Photoluminescence from nitrogen vacancy centers in diamond
Просмотров 2272 года назад
We show the photoluminescence emission from nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond excited with a 532 nm CW laser. The sample moves by about 1 micrometer at each step. The emission is captured by a CMOS camera. A long-pass filter significantly suppresses the green laser but not the photoluminescence of the nitrogen-vacancy center.
Black-body Radiation from Graphene #1

The sample is at the center of the chip carrier inside the cryostat. hBN encapsulated graphene is under a back-gate of 40 V while its source-drain sweeps from 0 to 46V. Details are in "Bright visible light emission from graphene" (www.nature.com/articles/nnano.2015.118)
Black-body Radiation from Graphene #2

Light emission by monolayer graphene (hBN encapsulated). The max voltage across the graphene reaches around 30 V as it drains a current of 3.2 mA corresponding to the power consumption of nearly 0.1 Watt!. Details are in "Ultrafast Graphene Light Emitters" (pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.nanolett.7b04324)

Hello Mr Burak. How often you see mono and bilayers of TMD using this method? Also, regarding the peeling should I do it fast or slow? I went through many places, some people say peeling should be slow, while others say its should be fast peeled. Also, do you have any tips for first timers, it’d be a big help if you can give some insights. Thank you. Thanks for sharing the video
It has been a long time since I did exfoliation. I don't have more to say than in the video.
hello,Have you ever observed a single layer of 2D material on PDMS? I found that the pieces I tore out were very large and scattered
Yes, I observed them several times.
@@hbaslan wow,how do you look for a single layer?
@@YYG-vt1lu Depending on the material, you can tell if it is a monolayer. Please check the literature or other videos on this
hello,I'm happy to have you share this experimental operation video, thank you. I have two questions. How long should I wait before removing the tape? And how thick is the PDMS being used?
1-5-10 minutes by trial and error. 1 to 2 millimeters
@@hbaslanThank you so much for your prompt reply.
You do not heat the substrate with tape up before slowly peeling. Some people heat at 100 C for ~5 mins. Does this not help?
I haven't tested that
Dear Burak , I am trying to exfoliate WS2 on PDMS but not able to get a uniform and a little bit big flake what should I do ?
Try to apply the exact recipe.
Are you using nitrogen gas for clenaing
Yes
Can you show or explain what the continuation of the video would look like in regards to demonstrating the referenced procedure?
Check the publications that used this method to see what it can yield.
@@hbaslan I have, I'm doing a project very similar to what is done in the video and publication but I'm having a hard time getting the thermal release tape to release from the gold and transfer to a clean Si substrate. What was your approach to ensuring the gold transfered?
@@vergilschreiber8050 We only did it once, I don't remember. You can find much more on the online resources
Could you please let us know the brand/name of the tape you have used for this type of exfoliation ?
Check the reference below the video and the literature for more info
@@hbaslan Hi Aslan I could not find the name, can you guide me ?
@@RadhaKrishnaGopal-vc3fz I do not know it, either
Interesting. How much current can produce such visible radiation?
A few mA is needed. Check the paper at pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.1021/acs.nanolett.7b04324 for details.
Perfectamente redondos...
Great work hocam
Cool. I am assuming you are passing current between the mid electrodes.
Yes, only between the ones where the emission occurs
THANK YOU BURAK ASIAN
What type of motor did you use for this project? Currently trying a similar setup and a nema 17 was not enough
I do not know the exact type. From the dimensions, this looks like a Nema 17 too. There are different types of Nema 17 with various lengths.
Great music 👍
Hi Buruk, how much time before you cleaned your substrate from plasma?
The effect of plasma goes away after some time, so I exfoliated soon after plasma cleaning.
nice ya
What are the maximum dimensions of the flake we can get.?
People have demonstrated other techniques and reached millimeter sized flakes.
Thanks
Please, I want to know the name and the type of the tape that is used in the exfoliation process. Could help?
Blue tape (wafer tape)
What a waste of time. If you are going to post a video on how to do something, you need to explain from the beginning what is necessary and then how to.
Hi Özgür Burak Aslan! How are you? I have a question about your exfoliate...Do you exfoliate only TMDs or other materials (graphene and hBN) too? Thank you! JSL.
Graphene is much easier to exfoliate. I do not have much experience with hBN.
@@hbaslan How we can exfoliate other 2D materials?
Working on this in my lab here at Purdue university, extremely promising materials, nice scotch tape method!
