Control line tragedy
Просмотров 1,3 млн7 лет назад
First competitor flying at the scale and semi scale control line event at Hard2000, Siggenthal, Switzerland. He came all the way from England, the flight started off pretty well but ended in tragedy. Possible causes for the lack of engine power were the combination of higher altitude and temperature vs the UK where the model was set up and tuned.

    Hi, Great flight. How did you set it up power wise? Thank you

      Hi, it is a Roxxy 28-34-08 1120KV, 3S 1300mAh battery , 30A ESC, electronic timer, now with a 8x6 pusher prop (so running clockwise seen from in front, which is different than the setup in the video). Quite happy with it as such, however the run time is only about 4 minutes. Would need a bigger battery for longer flights but the one on it now is the largest that fits between the motor and the wing leading edge. Was considering bulding a similar plane some day w space for the battery in the wing or partly inside the wing, but that will happen when I have time again.

      Hi, it was my first electric (also first control liner) build. I used www.ecalc.ch to find a setup more or less equivalent to a .15 engine, by looking at what would be not too heavy, yet turn a 8x4-8x6 prop at similar speeds as the IC engine would. Came up with the following: Roxxy 28-34-08/1120KV motor, 8x6 prop, 1300mAh/3S Lipo battery, 30A ESC (had one laying around, max pull is around 20A), and it has an adjustable CL electronic timer. At first I used a RC receiver and a transmitter I hooked to my belt. Or one can make ones own Arduino-timer. It could also run on 1000mAh/4S with a smaller prop but then it flies way too fast. In any case, the batteries last only 4 minutes, as they are small, due to the weight (CG)and limited space where the original tank would have been - I attach them there on a mini-tray with velcro and secure them from ever falling off with a rubber band or with tape. I would make the next one with a battery tray embedded into the wing in order to get a larger battery in while keeping the CG at the more or less ok position. What I haven't yet done is use a pusher prop and have it turn clockwise, but will give it a try one day to see if the plane behaves differently. Just for reference/info: Motor: www.multiplex-rc.de/produkte/314958-roxxy-bl-outrunner-c28-34-1120kv Timer: www.densmodelsupplies.co.uk/index.php?b=&t=&c=e-zee_timers&s=&p=e_-_zee_control_line_timer&pid=363 ESC: some cheap one from China (HobbyKing "plush 30" Alas I don't see how I can post pictures to the comments thread but I managed an overall very neat construction without too many wires hanging around. Built a Baby Clown electric later with completely cowled motor, battery inside the wing, no wires visible anywhere ... and it flies super duper fast and nice.

      @pompeltube 5 лет назад

      Hi, habe selber einen Me109 der Guillows-reihe, aber mit Gummimotor. Spannlack, Verdünnung und Papier kann man von Aeronaut beziehen. Nennt sich Japico/Modelspan oder besser Plyspan. Plyspan ist ein Papier das eine etwas feinere oberfläche hat. Bestellen kann man sowas bei u.a. www.faber-modellbau.de oder www.hoelleinshop.com . Spannlack (aber kein Papier) bekommt man auch von lindinger.at. Nicht vergessen zuerst alle holzteile die mit dem Papier in kontakt kommen mit spannlack oder porenfüller zu bepinseln und danach leicht anschleifen,.

    So cute but sad because we know that sloths usually only come to the ground to poop every 5-7 days and its very dangerous on the ground for them, but this little -guy- girl is switching trees because the juvenile sloths are to small to navigate the canopy tree tops that's why the mortality rate for juvenile sloths is so high. Hope she got to a tree.

    With the desire to run the engine at that rich or low throttle setting in order to achieve more realism, the loop should have been started after a dive in order to gain more speed.

    Hard crash.. I'm surprised they did not try to lean out the engine a few clicks before takeoff.. The plane was flying "heavy" too or just under-powered from the overly rich engine. Sometimes the engine leans out in flight.. I guess it didn't that time. Any attempt at a loop was ill advised. I'm surprised he did not do a "test and tune" flight on site that day before competing.

  • @TheHereford21
    @TheHereford21 7 лет назад

    It's his own fault, obviously was too rich, they are easy to tune and it should be done at every flight anyway.
