Taiwan 2024 – Episode 8
Over a series of 8 videos, released at regular intervals, I document a 10-day holiday to Taiwan. This is another trip delayed by the COVID pandemic, but subsequently used as an excuse to celebrate the birthdays of the two travellers who undertook the journey. And one of those birthdays a significant one too.
This Episode 8 is the Grand Finale! And the best is definitely left to last! Please enjoy - with us - the wonderful Taroko National Park in all its glory!

Serbian monasteries are from 11,12,13,14th century built by the serbian Nemanjić dynasty. The centre of serbian patriarchy was in Peć, Kosovo and Metohia till 18 th century , when the great migration of Serbs started , and it was later centered in Sremski Karlovci. Turks started building mosques from 15th century. Most of Albanians took islam (50%), those 25% orthodox are actually Serbs and Greeks and catholicism came with Venetians who held the coastal parts of Albania and later occupied it. There are still some atheists left from the time of Enver Hodza.

The churches were built in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian as a gift to his home region Dardania(Kosovo). After Emperor Basil ll retook the region, the byzantines noticed that the churches were in bad condition & restored them in the 11th & 12th century. None of them were built by serbian rulers from the 13th & 14th century. They didn't have any knowledge of churchbuilding how would they be able. Even serbian priests like Sava Janjic slowly acknowledge that fact although it is still a topic that is not much discussed in Serbia bc it would threaten their historical claim to them

Sad means a garden, but deeper root of word is to put something, for example to seed a plant you say po-saditi. A crew of something (ship, airplane) is posada. To sitting is sedeti. Analogy with sitting/seeding in Indo-European languages. It is funny how people think that languages are different but they are not if they belong to the same Language group

Btw the city had/has name Neoplanta in Latin, Neustadt in German, Ujvidek in Hungarian. It has been developed as a new city across of fortress Petrovaradin (one of the biggest in Europe and witness of many huge battles with Ottoman Turks) later becoming free city (autonomous from Vienna) and overtaking Petrovaradin

@@jeffwarner8361 I hope you had a great time in Serbia and come again. Just one small digression, if you are coming as a foreigner to a country. In this case Serbia, you should still respect that country's borders. As you know, your country is one of the most ardent and active participants in the illegal aggression against Serbia in 1999. Both active and non-supporters of Albanian terrorists in Kosovo. And Kosovo and Metohija are part of Serbia, and according to more than 60% of the UN members. If you don't think so, but you think that the so-called "independent Kosovo" where the US and NATO installed the KLA terrorist pest, the drug cartel is today in the illegally occupied part of the territory of Serbia, where today's Serbs live in ghettos, occupied and surrounded by barbed wire, where he has Albanian terrorist scum, with the support of NATO, primarily the UK and the US, he raids houses, tortures them, arrests Serbs and kills their children.... If you think that's okay, then, for the sake of history, such cards from the beginning of the video clip for you they are not needed, better without them, to insult us if you don't know how to order! In the text that you are reading at 13:41, the part that is missing says in its entirety SERBIA WITHOUT KOSOVO IS LIKE A MAN WITHOUT A HEART! I hope that you will either show Serbia with its true borders or remove the map, thank you in advance!

3:05 hypothesis - because the exit off the near side of the brudge (left that in for a Kiwi - ordinally a spelling mistake) is at an angle? 3:35 - thought you were about to dive in Jeff 3:51 Jeff had to be Jeff 6:22 that coffee needs to be sugared (if its anything like Turkish coffee) 11:24 it's a bit like Berlin - the history is remembered (go for a tour in the parliament building in Berlin) 8:46 It's probably not meant to be, but the bombed out building is a stark reminder of the time when we were all safe at home and others were clearly not. Thought about this for while, but we need to support the Ukrainians against the Russian C*nts 9:53 - come on Jeff - you need to pronounce the name of the Market 🙂 10:15 how was he 2 euro beer? Craft worthy? 🙂

I think if I’d had a few more of those craft beers I would’ve jumped! The ones advertised for 2 Euro though were NOT craftworthy!!

Everything you see in Berat and Gjirokaster has nothing to do with Ottomans. These cities predate Ottomans by millennia and go back since Illyrian times. Ottomans did not build anything with the exception of destroying churches and building mosques. Ottomans destroyed everything they could in Albanian lands, they looted everything they could. Ottomans did not bring culture to Europe or architecture. There is no historical record of ottomans building not even a village in Albania let alone a city.

0:51 - more works to spoil the view 😲 1:48 - pronounce uscita 🙂3:24 more scaffolding! 10:15 more scaffolding!! 7:04 I was hoping you'd eventually get to my favourite building in Rome - the Pantheon, with amazing concrete in the roof (way back then) 9:25 - I think the only time I got conned to give my email address away was on that bridge by some w*nker saying they needed it for a petition. Don't believe it kids... 10:19 TMI Jeff!!!
