I live in Long Island I’m wondering if I should get Mitsubishi standard are Mitsubishi hyper heat Our winters haven’t been that bad in the last few years need a little advice
Coincidence... I've got a Klimt sitting under my A/C too.
Hello. The weekend past 11/22/24 I installed a brand new single zone 36000 Btu Mr cool unit. The line coming out of the compressor is hot, but the air coming from the air handler inside is not warming the room at all, 60*, even though the unit is set at 80*, outdoor temp is 45*. What steps to take to see if there is a reset to cure problem, or if the unit is defective? Thank you. I check all the lines with soap solution after tightening them and detected no leaks. I assume that the right amount of refrigerant was pumped into the lines and the compressor.
Do you need a separate Cielo device for each room?
I read that MSAC's can become quite loud, utilize refrigerants, which may adversely impact the environment, refrigerant leakage from mini-split systems could result in the depletion of the ozone layer and can accumulate dust and debris that compromises indoor air quality. Are these accurate in your view? Thank you.
You don't really need a pro for Mitsubishi install unless you want the warrantee. However, you def need to buy some equipment such as a good vacuum pump and electronic Testo type gauge equipment. The gauges are error prone. The typical homeowner errors are refrigerant leaks. You need the equipment to determine if you have a leak. 24/7 teeny leak means no heat next winter.
Thank you. You helped me out.
What are the failure rates for Mr Cool? I'm thinking that if I install a Mini Split in new construction, the refrigerant lines will not be accessible if either the indoor or outdoor unit fails. If that's the case, is it worthwhile to go with the pre-charged lines? Say I got a replacement unit under warrantee. How do you remove the old unit and dispose of the refrigerant per EPA rules?
I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and my contractor recommended the Mitsubishi MXZ-SM60NAM for my 2100sqft home which is well insulated. I did my own Manual J calc which shows I need around a 3 ton unit. I was able to convince the installer to go down to a 4 ton system (MXZ-SM48NAM) instead of the 5ton he recommended. Due to the home being split level we have to run a 3 air handler ducted system. I see that this system will no qualify for the tax credit. Can you recommend a Mitsubishi system that will qualify for the tax credit? For reference the air handlers are 2 x SVZ-KP18NA and PEAD-A12AAB.
Close your eyes with this video playing and now you’ve just done mushrooms… lol
that's one interesting perspective!
@ your sound is gnarly
My SUZ-KA was made in Japan and the indoor SVZ-KP was made in Mexico. Bought them from Got Ductless and they are working great!
It’s great to hear you’re having a good experience with your system!
its not cilio, its Ci e lo
We did figure out our mistake after recording. Whoops
What a freaking waste of time! OIN Top of the garbage audio the information is rubish too!
Thanks for your explanation very well done
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mitsubishi is an established commercial brand, so parts will be available years later.
Yes! Mitsubishi is a top brand in our books!
I have had a Mitsubishi for about 5 years and love it. My only complaint is installer didn't tell me that under 40F i needed to push power button to turn on internal heating unit.
We're not quite sure what you mean about having to push the power button. Do you mean just turn on the heating mode? If you want you can set the unit to Auto mode and it will shift from cooling to heating seamlessly.
@gotductlessusa slide cover of remote down and there is a button that says power and it turns on an electric element for additional heat. Not the big orange button that powers whole unit.
Installed one of these with a 12K Bosch mini split. Loved it. Customers loved the geo fencing also. One thing to note is that the Breeze Max are only for mini splits, Cielo smart I believe they call it their premium stat, that one is better for heat pump and conventional AC.
Great point ! yes, that is correct.
So is there a way to control all units from one thermostat that is not a third party?
The only way to control all the units from one place is by using the kumo cloud within the Mitsubishi environment.
$3,500 to $5,000 installation is an absolute rip-off!!! I had two Mitsubishi 9K units installed by a licensed contractor for $500...and he had to travel 1 hour and 45 minutes to get there. This was only three years ago.
$500 is wild lol it will depend on where you live but $3500-5k is definitely realistic for most metropolitan areas.
@@gotductlessusa To be clear, the units were purchased by me and the electrical wiring was already in place.
I’d have liked it if you SHOWED ME the hyper heat technology, rather than just standing there talking.
I'm not sure how we can show you....the difference is in the numbers. The fan spins identically.
Where is your showroom located? what state and city? If you are in Southern California I would like to visit and will need your phone # and address. Thank you
Our showroom is located in Timonium, Maryland. We are not in Southern California at this point in time.
Does using this adapter with an Ecobee thermostat yield less efficiency from Mitsubishi units, than the mhk2 thermostat, in terms of the variable speed inverter technology etc?
It can lose some inverter functionality since the protocols wouldn't 100% transfer. There are other solutions out there like the Airzone Aidoo Pro that serves as the same interface adapter that uses both dry contact and cloud services to ensure that there is no restriction in communication
Im thinking of purchasing 3 of these for a 3 unit multifamily house i purchased. each unit is roughly 600-800 square feet and id love to have these for central air and heat for my tenants. will this work well for that? keep in mind this will be the only source of heating for the tenants and im in southern Michigan.
If it gets colder than -13F then I would have a backup heat source just in case but yes these units would be a great option for each of the units.
question:: can it be used as a sudo-ceiling fan? like without running the AC pump system in winter to just move air around the room.
You technically could just use it as a fan. That's an expensive fan though.
@@gotductlessusa yeah i ended up getting a Minisplit Wallmount full kit from amazon for $750. comes with everything needed to install. but thank you for the reply!
Agreed this is best video I have seen for Mr Cool so far, Great job guys, thank you this was very helpful!
Thanks so much for the compliment!
awesome video
Thanks for watching!
Does the thermostat on the Cielo override the thermostat on the head unit? I am interested to see if using one of these will stop short cycling of our ceiling installed Mitsubishi head units.
It will override. The indoor unit is able to take commands from 2 controllers. It will just use last command.
@@gotductlessusa Thanks. To be clear, the temperature sensing will be done with the thermostat in the Cielo and not the head unit? I want to target the temperature across room from head unit at about table height (not the temperature at ceiling when head unit is). Also, no problems with Cielo compatibility with Mitsubishi heads?
So below minus 13 do you build a fire under the outdoor coil?
Ha! That is great. Burn fossil fuels or other resources for heat in temperatures colder than -13F.
I have hundreds of happy customers with the Mitsubishi Hyper Heat systems. They work great at 15 degrees Fahrenheit. You just have to size the system properly for cold climates.
Awesome to hear. Thanks for the feedback!
The copper lines on mine are sweating so much in the walls. They have insulation on them but it still sweats. I can’t find anyone having similar concerns…
Is every inch of the copper insulated? If it is 1/2" insulation, and its thoroughly covered, you shouldn't be seeing pipe sweat. Make sure there are no gaps in insulation as well.
when will there be a review of the AY model
The AY models are not yet released. There are no visuals are data available as of yet. As soon as there is information available, we'll release a series about the new refrigerant changes as it pertains to Mitsubishi
Is there any other brands that are universal to use on mini splits like cielo?
Are you referring to a wifi controller or a thermostat that is wifi capable? There are other options out there but we have found Cielo to be the most reputable. You can always get Nest or Ecobee but it seems Cielo has closer ties to ductless manufacturers.
@@gotductlessusa yes, I was referring to thermostat that is WiFi capable with the mini spilt.
For cooling capacity, does humidity level of ambient air play a role in sizing?
correction on question: Should humidity of outside air play a role in sizing especialy for cooling?
great question! It should be considered when sizing. Mainly the consequences of oversizing your system will be harsher in higher humidity areas. You want to make sure you are not installing overly sized units in your rooms because then the units will cool down the room quickly and turn off and will not properly pull out moisture fast enough.
@@gotductlessusa Thank you. That makes sense. Another aspect that might play a role in my own home is handler placement and room layout as follows: With the thermostat located within the airhandler, the desired temp is reached pretty quickly (heating and cooling) in the immediate vicinity of the airhandler, but not as quickly elsewhere in the room. Due to my living room layout, the airhandler is not placed in a central spot. (The system still does better than my old heating and cooling.) But now I am thinking about installing a remote thermostat, if I can find one that works with my minisplit. Do you have experience or thoughts on this?
Thanks for doing what you do,
Thank you for the video. Can I install the indoor unit with the line set coming out of the left side and out the wall to the outdoor unit? So looking at it from the front and the line set coming out the left side along the wall then outside? So I will not be drilling holes behind the indoor unit.
Yes, you can. Just make sure you are not kinking the line-set when turning it outside
@@gotductlessusa it will go straight out no bending involved. The connection will be behind the indoor unit because it doesn’t reach all the way. So the line set will be running to the left not left rear <--
Thank you for the info. I have a 16x11x8’ ceiling sun room. Three of the walls are 6’ slat windows will the 9k be sufficient or should I get a 12k unit? I live in Chicago. I will be covering the windows in the winter with marine grade vinyl
if you are unsure go with the higher size. You don't want to install a unit that will be insufficient. It will kill your efficiency gains.
Read it takes more btus to heat my space like just under 700. I'm thinking a 24k unit
Nice video. I would appreciate one going through the steps of install. There have been problems related to that install here at my housing development that I believe are related to connecticity. Thanks for explaining the component relationship of this 3 part system.During the Kumo Cloud iwreless install, the app asks for the installer ID. Can I bypass this? The HVAC company says I can bypass with 9999, will this work?
I believe there is a 10 digit code that is required but this is just a phone number. If they are a diamond contractor then you can use their phone number
Mitsubishi vs. Mr. Cool? Neither. Consider the EG4. It runs on solar panels or household 110VAC. Cools in summer, heats in winter, on solar panels. My electric bill loves it.
Interesting product. This could be good for single room applications and/or moderate climates. We'll look them up! Thanks for the heads up
@@gotductlessusa Not just single room applications. Our kitchen and dining room goes from one side of the house to the other and it freezes both rooms. It keeps our central air and furnace from coming on during the day. If we keep the doors open, it will get into other rooms too. If my wife sits at the table, she will be wearing a blanket. Cannot use it at night as there will be no central air in other rooms at night which we need. This is why we do not have it connected to the household power, solar only. It definitely reduced our power bill. We usually get at least one $500 to $600 electric bill in the summer; this year we did not get that. The highest was about $300. Our high temps were around 100 degrees this summer.
@@heroesandzeros7802 How's the heat? I'm considering the EG4.
Did a little reading in the manual and spoke with a couple more experienced techs- how involved is cleaning the blower wheel since, to my understanding, its resting in the "V" space above the evaporator coil
Mr. Cool warranty. Limited Lifetime* & 7 Yr Replacement* on Compressor + 5 Yr Parts 4th Gen DIY®s have an optional LIMITED LIFETIME compressor warranty*, a 7-year compressor replacement* warranty, and a standard 5-year parts warranty for the original registered owner.
That is true. Thanks for the feedback!
No contact, the Mitsubishi is the winner. For the DIY guy, if they want to do it every 3 years, on the Mr cool system, more power to them. I'd rather have a system that I don't worry about for 12 years. One person commented on the audio quality, I have to agree.
Thanks for the feedback! You are right. We put a lot of effort into the video and then found our audio to be trash :'(
Hello, I have a Senville SENL24CD/IX. I am needing to remove the squirrel cage fan but there is no access to the motor retaining screw. Based on the maintenance manual it looks as though the evaporator needs to be lifted up on the motor side to access the retaining screw. Unfortunately the refrigerant lines going through the wall will not allow me to raise the evaporator. Is this the design? It's basically impossible to do unless I pull the unit off the wall way high in the air just for routine service?
No clue! We don't sell Senville due to issues like this :)
@@gotductlessusa I did find a video that shows how. It's a bunch of hard to get to screws and you lift the right side of the evaporator just enough to get a screwdriver in there to loosen the retaining screw. Thank you for responding. I will be replacing this unit with a Mitsu since the cleaning didn't fix it.
Just to feedback that your voice is super soft but the sudden music is loud.
Thank you for the feedback. We can always be better!
Working for minisplit Brand innovair?
No, this is a Mitsubishi specific product.
Does the position of the head unit relative to the outdoor unit affect the need for a pump? My understanding is that a head unit creates the condensate. We're getting varying quotes for a ductless mini split for a garden level basement. The head unit is on an exterior wall, about two feet above ground. So i assume gravity will take care of it. The line set coming out of the head unit, through the exterior wall, can be sloped. However, maybe the head unit being lower than the top of the outdoor unit somehow compromises that? I can't figure out why they are quoting for a pump. It's a well known, locally owned company. They just keep saying "you need it in a basement install"even after the site visit.
As long as the wall mounted unit is above ground level and is mounted on an exterior wall there should be no reason for a condensate pump. It does not matter if the indoor unit is below the outdoor unit as the condensate comes from the indoor unit and is not related to the outdoor unit. There might be another factor at play that you can ask about?
@@gotductlessusa the other two companies did not feel we needed it. We are also in an extremely dry climate (front range of Colorado) so I can't believe there will be much condensate anyway. We have a Mitsubishi hyperheat unit heating and cooling a finished garage: the condensate coming off that is barely detectable. I just wanted an outside opinion that wasn't affected by price. Thanks so much
I am considering at 4-zone mini split ( having 4 wall consoles ) to air condition 2 large ( 400 sq ft ) bedrooms and 2 small bedrooms ( 200 sq ft ) on the same floor. The LG offering - LG-L4H36F09091212 - has much better dialed down capacity as it can go down to 8400 BTU for cooling and 10080 for heating. A similar 4-zone system for Mitsubishi - MXZ-4C36NA4-U1 - dials down to 11700 for cooling and only 18300 for heating. This is very important difference as my two small bedrooms will have very light load particularly in shoulder season. But Mitsubishi has an advantage - they offer 6K btu indoor ceiling cassette and LG has lowest as 9K. Surprisingly, Mitsubishi has no min cooling/heating rating for the ceiling cassette, while LG does say that its 9K wall console has min cooling/heating as 4270/4600 btu - which makes it competitive if not better from 6K Mitsubishi ceiling cassette for small rooms. Do you think I should opt for LG option , despite Mitsu being perceived as higher quality product ?
If you set your remote controllers to Auto for Mitsubishi you would avoid this issue altogether. In our opinions and experience, we have seen less issues with Mitsubishi overall.
Mr Cool is easiest to install, but much pricier than a Medea mini-split and vacuum pump ($70 Amazon). You need the pump to suck down the supply lines and indoor unit before opening the pre-charged refrigerant. Also allows you to cut-flare the tubing for correct length rather than having to coil extra tubing like w/ Mr Cool. You can use the vac pump later on your automotive AC. Medea (China) makes most mini-split brands (Pioneer, Della, ...) except a few (Mitsubishi, Daikin, ...). A few mini's (ex. EG4) can run on a combo of grid plus solar panels (direct, no inverter needed).
That is one way of doing it. Except good luck getting replacement parts for Midea units
@@gotductlessusaMrCool is made by Midea.
You didnt mention anything about humidity. If you live in a very humid area, it makes sense to slightly undersize the unit so that it runs longer and will dehumidy.
That is true! This is an issue if you completely oversize and the room gets chilled faster than it can dehumidify. This is especially a factor in more humid climates. thanks!
Is a 2x6 wall deep enough to run a line inside? I’d like to run the inline set inside the wall for a few feet before I could get down into a space behind a kneewall and run the line set out the end of the house in a traditional way.
Yes, 100%
A Btu was originally defined as the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one pound of liquid water by one degree Fahrenheit at a constant pressure of one atmospheric unit. There are several different definitions of the Btu that differ slightly.
Yes!
