Today we’re trying out a set of 5.4” Proline Boggers (G8 compound) as well as a set of cheap shocks. Neither of these will be staying on this rig, I just wanted to see how they do in order to get somewhat of a baseline and then go from there with some actual upgrades for this thing. Hope ya enjoy the video, thanks for watching!

SCX6 + TRX4 dually- fresh paint in the Quarry.
Просмотров 12814 дней назад
After painting both the SCX6 and TRX4 last week during the cold snap, today was a nice warm day, so it seemed like the perfect time to take them both out and put some scratches on ‘em. Definitely left some fresh paint on some rocks down there at the Quarry. I should’ve recorded more, but I was enjoying the nice day for a change. So these are basically just a few random clips, nothing crazy, the...

1980 Chevy field run. Square body patina.
Просмотров 13828 дней назад
Ole Blue reincarnated, sort of. I did a weathered/patina type paint job on my TRX4 High trail, to look like an old Chevy square body that my grandpa had when I was a kid. So today we are going on a relaxing field cruise down memory lane. Hope ya enjoy the video, and thanks for watching! This one is for you Grandpa, I hope you approve. Love ya.

I got another dually! This time it’s the CEN F450. Today’s video is just the first run in stock form. I will do a more in depth video coming soon. Today is driving only. I want to see if this thing can even make a lap around The Pit, with its open diffs. I hope ya enjoy, thanks for watching! I’ll catch ya in the next one.
Can a Capra crawl with Boggers or Fling Kings?
Просмотров 73Месяц назад
Today we’re gonna try something a little different. I’m testing out a couple sets of tires that aren’t for the Capra, but that is the rig that I’m testing them with. I want to see how the tires do on a capable crawler, even though they won’t be going on one. So this video is a little wacky and full of fails and wipeouts. Hope ya enjoy, thanks for watching!
SCX6 vs Nasty Hole.

I started cleaning up the creek trail again. So, this trip out, I took the SCX6 with me. I didn’t plan on going boggin, but by the time I got to the mud hole, it was already done. After completely burying the big boy, I decided to call it a day. It was a wrestling match trying to get it unstuck! Regardless, I hope ya enjoy, thanks for watching! I’ll catch ya in the next one.

Capra vs Gapra. Rumble in The Pit- Round 1.
Need to fix your exhaust bro,I think you lost a muffler on the trail before this one.
Didn’t lose the muffler… I cut it off! Trying to be as scale as possible, because if I had this truck as a 1/1, it’d definitely be straight piped with stacks!
You have some really bad ass builds man. Super impressive! Good stuff man. I gotta get with you some time and see how you mix your 4 wheel steering. I’m starting the weathering on my atlas, we’ll see how that goes lol Keep the killer builds bro! 😎🤙
Thanks man, I appreciate it! As far as 4WS goes, I don’t mix, I like having them separate and proportional. Since I run everything on a Flysky GT5, I just put the rear on the CH6 knob, so I just treat it like another steering wheel. Good luck on the weathering! One thing I have trouble with is the concept “less is more”. I always end up going way harder with rust than I probably should. Just something to keep in mind, it’s easy to get carried away. Hope it goes well for ya!
@ yeah I’ve heard the less is more before but I’m kinda in the boat you are, and this my first attempt sooo, we’ll see 😂
@ I have my Capra on the gt5 also, but don’t think I have the second servo on channel 6, I just have set where you select the steering opinions thru the menu which is definitely cumbersome when trying to drive smoothly. I’ll play around with that and see how it works…. When I’m done with my other projects.. lol
Right, it’s hard to tip-toe in those situations!
Definitely try out either CH 5 or 6 for your rear steer, then the driving mode will be obsolete because your rear steer is completely independent of everything else. The only downside for some people is that it obviously won’t auto center the steering like the main wheel, so you’ve gotta steer it back when you want it to steer back. Hopefully that made sense. It doesn’t bother me though, that’s how I prefer mine to steer.
I'm ridiculously new to crawlers and almost just as new to rc's as I've only recently gotten into them. I wanted a 1/10 scale crawler/trail rig and was looking at this one but judging on the reviews it's not the best. I just love the way it looks versus other rtr's in its price range. Do you think this would be a good first time rig with room to build into something decent?
So my outlook is probably different from a lot of people, it just depends on your future plans for the rig. If you’re wanting something that you are gonna run in stock setup for a long time, this isn’t what I’d recommend. However, if you plan on modifying and upgrading, it doesn’t much matter what ya start with. I usually end up modifying all my trucks to the point where there isn’t much of the original truck left when I’m done. So a truck like this is perfect for me, because it’ll be completely different when I’m done, and it is about the cheapest starting point. If you’re just wanting a solid stock truck to drive until the wheels fall off, I’d probably go with an Axial Basecamp or a TRX4. They are both capable and tough rigs out of the box, but you will definitely be paying more for that. Kind of a strung out answer, but there are several caveats to take into consideration to answer that particular question. Also, this platform doesn’t have much aftermarket support, so quite a bit of modifying and upgrading will probably have to be custom fabrication. The other “big name” brands have a ton of aftermarket parts to upgrade with.
@@DRZ-RC Oh ok. I actually appreciate the long thought out answer. I actually just bought a crawler off a guy in our local rc group here in texas and it has a bunch of stuff done to it but I still want something that I can like make my own. I'm not looking for a comp kinda rig or anything, just something cool for the trails and to go mudding in and maybe crawl some stuff here and there.
No problem. Yea, if you’re wanting something to easily upgrade and customize, I’d stick to Axial or Traxxas. They’ve got the biggest aftermarket and are proven tough and capable. I’ve got plenty of videos of both, plus endless videos on here that can give you more detailed info and ideas. For me personally, I like to either start with a cheaper used rig and use that as a foundation, or I’ll just build something from scratch using random parts and pieces from other trucks and brands. I tend to Frankenstein most of my rigs, and it usually works out for the best. Either way, ya can’t go wrong as long as you’re enjoying yourself!
Thanks, the one i bought is on an axial 10.2 chassis. It actually was running fine and when i went to put a new battery in, the throttle reversed in it so i hit the throttle reverse switch on the transmitter but now in reverse I can get it to creep but in forward its full throttle no matter what.
Right on. That’s definitely a good one to start with for sure. Without knowing exactly what electronics are in it, it’s hard to say what’s wrong there. Should be a simple fix though. You’re more than welcome to send me a message on FB or IG with the details, and maybe a picture of the setup in the truck and I could possibly help ya figure it out, if ya need help that is. If not, all good, just thought I’d offer.
Those boggers look and run good on there! Shocks look similar to what I have on mine right now, those RC4WD shocks? It’s a surprisingly good truck isn’t it lol
The shocks are RCAWD, the cheap version of RC4WD apparently. The Boggers are actually 1.9”x5.4”, gives it a more old school accurate look. I can definitely see potential with this rig. I’m sure I can make something pretty sweet out of it!
@ apart from pretty much all the electronics needing replaced and shocks, it can do pretty well. I have had the pins in the steering joints start to back out but that was after quite a bit of running. Just something to keep an eye on if you hear clicking.
@NEO-RC right on. Yea, it’s gonna get a good tear down and going over, when the first round of upgrades show up. I’m sure everything needs re greased and bolt check at minimum. Should turn out pretty sweet when finished.
Sweet! You got an Atlas 🤙 it does pretty good for what it is. Not sure if they still have the option but there’s mounts hanging by the chassis for optional leaf springs. I didn’t find that out till I cut them off because they hit the links and limit suspension travel. It’s a cool truck though. A fusion SE really helps it. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Yep, as cheap as it is, I figured it’d make for a good budget trail beater project. Planning on keeping everything as cheap as possible, but still being solid and dependable. Obviously it’ll get a rusty patina paint job, that’s why I went with the yellow one, I’ve never worked with a yellow rig before. Should be a fun adventure start to finish. Merry Christmas to you as well!
@ for the price it’s definitely a good budget project. I’m interested on how you weather the body. I haven’t started that, have an idea but a lot going on at the moment.
There’s a small chance I may make a weathering video, not 100% sure though, making workbench type videos really isn’t my cup of tea. I try to avoid the other side of the camera as much as humanly possible, but we shall see how it goes. I just got another (cheap) airbrush and compressor, so hopefully this one will work better than the last, it’d be nice to at least make it through a whole body before it takes a dump.
@ right with you on not wanting to be in front of the camera and I don’t do many how to videos either. Was wondering if a airbrush system would be worth getting. Never messed with on before so that’s a whole nother learning process lol
So since I’m just starting out with the air brushing thing, I’ve just been trying super cheap options. But I think I’m starting to like it enough, I may have to get a decent setup. These really cheap ones are dang near throwaways because they clog up in some unfortunate spots and ya can’t really get them super clean. They definitely add another level to the weathering and patina, but I’m not sure I’ll ever have any other use for them than that. It is worth diving into some RUclips videos for research before deciding what to buy.
Merry Christmas 🎄🎄
Merry Christmas to you as well!
Very nice video! I keep blinking at the transition.
Thanks, much appreciated! Glad to hear it, I tried to space out the transitions just right for people to blink between clips, that way yall don’t miss a second of the video Lol 😂
Im no expert but maybe try a rear upper link riser? Change the angle of the dangle and push that front end down some anti-squat🙂
I don’t have the clearance at full compression to raise the upper links, but even if I did, I don’t think I need anti-squat on this particular rig. Being rwd, I need that squat in the rear for traction. I can fix the torque twist and flopping over with a rear sway bar and a better set of tuned shocks that are better suited for this application. The shocks on the truck here have little to no oil in them anymore, so they are way under damped and over sprung. Probably gonna go with some longer shocks in the rear as well, it could use a bit more travel. This was just a proof of concept run, there are a lot of changes to be made before I’d even remotely call it done or “ready to rip”. I appreciate the input though.
Merry Christmas Jim 🎄
Merry Christmas to you too Tony 🎄
That wrecker looks fantastic! Hope people know you made that bed and wrecker arm from scrap metal and links. You have some great builds but this one is my favorite. The fenders make the dually look stock. So nice 👍
Thanks man, I appreciate that! Definitely put some time and effort into this one!
Well there is 23 minutes I can't get back. But you know what? I LOVED every one of those 23 minutes. That rig, the scenery, music, and the premise of the video are awesome. It put a smile on my face this morning at work. Merry Christmas to you and yours! Keep it up!
Thanks, much appreciated! I wasn’t expecting the second half of that comment, after seeing the preview of the first line in my notifications. Lol. Well done! A smile is all Im shooting for here. Merry Christmas to you as well!
@DRZ-RC I'm a smart @ss. Seriously though, the video was great. Love the rig!
Same here. Lol. Glad ya enjoyed it. Always more to come
Looks like a great place for crawling 👌
Yea, it definitely was. I’d really like to go back again one of these years, now that I’ve got some more capable rigs!
Oklahoma!? That’s a drive lol awesome crawling location though! Excellent video.
Yea, that was back when I traveled for work and got to visit all kinds of awesome locations along the way. This place was an absolute blast! Definitely could’ve spent a few days crawling around out there.
Please forgive the poor quality video, some of these clips were recorded on a flip phone. This is what I did before RC took over my life!
Hope to see it at BTC 2025
I’m sure it’ll be there, hard to say what it’ll look like by then though. This one changes setups more often than most of my fleet.
The patina is perfectly done...
Thanks, very much appreciated! It actually looks better in person than it does on camera.
@DRZ-RC I'm sure it does.😏.. It looks real...👏🏻💯
Yea, the Tamiya weathering and rust pigments really take it to the next level. Really gives it the texture and color of rust! This was my first time using an airbrush for shadowing as well, so the next patina job should be even better. I learn something new with every weathering job.
@DRZ-RC 🐐
Now thats a dually!!
Yessir! Cuttin’ cookies on ice… ‘Tis the season!
A whole different level of fun! Im definitely curious to see it finalized brother... Good stuff! 👊
Yea, me too. It should be pretty sweet once I get done with it!
awesome truck and video
Thanks, much appreciated
Ole Blue looks awesome with duallies! I like the wheels too! Are those RC4WD wheels?
Thanks. Honestly, I don’t have a clue what the wheels are. They came with the CEN dually, along with the tires and inserts, but there was no packaging with them (the wheels) to identify a brand.
@ oh okay, they look great ole blue there
Yea, I’ve thought about making some dually fenders and keeping them on here, but they are gonna end up on the CEN F450 dually, after I put the lift kit on it. Since they are glue on wheels, I just wanted to be sure everything was gonna hold up to some abuse before I start on that lift kit project. They seem to be holding up just fine!
She Moves So Scale and Is Very Sexy 😊
looks great!
Thanks
Cool truck...nice job...
Thanks
That K10 looks so good, so does the scx6. Awesome crawling spot too. Killer video! 🤙🤘
Thanks man. Definitely the best spot around.
Its a baby UDR
Yea, kinda-ish. It’ll be one unique unit when finished!
You'll have to do a short with 5fdp music
@@hellorc7678 💯 agree with that
Yea, I should have a couple clips from the Quarry today, that’d make for good shorts.
Thanks for the shout! That rig is absolutely sick looking. Live the 5fdp theme. Too bad you can't use their music in your video! We definitely need to Crawl soon
Thanks. Yes, it would’ve been awesome to use their music, but I’d hate to see the price on that copyright lease. I’m definitely ready to bring some new toys over to Crawler County for sure!
Man that looks awesome! I appreciate the hell out those graphics, FFDP is another one of my favorite bands and really did that well. 👍👍🤘🤘 And thanks for the shout out! Really appreciate that.
Thanks. I honestly didn’t spend a whole lot of time on this one, and my cheapo airbrush wasn’t cooperating at all, so it definitely could’ve been better. There’s always next time though. I am pretty happy with the outcome for now. No problem man.
@ I think it looks awesome
Much appreciated man
nice!
Thanks
thumbs up
Thanks
🤙 awesome 🤙
Thanks man
That was as funny as it was epic🤙✨
Thanks
Sweet! Was wondering when we were gonna see the I-beam build. Nothing wrong with doing a test run to see how it all works. Looks like a lot of fun, got the tire lift like IFS stadium trucks do. Really cool! I like it! And I’m sure you’ll get it dialed and running good. Very cool!! 👍😎
Thanks. Yea, it’s definitely got the tire lift… it’s got way too much at the moment. It was dang near uncontrollable. I’ll probably do a couple more “test runs” with this junk body before I get the General body mounted. Definitely want to get the sway bar and steering dialed before I put a good body on it. It is a blast though, actually had way more traction than I figured it would!
@ does that twin I-Beam kit seem pretty durable? I remember it being a little pricey but dang it looks fun. What rear stabilizer brace are looking at or you just gonna make one?
@ So, in hand while assembling, the plastics do seem to be somewhat flimsy. However, you can see in the video, everything appears to be pretty solid and stout. That’s why most of the video was shot in SLO MO, so I could see exactly how everything was moving. I’m not 100% sure what sway bar I’ll go with just yet. Mostly because I may end up using a different rear axle. I’d really like to use an AR60 to widen the stance a bit and improve stability, but I’d have to either flip the trans or use a different trans because with this setup the upper link is in the way of the driveshaft since the diff is offset on the AR60. So blah blah blah, technical stuff, I’ve got some figuring to do and decisions to make and once I land on a final rear axle, that’ll determine what sway bar setup I go with. Regardless, I think this is gonna be a stout enough setup to really have some fun with.
@@DRZ-RC maybe they made the plastics to flex a little bit but I didn’t see any in the video. I was looking at it pretty closely, didn’t see any. Definitely be interesting to see what setup you use with the rear axle and stabilizer.
@NEO-RC yea, I thought about getting one of the aluminum I-Beam kits, but I figured the plastic would end up lasting longer. Seems good so far. It’ll be interesting to see how the rear ends up, you know me, I gotta be different! lol
You put’em through a good test. Were you using stock foams? Looks like they’re a little firm but could because of the cold. Did good some of the climbs, slipped a bit on others and They look good. They’d definitely be a fine trail tire the way it climbs the roots and tree lol good test 👍
Thanks. Yea, I used the stock foams for the first run. They did quite a bit better than I was expecting. I’m curious to see how they do when it’s warmer. They definitely need a softer insert as well. Regardless, I’ve actually got some high hopes for these in the future, I think I can make them work.
@@DRZ-RC nice, if you like them, run them! Hard to really tell if you’re not the one driving.
@NEO-RC right. You can definitely tell more about a tire by feel when driving, as opposed to just seeing it, especially on video and not in person.
Thanks for sharing this nice video. I like the style. Let's have a look how the tires perform, when the temperatures are much higer next year. -[8-D
Yep, that’s the plan. Based on how they felt so far, I’m guessing they should actually do pretty well in warmer temperatures. I’ve got hope for these.
Wow nice truck...
Thanks
Those 3Brothers servos are really nice! you have that rig setup wide with those deep dish offset wheels, looks and crawls good! 👍 your rear steering is super smooth!
Yea, the G13 Pro is the best servo for the money, in my opinion. I run them in everything. This was just a test of what these goofball tires could actually do with a capable rig. Neither set are ever gonna be run on the Capra, I was just curious of capabilities of the tires for another project. The Fling Kings are actually glued onto a set of monster truck wheels. I couldn’t find a set of beadlocks wide enough… at least none that weren’t ridiculously expensive anyways.
@ I’m using the G13 servo in my “comp” rig, and I say that loosely lol but it’s the fastest servo I’ve used so far. It’s amazing how much time one can kill just searching for parts.
@NEO-RC yea, parts shopping can get dangerous. I definitely stand behind those G13’s though. I’m pretty sure every servo I’ve got at the moment is a G13 with the exception of two, which one happens to be a 3BRC G14 in the Ole Blue TRX4 and the new CEN dually came with an Amazon 25 kg. So I need to get a couple more at some point. Lol.
Great job on the patina. That came out really nice!
Thank you, much appreciated!
amazing job
Thank you, much appreciated
You certainly did justice to Ole Blue with that model, looks very scale, very realistic. Patina looks flipping amazing. Wheels look period too, man that looks good! Is that a traxxis body or pro-line? Great job 👍
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. This was the stock Copper colored TRX4 body that I’ve been running. You can still see the copper color in a couple spots around the windows, where my masking cuts weren’t perfect. It’s much easier when starting from scratch with a new body, but when you have to mask off the stock window stickers, it’s a bit more difficult. The factory stickers aren’t ever placed perfectly in the molded window area, so it’s kinda rough trying to cut out around the stickers and not the actual window molds. That’s one of the good things about a paint job like this though, it doesn’t have to be perfect, and actually looks better with more mistakes and whatnot. These weathered paint jobs are definitely my favorite.
@ it looked like a trx4 body because of that roll bar. So you painted the outside correct? Did you have to scuff up the lexan to get the paint to stick or will it just apply like the inside? Never tried painting the outside of a lexan body but I do have plans to try a patina paint fairly soon. Without precut window masks, that gotta be a pain to mask off. I had a hell of a time masking the one body I did paint and there wasn’t much masking
@NEO-RC yea, I do all the weathered paint jobs on the outside of the body. Usually just tape off the windows and stuff the rest with an sos pad, just enough to break up the smooth surface of the lexan. Masking with tape isn’t terrible when you’re not having to follow the stickers that the factory put on crooked. It’s not too bad when you’re just following the actual edges of the windows in the mold.
@ I’m going to try a patina body before too long. I was thinking about how do it from the inside but can’t wrap my head around the layering lol.
@NEO-RC I’ve thought about it many times, and the biggest issue I come back to is that no matter how you go about doing it, it’ll always be glossy/shiny finish since it’s all inside the lexan. And shiny rust/weathered paint will never look quite right. There may be someone out there that can make a convincing patina inside lexan, but it ain’t me.
👍
Such a bad ass looking truck. Don’t see long bed duallys very often. A great base to build a lot of different projects. Very nice sir. 😎
Thanks man. This one is gonna be a fun one for sure. I think it’ll end up with a gooseneck trailer, seems fitting for this particular truck. Plus it came with a giant box full of goodies, which I will go over in the next video. I’m definitely looking forward to this project!
😂 great video!
Thanks. I’ve got one heck of a mud hole going here, it’s getting out of hand

This hole has escalated very quickly! I’m gonna have to build a bounty hole killer type truck to even have a chance at making more than one pass through this one.

It definitely makes for some quality entertainment!
Awesome 🤘
Thanks
