How I Got My Talent Manager | Storytime
Hi Celina! Thanks for always sharing the BTS of what it takes to be a working actor. I'm still at the beginning stages of auditioning and getting my routine going (especially with a day job) so videos like yours are always helpful in getting ideas of what I can contribute to my days. Wishing you the best in your auditions!!🤗
Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️ & for supporting my channel. I’m so happy to hear that you’ve found my videos helpful 🤗 I’m wishing you all the best on your acting journey!!!!!
Very informative, thank you!
Ooooo what were you auditioning for
This audition was from years ago lol 😜🙈 but I think it was for a movie called “James the Second” 😊
Congratulations!!🥳
Thank you!! ☺️
It's amazing how your stillness in the second take showed more active, simmering stuff underneath the surface. Thanks for showing the process behind this---much appreciated!
Thank you so much for your feedback & for watching the video! 🥰❤️
Thanks for making this!
Thank you for watching!! ☺️
Nice job, i thought you were more grounded in your second version; the original version seemed more playful The second is better caus eyou bring the playfulness and grounded nature to it
Thank you for your feedback 🤗
you can seeee your internal monologue in your second take. Incredible.
Thank you ❤️☺️
Hang in there, dear. It’s not easy but so is not pursuing our dreams nor moving towards our purpose in this short life
You are so right. I needed to hear that ☺️ Thank you for your encouraging words ❤️
The second is good! I can tell you took the feedback. The first one is almost theatrical for a stage and the second one would be well received for TV😊good job!
Thank you girl!! ❤️ I appreciate you taking the time to give me your feedback 🥰
Both are great First one is more fun- 2nd one you see the connection to the reader but for this character it doesn't seem necessary as they are so self absorbed Good job!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate your feedback & thanks for watching🤗
I agree with this assessment
You had to do a lot more work in the audition.
Haha thank you!!!!! I agree 😂😝
You are heaven sent!! Thanks so much I hope to see more vids like this one!! Super helpful.
Thank you so much for your kind words & for watching the video!!!!!! 🤗
❤
Omg, I swear this is me and my husband LOL! It's actually more difficult for me when he is my reader and I always feel like it's a distraction or I cannot fully embrace my role...I see I'm not the only one.
You are definitely not the only one!! I’m actually glad I’m not the only one either 🤣
so freaking talented!
Thank you!! 🥰
Congratulations Celina! I was wondering, could you list all the tools you used to record your self-tape? Your lighting looks so nice and where can I get that blue background because it looks so good! Also, what do you recommend for someone who lives in a noisy corner and has to record a self-tape? Is there a trick you recommend to make the room soundproof?
I have 2 softbox lights that I use for lighting. I got them as a Christmas gift one year & I’m not sure what brand they are, but if you search for “softbox lights” on Amazon, you will see a ton of different options 😊 I use a collapsible backdrop where one side is blue & the other side is gray. Again, you can search “blue/gray collapsible backdrop on Amazon” & find it there. I use my iPhone to record my auditions & have it in a “Ulanzi U Rig Pro Smartphone Video Rig,” which is secured onto my tripod. For Audio, I use a directional Rode mic that plugs into my iPhone & is secured onto the rig. I believe the one I specifically use is the “Rode VideoMic Camera-Mount shotgun Microphone with Rycote Lyre Shock Mounting, Black.” It’s a bit pricey, but worth it I think. I’ve had mine for like 3 years now. However, you will have to get one of those little adapter things for the Rode mic if you want to have the ability to plug the mic into your iPhone. Something like the “Movo IMA-1 Female 3.5mm TRRS Microphone Adapter Cable” would probably work. You can find all of this stuff on Amazon! I don’t know if I have the greatest advice for how to reduce noise, but from my experience, using a directional mic really helps & I do use iMovie as well to reduce background noise during the editing process, if necessary. However, I’m sure there is better editing software out there for reducing background noise. I’ve also found that filming in a room that has carpet helps with absorbing sound. There are acoustic/sound absorbing panels you could buy, but I’ve never personally used them & it’s not necessary (at least in my case). They can also be pretty expensive I think depending on how much you need. I hope this helps! ❤️

My coach says it is selection not rejection.
I learned so much from this video-- thank you!
I’m so happy to hear that! Thanks for watching! 😊
Awesome ! I would like to become an actor but don’t know where to begin
That’s amazing that you want to be an actor! When I decided that I wanted to pursue an acting career, the first thing I did (after saving some money) was enroll in an acting class in my local area. That’s definitely something that I recommend ☺️ If there are no in-person acting classes close enough to you, you can always take online acting classes. I’ve found that not only is class great because you learn a lot, but you also make incredible connections that will help you both now & in the future!
Your husband is actually a good reader. Natural with a good voice over voice. Lol
Haha I’ll let him know 😜
So accurate!! Book the room, not the role. Half the roles my brother booked, he auditioned for a different role, and they found something else for him.
Yes, definitely!! All you can do (and control) is to keep putting your best foot forward for every audition. Even if you don’t book the role you auditioned for, it’s a win if the same casting office keeps calling you back in or if they want you to audition for a different role. You’re on the right path 😉
Great job!
Thank you! 😊
"The Actor's Life" is sooooo good! So many important points. Thanks for sharing all these books!
Yes!!!! It’s such a great book 🥰 I’m happy to hear you enjoyed my recommendations ❤️
Scary frrr Fr 😭
Am so confused. What are you talking about? I saw the details and it says the deadline is on September 30 and it is for minors (10-17)??
On May 25th of this year (prior to the actors strike), ABC held an open call for their yearly showcase called “2023 Disney Television Discovers: Talent Showcase.” They do this open call every year to find new talent who are 18 years & older. This year, the deadline to submit was June 30th, 2023. At 3:50 mins into the video, I share a screen recording of the breakdown they released on Actors Access. It sounds like you might be referring to a different opportunity that’s currently happening, although I’m not sure which one you are talking about since the actors strike is still ongoing…I hope I was able to clear up any confusion!
I searched for the same on Google and it says that the deadline is on 30th September and it is for minors 10-17. Maybe you're right I made a mistake but I am sure I searched the same.
They booked a different gender! Definitely not on you, your tape was good!
Thank you so much 🥰 There are definitely many things out of your control during the casting process & all you can do is put your best foot forward!
I love this. My brother always pulls up jobs he didn't book to see who got it
Tnx ❤️
I'm kinda crazy. The reason I wanted to act is so I can act like I'm not crazy.
Haha love it 😂
@@celinacgoetti did I make mention of the thing with the stars?
I don’t think so…
@@celinacgoetti okay so you know how they call people who are on television and in movies "stars". Well if you go and look at the night sky the perceivable light you see here on earth is from hundreds or thousands of years ago. I often wonder why they started saying it like that. I don't want to be the one to make a metaphor but those stars that we see might not exist anymore.
Bro my first self tape was all f'ed up. Wrong format, didn't slate. But the thing I did right was at the end of it I told people to live their dreams. Believe it or not, a guy like me just really likes to entertain people. 👍
My first self-tape was terrible 😂 I think the only I did right was show up in front of the camera haha 🙈 Entertaining people is definitely a lot of fun 😊
Great video! I'm curious to see how you would do it differently today!
Thank you! ❤️ 🥰 I guess I’ll have to redo this scene at some point to see how differently I would do it today 😉 We’ll see if it’s any better 😂 Thank you so much for watching!
you did so well in the commercial!!!!
Aw thank you 🥰
Congrats Celena!!! You deserve it!
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
That's exciting, making quick work out there 💪 Good thoughts on prepping for meetings too!
Thank you!! 😊
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!!!!!! I love that we can follow along with u on ur acting journey. I am just beginning mine so it’s nice to see someone a little ahead of me and what the process actually looks like :)
Awwwww thank you so much!! 🥰 I really appreciate your support ❤️
Very helpful clip you shared! We forget sometimes that it may not be the performance at all that casting/production can go a whole different way. I like that you showed a visual example. Especially when receiving several audition invites and not booking them, it can be very self doubting, craft & look wise. Thank you
Oh yay! I’m so glad you found this video helpful ❤️ It’s hard going through rejection even if it’s because of things that are completely out of your control, but you just have to keep going & keep the faith ☺️ Thank you for watching!
The feedback on the first take was on point. But kudos for making a brave choice. And you really nailed the 2nd take. The inner emotions were right on display. 👏👏👏
Thank you so much for your kind words🥰
Nice job!! Good luck to you :) thanks for making such a helpful video!
Thank you so much ❤️ I’m really happy to hear you found it helpful ☺️
Congrats!
Thank you ☺️
Is it Girl On The Train? This was a helpful video. Thank you for sharing!
Yes, it is!! 😁 Thank you for watching ❤️
Such a great/funny audition - you crushed it! Would you mind doing a walk through of your makeup routine/what products you use to get ready for an audition?
Awww thank you so much! 🥰 And sure! ❤️ I can take a shot at making a video about my make-up routine/products I use the next time I have an audition😝 However, just a disclaimer that I am no make-up guru by any means (as in I don’t really know what I’m doing) & I’m a pretty basic biatch with make-up lol 😂 Thank you so much for the suggestion & for supporting my channel ❤️
whos your latino male co star
The male co-star who plays my husband in the commercial is Will Akana. I believe he’s Asian 😊
As long as you're doing stuff that's not really a drought.
Yeah & I’ve learned that there are plenty of proactive things to do in-between auditions; go to classes/workshops, work on a new skill, network, read plays or scripts, create your own stuff etc…😃
@@celinacgoetti I put up another self tape today. It's the monologue from Leaving Las Vegas. I wasn't exactly comfy partly because of the things I had to say and partly because even though I booked a quiet room, I could totally still hear people. Regardless it came off pretty clean.
@@myfirstcrappyvideobilly That’s awesome that you were able to work through being uncomfortable & the noise distraction to get the self-tape done. Bravo! 👏
@@celinacgoetti thanks
Texas does have a lower cost of living certainly. I was hoping you would say Arlen Texas.
Oh and great Mexican food. I mean California too but you're not missing out. Really New Mexico is the state for good Mexican food.
I believe Texas and California have lower and higher costs of living respectfully because of policy. I get really annoyed when Californians complain about the high cost of living when they contributed to it 🤦♂️.
Okay so that's why we used to get the dog stoned. It's funnier that way. 😂
😂 It definitely added some entertainment value to the long road-trip haha
Stay out of your head it's a bad neighborhood.
Eh, I've seen lots of rejection. That's just life. If that gets you down you're living wrong. And when you actually get booked I don't think you should feel like you're overtop of things. That's when the hard part starts.
Thank you for sharing this perspective! You’re right that letting rejection constantly rule your life (and mood) is no way to live. And the “hard part” does start after you book since that is the time you have to deliver a full performance. Thank you for watching & supporting this channel 😃
Happy for you! Excited to hear the updates roll in with acting in Dallas!!
Thank you 🤗 I'm hoping to have acting updates to share as well!!
