    looks like it might have been just as easy to split it, I don't have an SDS, I have similarly aged taps but even worse access, was thinking of drilling lots small holes down one face and the jam a screwdriver in like opening an olive.

    Bath leaks are always fun to look for. Found one by spraying the shower head onto the tiles and there was a small break in the grout and a channel formed in the tile adhesive so water ran through there affecting 2 flats below. Multiple plumbers sent, each saying it was something else.

    interesting ..back in the day nobody used jet blue on compression fittings...yes threaded joints ok but nowadays we all use jet on compression

    • @truthseeker7794
      @truthseeker7794 17 дней назад

      Yes I don't think it does much. If the joint is dry and you can load up the nut evenly on the joint then it might work but otherwise it's just a money making gimmick. I remember the first plumbing I ever did on my mothers 40year old house in the 80's. None of the compression joints had any type of sealant on them and none of them had ever leaked. If your pipes fit into the joint squarely then they shouldn't leak. They are plumbing fittings and are designed for that job. I sometimes used to use PTFE or a compound when joining awkward to get to pipes soI didn't have to do them again. Fernox was good, nice and sticky.

      when learning the term "if it squeaks it leaks..." and paste prevents that and also helps metal on metal contact.

    Those viva valves aren't suitable for low pressure and you left in the flow restrictor. The only side inlet fill valve that will give a decent flow rate on tank fed is the the dudley hydroflo variant side entry, remove the green flow restrictor and you're in business. With viva or even fluidmaster they're not suitable for tank fed systems even though they say on their info it does . What will happen now is someone uses the loo flushes and leaves someone else comes straight in to use the loo will end in embarrassment as when they go to flush there is not enough water in the cistern. I get called in liads of times by clients who've had a new bathroom installed which is all tank fed and complain tbat the toilet takes forever to fill !! On balance I use VIvA pretty much all the time but not on tank fed systems . I'm basing tbat as you mentioned in the clip it was tank fed !

      @@wallaceplumbing I've been doing plumbing & heating coming up close to 50years ! Yeah I know 50yrs. Most of my work now is reactive jobs. So when I say that the dudley hydroflo is b3st for low pressure tank fed systems you'll see the difference for yourself. Fluidmaster Torbeck Siamp Viva and the cheap flomasta from screwfix give really poor flow rate embarrassingly slow. I'm not promoting dudley products just that in this issue it's the solution. On hp I mostly use Viva 4 in 1 or failing that Siamp adjustable brass tail . Easy tk service & change the seals especially if the toilet is a back to wall variant where you k ow you have to remove it from the wall & then you've opened up a can of worms , so it can really save you alot of aggro. Also remove the standard iso valves and fit fullbore ones. Makes a huge difference 👍

  • @josephfelts6560
    @josephfelts6560 24 дня назад

    I liked it, job done. CANNOT believe whoever installed that profile, and whoever sealed the tray. No plumber could really step away from that as a job done, so yeah, was a pretender. 10mm all around looks the business, had to be done, and also that finish around the waste into the floor should have been done before for the very reason you did it. Always got to think of 'in case of' when you're doing these jobs, don't take it for granted they're straightforward installations.

    • @wallaceplumbing
      @wallaceplumbing 19 дней назад

      Thanks appreciate the reply always got to think of the just in case

  • @actorlyric
    @actorlyric 25 дней назад

    Those plastic bits you pulled off is actually something that sits under the tiles on installation, it's a seal or should I say was a seal ! Over time with possible tray movement the seal has been compromised and with shower products etc the plastic becomes brittle hence the issue you had with it all coming away. It's not a great way but it does work albeit it's more of a DIY install when the shower was tiled I'm guessing. The problem I come across on situations like these is the water trapped behind the tiles or under the edges. So what I do using a scraper is get some blue roll & force in the gaps I leave it for about 10mins and normally you can see the water appear on yhe blue roll .pull that out and do it a couple of times . Once that's done I get a hairdryer and use that to make sure it's as dry as possible. If it's really wet then you have to really leave it for a about a week to dry back otherwise the silicone won't fully adhere . So I've assumed you've let it dry otherwise she will be back to you again. Possibly yhe biggest culprit is the shower profile swinging in the wind !! So what you did there was the right thing to do , you were lucky the screen came out OK as I've see them pull the tiles off with them! Take a look at Mapei silicone I think it's better than Dow corning & it's my go to as ive had great results . But they're isn't much in it. BT1 isn't bad but it doesn't tool up as good and snags a bit. Have you had any comments back from the client yet ? I tend to use the Stanley yellow scrapers cost about 2 quid and last ages and use normal Stanley blades and are great for getting the silicone off on the inside inside of cisterns when changing siphons etc . Decent finished job though 👏
