How to install Jointer Knives WITHOUT any special tools
I've recently restored this small 6" Jointer and the only thing that was left to do was to install knives into it.
The only problem was that it didn't come with any knives installed or a manual to work from.
So I had to figure out what size knives I need and how to install them correctly.
In this video ill show you how I did it!

How to Build a Modern Dresser from a Potato Chip

In this video I’ll show you how to build a modern dresser out of old warped Oak boards. The majority of the dresser will be made out of white Oak, accompanied by off-cut plywood, melamine and MDF boards that I had lying around in my shop. I have 2 tiny springs under each knife that push it up so you don't need a pick. It's a General International 6" from the early 2000s.
Yes this cutter head also came with those little springs. But like I mentioned in the video I intentionally didn't use them. I don't know about you but those springs in my case, not only press against the knife but against the gib as well, making it sometimes more difficult to fine tune the knife. So I always just leave them out. Now on the other hand the cutter heads that come with adjustments screws, those are a breeze to work with!
It's better if you make your own wood ruler. Scrap piece of 3/4" x 1 1/4"" x 10". Draw a few 1/8" lines on it. Do not use your steel ruler on the knives. You are dulling the edge. 1/8" of drag works on every jointer I've ever tried. The ruler method is faster and less frustrating than using a dial indicator.
You are absolutely correct, thanks for mentioning it, I should have added it in the video! I always used my little ruler, haven't noticed any dulling of the blade before, but still I do agree it can dull it
