Backbone Trail MTB Ride. 1st Run. Epic!!! Santa Monica Mountains, CA
I rode this one from my place and back which was total of 62 miles. Most people start at the Trailer Canyon Trailhead, and ride up to Hub Junction to refill some calories and rest. Returning the same direction, Backbone trailhead will be on your left. It is a narrow single track. Many turns are blocked by vegetation, so watch out for hikers especially around the bridge area as most people hike just to this point. Link to All Trails is below.

Mountain Biking in Palm Springs Cathedral Canyon/Hahn Trail
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.4 года назад
This trail starts just off Channel Drive/Foothill Road in Cathedral City and connects to Dunn road which leads to Riders Oasis. From there you can take Hahn trail and make a loop. All together roughly about 11 miles. We rode the opposite direction plus some extra and made 18.5 miles. Returning to the trailhead is so much fun, because of the steep fast sections. Must run tubeless as there is a l...
Sycamore Canyon Mountain Biking - Malibu, CA. Newbury Park to PCH

Sycamore Canyon Trail is a 15.2 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Malibu, California. It is pretty easy gravel road with few paved sections, however you can connect to different trails which offer nice climbing and quite fast descends. www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/big-sycamore-canyon We rode to get some tacos at Ruperto's Kitchen and they definitely hit the spot. ...
Lower Monroe Truck Trail MTB Shred - Glendora, CA (Cube Stereo 140)

Lower Monroe Truck Trail is a 15.4 mile point-to-point Mountain Biking/Hiking trail located near Glendora, California that offers some amazing views of the City and surrounding mountains. This trail can be ridden in each direction, but I highly suggest taking the Glendora Mountain Road to the gate just before Horse Canyon Saddle and drop from there. With riders coming down especially on the wee...
Glendora Mountain Road - Fast Ride on a Gravel Bike (Cannondale Topstone GRX)

Full descend on Glendora Mountain Road from Mount Baldy Village. This ride is 22 miles each way and even on the way back there are several climbs to overcome including the monster climb right at the beginning. We did this ride on Saturday, August 1st and it was almost 100 degrees. This is one of the most beautiful roads as it is closed to through traffic most times, but definitely not for begin...
Mountain Biking Paseo Miramar Trail. L.A. and Ocean Views

This trail has great high speed sections, but still just a fire road with shallow turns where you can easily wash out. Also, watch for hikers especially on the weekends. Link to All Trails included below. www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/paseo-miramar-trail
Mountain Biking to 14252 ft. White Mountain Peak (2019 Labor Day)
Просмотров 8685 лет назад
White Mountain Peak is 14252 feet and it is the highest summit in the White Mountains range. Twice per year the locked gate is opened, so you're able to drive up to the Barcroft Research Station and began Mountain Biking, or Hiking from 12700 feet. We started this ride from the locked gate and round trip to summit and back took us 4 hours and 16 minutes. It is a fairly easy ride with the except...
Tuna Canyon Road Descend - Malibu. 55mph on a Bike?

Ride to Topanga and descending via Tuna Canyon on October 21st. 2018.
You need to work on your line and cornering…
Definitely. I only have been mountain biking for 35 years, so maybe I need to practice more.😂
Hard to tell, but I wouldn't worry about snakes much. We usually go early morning.
What’s the best time of day and time of year to ride this with children and to avoid rattlesnakes
They should fix the road up and launch rockets from there. Drop the stages into Death Valley.
Nice riding. It seems like there's so many hikers there
Yes this was on the weekend, so there was several hikers especially the bottom part. Much better during the week.
Nice video. Which camera do you use? I like the wide angle :)
Thanks. I actually edited this with a program that wasn't able to save UHD, so the footage is not clear. I used GoPrp Hero 7 Black on Superview. 4k 30fps.
Do you have a Strava so I could follow you directions on there
I do.
Looks like fun.
Where do you drive to ,to start from where u started I went to try and find the trail but I started at the end 😩 kinda hard to start from there up .
You start at Dunn Road Access Trail. It's quite a bit of climbing untill you reach the abandoned buldozer, which is Rider's Oasis. To the right will be Hahn Trail. We rode further up the Dunn Road and made a loop taking the Hahn trail back which wasn't ideal as it was a lot of climbing that way.
One of the best trails at Malibu/PCH-1!
Definitely.
I am heading to white mountain for a hike this Sunday. I was thinking of taking my mountain bike with me. If it is to tough to ride my bike to the peak. Would I be able to ride my bike down from the camp back to the road the 16 miles? That way I can take a ride with someone to the gate and when we finish the hike I can ride on my bike down?
Yes you can ride from the locked gate Campground. However while coming back you still have to do some climbing. I'm jealous. I want to go again. Good plan. I would love to ride from the locked gate all the way down to Big Pine.
@@sandykavor8434 Thank you very much for getting back to me. How was the ride up? Did you had to push the bike up a lot or you were able to ride the all way up. I am an occasional rider maybe mostly on blue trails. I have never been there and I am not sure how the trail is.
@@omarjanak it's a tough ride because of the altitude mostly. We did have to push bikes especially before the summit. The rocks are chunky and loose.
How was your White Mountain Peak trip?
Nice video. Been trying to decide on the topstone carbon 5 and 105. Only reason for the carbon is the kingpin “suspension”
Thank you. The aluminum feels pretty good, but I recently rode a bike with Redshift suspension seatpost and that thing is pretty awesome. Seemed like a gimmick at first, but it actually does work well. I may consider getting that as well as the suspension stem to smooth out the ride.
Is this the Cannondale Topstone Carbon 5?
Aluminum Topstone 105. Full top of the line GRX upgrade and Hope Fortus 23 wheelset. It was pretty much stripped to bare frame.
biking in Malibu looks amazing!!
For sure. I might go back and do a different trail.
@@sandykavor8434 I’m in Minnesota, so most of my biking is the flat plains. But it’s still a good work out and to get out in nature. I use to live in San Diego and had a mountain bike out there too. I didn’t do as much biking as I wished I did out there.
@@515ventures3 I see. Minneapolis has a good bike paths I heard. Interesting though since it gets so cold, but cycling is convenient especially in cities which are mostly flat.
@@sandykavor8434 Yup it gets very chilly up here. Biking is just about to begin and will go until the end of October. About 7 months of good biking.
Are you guys...sitting down the entire time??
No. Not when descending on rough sections.
Man.. I want some tacos now. Doing this trail on Saturday!
Wish I could join. My girlfriend has her car with the bike rack. I rode hub junction and Backbone down past three Saturdays. Awesome ride.
Good beginner track?
Yes it isn't too bad for someone with less experience. However the backbone is for more advanced riders.
@@sandykavor8434 ok awesome. Just starting out so may take some time to get to backbone. Are there any blue trails out there?
@@ryanmartinez322 I didn't really check, but if you stick with the doubletrack for now to pick up the basics, you will get it fast. Just have to learn how to control the bike on loose stuff.
@@sandykavor8434 awesome! Ty so much!
@@ryanmartinez322 You're welcome. Let me know if you want to ride someday.
This trail looked like a lot of fun, great video!
Thank you. It was awesome. I'd like to do it again, but this time taking the Hahn trail the other way.
I can't imagine cycling that man...lol. The altitude would kill me
Anything over 14k is tough. The ride is very exhausting due to constant ascending and descending throughout. We started from Grandview campground. Lot of mental control for sure, but the scenery is indescribable. Beautiful place.
@@sandykavor8434 Bro...you're telling me you started miles before the ancient bristlecone pine forest and cycled all the way up the 16 mile dirt road to the trailhead? that is insane
@@bostinaycock8316 Yes sir. I know pretty crazy, but I'm crazy enough to do things like that.
Great job. I rode it from Deep springs valley. It was about 10,000 feet of climbing over 34 miles. Try it next time.
What spec is this? I know grx but what level?
It's the 800 Series mechanical.
Very nice Riding.
Great video! did you guys had tubeless? Did you carried and extra tire? Those rocks looked pretty sharp, I will be afraid of ripping up a tire.
We actually ran tubes at that time and had slime sealant inside. I'm running tubeless now. Rocks are definitely sharp especially in the first portion coming from Summit, but from the research station is pretty smooth. No spare tires, but I always carry tubolito and tire boots when riding with pack.
@@sandykavor8434 Great, Thanks!
@@NadiMich You're welcome. You should try and ride up there. Stunning views.
Nice riding! 👌
Thank you!
Wow, that looked like an amazing ride! Great video!
Thanks. I'd say it is amazing as it is exhausting, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.
what a legend
Definitely.
