Its like building a Tamiya 1:1 kit
Flash Gordon. Great to meet you!
Something I’ve wanted to know for a while now. Tires don’t last. So how do you go about replacing or maintaining the tires for aircraft when the supply and manufacturing of originals is gone?
There are new manufactured tires for most planes. You can have old tires recapped also. With enough money, you can make anything…
@@gpagecolorado I remember the navy recapped theirs. Does any company do it or is there that guy everyone goes to?
Your background music is just fine. The video is well-composed. Don’t listen to the haters on your video process. I hope to own either a P-61 Black Widow or a F7F Tigercat someday.
Thanks for your support!
I hope I get to see her first start up.
Stay tuned to this channel!
Great plane that had tenacious pilots
As a student pilot I flew my long cross country to New Tamiami Airport where Betty had a flight school. She signed my Log Book proving that I was there then took me to lunch, Glad to have met her.
That is incredible! Thanks for sharing!!!
I’m so glad these aircraft will be completed! So sorry Tim won’t be here to see his dream come true. All the best to you Gayla ❤
Thanks for your comment and support!
@@gpagecolorado Of course. I’m going to Planes of Fame the weekend of March 2nd to watch Peashooter 33-123 take to the sky. I’ll be thinking of the two of you during the demonstration.
Hi Gayla. I did in fact make it to Planes of Fame. 33-123 did fly but the weather came very close to canceling the demo. I was thinking of you and Tim as it flew overhead. I hope when your Peashooters are completed there will be a public demonstration. If so, I’ll be there!
That's the EGC-7 that Eddie Ruckstell owned! He was well known for the Ford Model T axel that allowed one to change the rear axel gear for climbing hills. There is, or was, another EGC-7 being restored in Missouri.
Cool comment! Thanks for sharing!!!
I was interested in that EGC-7 when it was owned by a fellow in Montana. I ended up buying an AQC-6 project. Please keep us posted on the restoration.@@gpagecolorado
We will be doing some Chasing Planes RUclips episodes on the restoration. Make sure to subscribe to get in on our giveaways!@@billkahl1147
We think so too!
These are going to be real beauties once restored.
Stay tuned for restoration updates.
As a kid I use to crawl all over inside of this plane when it was Aero Union's air tanker number 17 at the Chico Airport. Wish I could afford it, I'd go take a flight in it. Great video. I'm glad I found your channel through Google.
Great memory!!! Thanks for following us and stay tuned!
Scotty
I work in Everett, WA. If they need any help working on it or if I could just get a tour, let me know. Navy vet here.
Please send a PM to us through our website. wwwchasingplanestv.com Thanks!
I was fortunate to visit Tim twice while he was working on the Peashooter. His craftsmanship was impeccable! Glad to see that it will be completed!
Stay tuned for restoration updates!
It is great to see someone finish these. I saw it years ago. Tim gave me a tour. The work was top notch. I hated to hear of his passing. Would love to see them fly.
Stay tuned for updates. We can’t wait to see them fly too!
Are these rebuilds from wrecks or replica/reproductions? Thanks
These are reproductions from original Boeing plans.
@gpagecolorado Thanks. Will the 2nd project continue work in Indiana?
They will both be completed in Everett, WA. Stay tuned for updates!
Wow those RC birds are all beautiful. I would love to get behind the sticks of that Phantom, Corsair and definitely the Mustang. My apartment ceiling is filing up with RC and plastic model planes. I have a 6 foot B-17 painted as my Dad's hanging in my living room. It's a good thing I'm single 🤣
Stay tuned for another Chasing Planes video on the next group of Giant Scale R/C at the Spirit of Flight. They are unbelievable!
Very nice. It's always nice to have a permanent place.
Great video Gordon. It's definitely not like rebuilding a 2 or 4 barrel Holley carburetor. Lol
Nice enemy planes! 😎👍🐺
I visited Mid-Atlantic from Toronto 5 or 6 years ago and asked the usual question. When will it be done? The answer was prompt and simple. "about a million dollars from now" . As always these projects are driven by the availability of funding. The P-61 is looking great and I hope to visit again soon.
I have just finished reading Betty’s original 1977 “Little Stinker” signed “Happy Landings.” It was written from N22e’s point of view.
Have they figured out the low-octane fuel problem yet? The P-61's engines were designed to run on higher octane fuel than what is available today.
Not sure. Hopefully it won’t be an issue.
I got to fly in her a few years back when she visited my hometown. It was a short flight but it was amazing... another check on the bucket list.
I am curious. What is the troubleshooting sequence that leads to the phone call, "Hey, we need a new carburetor." ?? I presume the engine wasn't running to spec, but then what ? Beautiful plane, and I would guess a few more checks are in place after that loss last year. So about this video, you didn't show any wrenching - and no before/after lessens the impact. Still, beautiful plane, beautiful weather, good photography and sound that is the real deal.
We got there after they had put the new carb on and they didn't really want us in the way or to be interviewed. They just wanted to focus and get the job done. Thanks for your comment.
@@gpagecolorado Keep up the good work ! thank you
👍👍👍
Thanks for your feedback!
They actually made keychains out of some of the unusable, original aircraft skin from this exact plane!
Beautiful video 👍👍🔔🔔
I was out on the course last year, and this Yak sounded NASTY! Go get'em Scotty.
The aircraft is so beautiful, I hope once she's in flying condition, I'll get to see her
ÓTIMA RESTAURAÇÃO PERFEITO 👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 🇧🇷
Absolutely love the Hellcats!!!! What a beautiful job restoring it to its glory days!!!
👍
Fantastic project, congratulations!
Thank you for the update. Awesome work by all involved.
Amazing work on an amazing plane, it's great that this plane is restored so future generations can see it
Looks & sounds great.
👍
That's a real achievement guys!
The year was 1968. I was on the beach near Corpus Christi, TX with my family in a post prandial daze after BBQ chicken cooked on the beach. I lay down on a beach towel to take a nap. Just as I was almost asleep I hear the unmistakable sound of a Jap Zero. All of a sudden I am in WW II being straffed on a beach in the S Pacific, at least in my mind. I wake in a panic to see a Zero from the Confederate Air Force flying low level out of Brownsville, TX. towards CC... I guess I had seen enough WWII movies to recognize the unique sound of the Zero engine, even in my sleep.
Another airworthy A6M getting close to reality.
That's great!! Another Zero gets to fly! I have flown many models of the Zero and it's a great flying airplane!!
Original engine?
This one uses a P&W R-1830. It’s safe and reliable and parts are available unlike the Sakae.
Very exciting! What an amazing piece of history.
Don't like that it's not japan engine..
Where are you going to get one???
Amazing accomplishment. Is it the original engine?
It’s a P&W R-1830, used for safety and reliability…
👍👍👍!!!
