as GarageBand and BiasFX.
I got the chance to play my old Ibanez ‘Paul Stanley’ guitar on stage at Fat Lil’s, next to the KISS pinball machine that has taken the place of where my amps would normally go.
The band I play in, FUSED, were one of the last to perform at the music venue before the start of the UKs lockdowns and the end of live music for 2020.
This song is always popular with the audience, and the optimistic title made it feel like the appropriate song for us to record and present to our social media followers and anyone used to seeing us live.
Here’s to a completely different and brighter new year in 2021.

Possibly the best guitar solo I’ve heard in 12 years of owning a music venue! Keep Watching!

Canadian guitarist, singer, producer Ariel Posen played at Fat Lil’s in Witney, UK on Tuesday 4th February 2020. I knew he’d be good because he used to be in Brothers Landreth, but didn’t expect to hear this incredible, dynamic solo. Combining slide techniques, finger picking, dissonance and a fuzz tone to die for. It builds and builds. I was totally blown away! And I think it is possibly the b...
This solo is so tuff, idk what the haters are talking about in the comments
I forgot how to breathe for 5 minutes 😮
That guitar needs a smoke after that.
A six minute crescendo!!
Can anybody tell me the scales or arpeggios he might be using?
What sophisticated melody-lines!
Ariel Posen played at the Hillside music festival in Guelph, Ontario a year ago and 8 years (time flies) before that as part of the Brothers Landreth. Memorable performances and both of them Hillside Moments, as our friends refer to outstanding musical events. He has some instructional courses online (Truefire, i believe) which are worth looking into if you're a guitar player. All the best wishes for Ariel from the great white North : )
Hardly the best. You gotta get out more
Man thanks for the video, it really was a great great solo!
hardly the Best guitar solo. jesus. sounded like he was playing with a hand saw instead of a pick. and all that racket at about 4:37 was just plain lame. I happened . to come upon this video after watching /listening to Chris Buck, mesmerized, at every part of all those solos on Friday Fretworks, so this posen guitar thing seems even more unlistenable.
Playing slide is a completely different animal, 95% of guitar players can’t play slide well, To play Stevie ray-ish- licks and use the slide to take it 10 stories above with that level of feel is truely amazing, Not even to mention the arrangement,And wearing a hat because you’re freezing cold lol, you get a bow my brother
Alma, soul, feeling , great moment👌
Didn't know Zach Hadel could play guitar this good
Eh…
this guy had something to say, also.. THAT BASSIST IS A KEEPER
Never heard of him
Wow man this is great is the whole show available on video or at least this version of Angeline ?
Jeff Beck would have been proud. 🤘🏻
🔥🔥 drummer was crazy
woooooo omg
What a MONSTER solo - perfect taste and delicious tone 😍
I think most musicians (across all genres) neglect the 1-5 range of the dynamic spectrum in favor of 6-10. I LOVE the super small grooves and tones here. Really takes us on a journey. Bravo!
Holy hell. What a guy. Felt every bit of that
That is the WORST solo I have heard in 12 years. Thanks
pretty good, reminded me some robin thrower even some jeff beck and even a bit of roy buchanan. as the others commented, it wouldnt have the same effect without the drum and bass's flawless rhythm pillars
12 years huh? :/
Once I compose myself I'll give you my response..................................................... That kind of feel........um......comes from a much higher realm.........😭
Is this on Spotify 😭
When you melt your band mates’ faces and still have another 5 min left of the solo😮
Imagine thinking a master of his craft is all over the place. Listening to the music but not hearing it, feeling it. This is one of the most tasteful solos ive ever heard.
Ariel is arguably the best technical guitarists of all time.. School trained dudes are more technically correct, but this guy writes all his own music and experiments with different tuning and guitar technology. He was been playing this song for years, and every tour he does, and ALMOST EVERY SHOW, he changes the solo up. Look up all the different versions of "Angeline" and enjoy. AMAZING
Spent so many nights in my 20s and 30s (I'm 61 now) in many of Pittsburgh's little venues listening to awesome local talent....mostly blues and blues/rock. Glen Pavone (and the Cyclones) was always a favorite. And when they would cover VooDoo Child, Glen would practically go into a trance during his solo and take the audience there with him. It was something u just had to experience live to understand....and if u know, u know. R.I.P. Glen. Gone too soon (I believe he was 52 when I'd heard he passed a few years ago) The Hellhounds with Lenny Smith also another example of huge talent that was one of Pittsburgh's best kept secrets
2:20 “oh shit” same my man
You have really good taste in guitar solos my guy a lot of people wouldn’t understand the beauty in this slow burn of a solo
You know its legendary when everybody shuts up in the crowd
Daaamn 😮👏
average
This video is how I found him. Saw him last year. Incredible.
Fuck yeah
Reminds me of Blake Mills
It was a GOOD solo. I think I liked the way he and the band built the solo more than the actual solo itself. Good tone, good slide skills. Kinda wish he opened up a can of whoop ass but hey, it was definitely better than the status quo.
Bro is just using the metal hammer lol this isn’t even close to what a solo is
Eh. I don't know what kind of artists have been by your venue, but that was a decent performance. Thanks for sharing.
Fire!!
That was so lovely
The whole band phenomenal
Tabs?
Phenomenal
holy shit it grooves
It's still f*cking amazing 😁
crazy feeling.... into the zone
