Both. I use the sinking when I need the lure to get to the bottom when the stream is fast flowing or when I need the lure to dive into the strike zone quickly after hitting the water.

@@louiskriel2986 no, I use the floating by default. It really depends on the exact conditions and what I need to do to catch fish. Adapt your approach until you get success and don't limit your options based of theoretical scenarios. You need floating and sinking hornets. You will likely use the floating more often, but you need both.

@@louiskriel2986 I forgot to mention that the sinking hornet cast better in windy conditions when you still need a small lure.

In this video I used Fins Braid, but they lie about the diameter and it's too thick. I use Berkley Black Velvet 20lb now.

@@Worsdier thanks buddy I recently bought some but it bubbled up after the clear coat , it’s probably because I didn’t let the paint cure and applied it while moisture was still in the paint

@@ivanmartinez031 did you make a lure or a foam popper? I assumed your initial question was about a foam popper since that is what this video is about, but now it sounds like you are talking about a lure? For the foam popper you do not have to seal it, but a painted lure will require a coating to protect the paint. The paint and clear coat you used are't compatible and that is why it bubbled. What kind of paint were you using, acrylic, lacquer or enamel? What clear coat are you using exactly?

@@Worsdier I made it from feather lite than I painted with acrylic paint and than clear coated with epoxy but I didn’t wait for the paint to dry

@@ivanmartinez031 yes, paint must be dry completely. I let acrylic dry for a few days just to be sure.

They were "preparing" to spawn when this video was filmed, I'm sure they must be done by now. The carp were spawning and usually the cats spawn at the same time or shortly after feasting on a few spawning carp. Important to note that Bloemhof is large and different parts of the dam spawn at different times.

I'm using the firecracker intact, not the powder from the firecracker. The chamber is larger than the firecracker diameter so the gasses can escape into the barrel unobstructed. Only using the firecracker's powder will be allot less effective due to the low weight and loose fit of the BB.

Any reel of similar size will work, doesn't have to be a Stella. Where are you located?

Smooth-On Smooth Cast 300 mixed with microspheres (glass bubbles) to make it lighter. However, this was my first popper prototype and I no longer make them this way. A much better way is to cast the entire popper using hard foam such as Smooth-On Foam-It 15 and not have a plastic outer shell.

If you see fish turning on the surface you know they are there, but try anywhere where there aren't other people or boats nearby to cause disturbances. Also near areas where there are birds, other fish or structure is a good place to start trying.

Hi Kyle, all fish in this video were caught on Cranka Crabs 5.9g. You can buy them in SA from the Afrijigs website.

Remember to remove the trebles, only cnuts fish with treble hooks.
