Respect for the video, I ain't forgotten about the tutorial, will email you soon, the next few weekends are hectic so looking like first weekend of Feb but will be in touch. Keep up the good work! One more thing, will you be upgrading to 3.0 software?
cool bro 😎
Your gonna need to relate your audio output to the video recording otherwise us RUclipsrs can’t hear any subtleties.
What do you mean hear the subtitles i dont understand
@@oracleelectronicalol my bad I meant subtleties. Your trying to have me hear what you hear from your speakers. We can’t hear much a difference bro.
@@crazzylee Im working on it gotta start somewhere im learning video recording as i go no doubt the quality will improve in time as soon as i work out what i need to do feedback is great.
For all, who want this work properly you should do following: Intel Based PC, if it is possible a X58 Chipset (Best would be Asus Workstation, Sabertooth or P6T Mainboard) from 2008, Windows XP with the common tweaks-please google-. (Performance Mode settings, Force Background Services and disable all internet settings and so on) (Important: 32Bit Version!!!). On a MAC it's very unstable. Further important: Don't use USB 3 cables, the older the better! The Transmission is on the USB 1 Protocol. I use it only today for simply drag and dropping samples. I make this directly out of Reaper (yes Reaper runs on a 32 windows xp machine, what else, it's reaper😂) There, i do vocal compings, normalize and time-stretching stuff and drag it DIRECTLY from the Reaper media pool to the PADS in the PAD Editor in AkSys. Reapers Media Explorer is highly underestimated, you can do somethings there, that are simply impossible in any other DAW's Media Pools. AND: This is very efficient! I had never a problem with the connection, all works smoothly. All the other stuff i make on the mpc4000 (for this you have such an amazing mpc). This Software came from a time where all very focused to go in the box. Today, a mpc4000 user want completely the opposite🙂! Hope this help for someone
you no your pc stuff you no the setup not a lot of people no that.

@@oracleelectronica yes you do, good work brotha....
bro where do you purchase this software?
You download it from the internet
@@oracleelectronica can this software work on Mac computers
@@robmulli3723 I actually don’t know if it works on a Mac or not because I always used pc and never used a Mac
@@oracleelectronica They have it for mac, i had it on an old mac mini back in the day. It was very unstable though, seemed like it froze up or crashed every 10 min.
it’s pretty stable on pc it don’t crash mpc editor crashed occasionally but not much
that must be a really old computer cause the usb is nonfunctional on modern day computers i still use my 4000 tho
Flux capacitor
The 4000 is obsolete X usb 32 digital inputs/outputs I owned a 4000 plus and I don’t miss it. It’s too slow.
How could you diss the mpc 4k it’s a great machine
@@oracleelectronicathe machine was software update neglected. That’s how. I still thought it was dope. It was just too slow. Today it might be possible for it to boot and run via SSD to speed it up. But again neglected.
@@crazzylee mine has a standard hd and it is not slow at all
@@oracleelectronicaI realize had I put newer drives in my experience would have been a lot better. I just thought that Akai had seriously neglected the OS. When you compare to the Roland MV8000 and realize the MPC 4000 has the potential but no kind of support it’s like let’s be real. It was a good thing for Akai to have bought out because now we got support.
yeah we got support but the system is not 100 the 4k is still solid and does many things newer models cannot that’s the thing
super helpful
Glad it helped
thank you very much for these tutorials! i just got me an mpc 4000 and try to figure it out
You are welcome!
Dope!
cool
Hi, thank you for the video. I’ve been rocking the 4000 for the past 15 years, and it is now showing its age (usb is dead, pad sensor needs change with two pads dead, ide drive needs to be changed too, main outs are a bit noisy...). It is an old white unit, so probably from 2004. I see that there are lot of good deals for the 5000 on the market, i could get one for 600€, which is what repairs on the 4000 would cost me at least, and i was wondering, in your experience, if you would recommend switching to a 5000? Have a nice day :)
A good technician will be able to repair and service your 4k my advice is get it repaired and up to scratch so it’s always ready. if you haven’t got a 5k then it’s up to you if you got the spare cash then why not pick up a legacy mpc. Would I replace my 4k with a 5k the answer is no I would not replace or switch it. But that’s my opinion. The 5k is also a very good machine and it’s good to have in the collection.
@@oracleelectronica Thank you for your feedback. It confirms my feeling that the 4k is still quite unique. I also have a 2kxl, and a 1k (with JJOS) in my lineup, I like them a lot, but none has the workstation abilities of the 4k which really allows me to build a track from A to Z without any outboard gear. I have a hard time finding anyone to repair it in Paris regretfully. Happy new year :)
I didn’t realise you are in France I like the south of France you say there are no technicians in France but have you tried Holland or Germany if you send anything to the uk you will get charged uk duty tax. jjos is great I have it on a 2500 it’s very good.
I have an all analog studio and the MPC 4K is still my main work horse. I have the the I/O's installed, what's big for me is the 8 analog outs. They go into my analog mixer. I just recently picked up the Akai Key 61 because I wanted to try out the MPC software because of the quicker workflow. But I will never get rid of my 4K for me it's a beast of a unit, I use Pro Tools Native HD interfaces (I have 2 which gives me 32 channels of audio into my mixer and I sync my 4K to Pro Tools. I may pick up an MPC X since the original unit you can get at good price on Reverb.
I hear you on the 4k it’s a solid beast as a central hub I realised years ago when my pc broke down I had to plug my synths into the midi outs of the 4k and found out it runs the synths better than the pc midi The x is a beast in its own way the editing and q links are crazy lots of features on the x like pad performance it’s definitely worth it.
@@oracleelectronica I agree with you 100% percent! I am enjoying the Key 61 since I have been put in time into it for the past week since I got it. I will midi to my 4K I want to see what kind of work flow I can create with both of them. I figure with the 2 of them connected that will give me 12 analog outputs between the 2. I do have one of the old AKAI samplers in my closet, amazing back in those day Akai samplers had 16 outs like on the S5000. I wish the more modern MPC's had 16 outs :)
the 4k can play 2 different midi channels on one track that’s another bonus the x cannot do it
@@oracleelectronica That's true!
I own a 2K5 since it was released, never got an X. At first when released i really wanted one but couldnt afford, but then i saw what it was and that calmed me down. Lately, i got my hands on the new SYNCLAVIER REGEN, and this is more what i would of like a modern mpc to lean towards, its a pure gem, allthough it should more be compared to old school rack units as it doesnt sequence, you'lle ned an external unit for that (mpc is perfect). This thing is nuts and limitess, pure gem for a beattmaker, but obviously not so many got that. It's not made by a hudge company with big budget for marketting, but i think they sould of marketed it towards producers/beatmakers rather than the synth freaks, ppl should know about it...
I never heard off it until you mentioned it you should make a video on the sync regen 👍
@@oracleelectronica yes i'm planning to. the best vids online to see are starsky carr's biut they're not very in depth...
These "Synth Freaks" are guys in their 60's who actually have money to afford GEAR and have always appreciated real gear. $2500.00 isn't really that much money if you come from a time period where that's how much good shit cost versus the cheap USB crap that started to flood the market in the late 2000's that a lot of these younger beatmakers grow up using. Synchclavier knows their market... They've been around for decades.
@@christophermoody6840 yup.
@@christophermoody6840 i understand your point but synclavier wasnt around since at least 25 years, and they are two today, on of them wasnt there at the time. And yes, technology has evolved, evorybody that knows the topic will say that it's for the best. i dont really understand the link between usb and crap but that's me huh...
When the camera went from the back of the 4000 to the X it made the X look like a light weight!! What is your machine of choice?
the truth is most known samplers looks lightweight at the rear compared with a 4 k. it’s a hard choice to chose one sampler over another but as for physicality and choice of different ins and outs it’s the 4 for sample editing it’s the x
@oracleelectronica interesting! I've been looking for a 4000 but I can't find one for the right price and if I'm honest I need to master what I have before buying any more gear
you gotta be careful what you purchase alotta people been complaining about faulty gear lately
Good review, definitely agree with the gripe @9:30. Do you do tutorials? Im im the uk too and theres couple things i need to tighten up on that are stifling my work flow
come thru anytime and yes my channel has tutorial videos weekly
@oracleelectronica sorry bro I meant paid tutorials over zoom or something

I LOVED my mpc 4k truly regret selling it… although I no longer work in music I do see myself buying another. The platform was fun, easy and the sound of the 4K is 🔥 Never seen ADAT on the 4k though…. REAL NICE
I bet
WOW!!! You have all the I/O option boards installed in your MPC4000. I see you have the word clock SPDIF and AES EBU I/O as well as the ADAT I/O in addition to the 8-channel analog output expansion board. I also have the analog output expansion board as well as the internal effects processor board. However, I don't have any of the digital I/O option boards installed.
the digital I/0 is a great option on the 4k
I want a 4000, That thing's a BEAST!!! The first one I had back when they first came out was kinda jinky....
I definitely is a beast
7:16 yes please, all the little things also BRO!
3:28 do you really can 2 individual analog outputcards installing? As far as i know it is only possible to have the analog expansion and the ADAT expansion. In this case, i read somewhere, that the analog outboard is 'mirrored' to the ADAT Card (there are only 8 Outputs in analog that are sending to the adat board). Do you have some Informations about this? mannnyyy thanks!
but if there is no analog card and only ADAT card then how does the ADAT card get a signal if it’s mirrored by the analog card ?
@@oracleelectronica sorry for the late response! AFAIK the MPC4000 share the 8 Outputs. I understand this as follow: 1)only analog card = 8 Outs, 2)only ADAT card=8 ADAT Outputs, 3)Analog and ADAT Cards together= Channel 1 Analog feed the same signal as Channel 1 ADAT and so on.... This is described in the Reference Manual, the SOS review and i found also a ressource on a german forum named sequencer point de. BUT: Of course you have much more knowledge than i!🙂 Do you try 2 analogcards together? Is there a chance to work? Probably with the latest Firmware 1.71? If yes, then this would be insane! Many thanks for your content, i recommend your channel to all my mpc friends that i know👍👍👍!
@@candyproductionssouledout9682 thanks for watching
another interesting content: aksys. Drag and drop samples directly from the PC (Windows WP is requiered), thanks Bro😛
I made a video on AKSYS but have not uploaded it yet
a little hint: you can with the activated faders set the start and end points in samples.....
Nice
yesyesyes! more of that power user stuff BRO!!!!!
cool
can you make a video about scales and how to make the assignment for one pad, to play a chord? P.ex.: Pad 1: a minor 7, Pad 2: a minor 7 sus2 and so on? With one Rhodes sample, that is in the right pitch? Is it possible with the 4 Zones? cheers Bro!
feel free
Or made the screen less wide
mpc screens in the past have always sat snug if you could move them. screens that hang over have always been upgraded like on the 2500 upgrade.
Get firmware 3
I like how this os look I don’t like 3.0 view it’s got too many colours and don’t resemble an mpc in my opinion i would like to see if the issues that I brought out are fixed in 3.0 though
The computer & X are modern tech so they wont change how what you sample into sound. The ASR-10 is from the 90s & can't record the high frequencies as well which can give you the illusion they it has more bass/warmth, but that bass/warmth is still in the X you just have to you the right LP-filter to get rid of the high freqs. The ASR just gives you lofi sound from the start, but the X is better because it can sound clean & lets you the sound artist add your own style of dirt. I wish you would've just play the different sample with talking or any break in-between. It'll help to really hear the differences. I got the Force & the ASR-10 rack & been meaning to do a sound test between them & all the other samplers I got. I'll see if I can use the Force sound shaping tools to try to emulate the ASR. Peace!
I wouldn’t refer to the sound of the asr as an illusion neither would I say the x sounds better than the asr and because the x and the computer sound the same don’t mean that the x and the computer are the same because the x is newer that would mean all new samplers do not have a signature sound and sound like the source exact. I just think it’s the way the x was made it’s still got converters like any other sampler
@oracleelectronica I didn’t say the ASR-10 sound was an illusion. I said since it rolls off the highs, it can give you the illusion that it's warmer & has deeper bass, but the X can record the highs more accurately allowing you to keep it clean or dirty. This IMO makes the X a better sampler overall. The ASR-10 is better if you just want a more lofi sound from the jump, but the X can use 4 fx on the Inputs, so you could set up FXs an rack to make incoming audio sound even more lofi than the ASR. What I was saying about modern PCs & the X is that they are better at recording audio frequencies more accurately than a 16bit sampler from the mid 90s. Most samplers nowadays don't sound all that different, like back in the day. Luckily, the X has many sound shaping tools to allow you to create your own flavor. Also, the X is 24-bit at 44.1k, which has more headroom & a lower noise floor than any 16-bit sampler, so it's cleaner & can handle louder audio levels without clipping. The lower noise floor is part of the reason why it can record the high-end better.
@@Harlem-Instrumental it’s not an illusion the way the asr sounds warm it just sounds warm because it’s an asr and it has different components to other machines which gives it a distinctive sound it’s not an illusion
Also if your talking fx racks you can create an fx rack without an mpc x no matter what your sampling into in reality and if sampling into a machine results in exactly the same audio then some might say what’s the point in sampling at all you might as well import the audio instead. Have you checked my mpc 4000 comparison video it’s an older sampler but 24 bit 96 kHz.
You said clipping I bet it can’t handle overdrive better than older 16 bit samplers and even 12 bit samplers.
We have been coming a long way. Using a few FX we can get similar output w the X.
no doubt
Audition w steps is a must come back indeed.
100%
what about the mute
54:47 Save all ... sometimes when I'm not beat making and I'm just going through records and collecting good samples I capture and Name about 30 samples in a unnamed project... When ready to mass save my WAVz I got to save> Make a New folder> call it" Samples DEC 24" (or whatever) then I Save the entire Project in the "Samples DEC 24" folder but call the project DELETE me... It will mass save all you samples in that folder then later just delete the "DELETE ME" project and all the samples are still there. 👍
yes there’s always a way around it where you can save the entire project but an actual option for specifically saving all of one type of file would have been better but it’s still all good.
I have an OG X, a Live2, a Touch and a Studio Black. Each leads to a different workflow. The X is really good for editing and the Qlinks bring that special dimension. I hate that the jog wheel does not click on the X for sure. But it is a monster machine.
yes for sure it definitely is a monster
Yep I got the XOG and Its kida frustrating that you can't do everything with the buttons.... Id say at most you can do 70% with the buttons... but the other 30% you have to use the touch screen... I wanted to get my muscle memory up so I can just use hands. That's whole point of paying more for the X it dont sound better than a $400 used MPC One so at least map all the keys to the X... Seems they make most of their money off the ONE and Live so they are not to concerned with X users.
you should be able to move around every option without touching the screen I totally agree. What do you think about some of the other flaws that I mentioned?
The MPC X is more Hifi. It's cleaner sounding.
some prefer the x some prefer 4000 they are both good that’s for sure. tune in anytime
4000 has more depth and rounded off
I agree
things sound a bit more pleasing on the X maybe its placebo but i dont have an X
that’s y I make videos so everyone watching can make there own opinion it shows diversity I like both machines. thanks for watching
You can also add a ssd to replace the hhd internally makes loading ridiculously fast!
this one has a standard hd it still loads fast but I can imagine the ssd would load much faster
Why did you sample the drums in stereo?
Because the drum sample was stereo already
Somebody 411 me on qLinks, why urrbody on and on about em?
they make everything faster quicker workflow it’s a good subject for a video
@@oracleelectronica I'll keep an eye out, coming from the mpc1000, I don't remember them standing out at all, appreciate the response. Be eaZy.. oNe
COOKING
that loop brings me back to the just blaze smack dvd video......
I can’t remember if I’ve seen that part of the smack dvd it was so long ago I might look that up. Again
I havent seen the smack DVD but have seen a video on youtube him making a beat with some horn sample and this drum beat sounds just like it. Was the smack dvd the same video of him making a beat with a horn sample?
yes it was
@@Ramon-pd4os exactly what i meant..gotta be the same break..
maybe
Biggest trouble with the new MPCs is that they don't sample up to 96kb. But I love having all the qlinks though.
Yeah it’s a shame about the sample rates and stuff but the system and stuff on the x is decent I like it still
Get a z8 they fjn bang and is kinda similar to the X with some features. Most of all, it's the rack mount of the 4k
@@WaynePryce I got a MPC4000 and a MPC One. Only use the One as midi controller for vsts
they are pretty rare nowadays
@pawnotdaw4559 yea I gotta get racks from here on out..I got 3 mpcs, I had to but a live2 I saw on an auction site for 570.. Personally the live2 is my favorite cz the speakers and portability..I am learning that simple ass DAW that it comes with alot better. These machines are fool proof I'm coming to learn.
Great video bro. Good comparison. You covered all the bases. I'm already subbed, but I did thumbs up. peace!
Thanks for watching pass thru the channel anytime
I use my MPC to sequence all my old school gear. I rarely sample on it since I have a MPC 60 for that. I can make radio ready tracks easily with it once you use audio tracks.
Digging the videos so far. The Mpc X was at the top of my list when it dropped but I decided to go with the key 61 to kill 2 birds with one stone so to speak. Plus I like that the key 61 came with the amount of instruments that it does.
Yes I had to choose too I chose the x because of the full size pads and the midi io thanks for watching
The MPC X has more fidelity. They both can get it done, though.
Both are monsters
I wish they still made the EPS and ASR-10 thats where it all started for me growing up! You have a classic for sure. I hope it continues to give you many more years of music creation! 👊🏾
thankyou bro
