Getting rid of the noise on my DIY 2DOF motion sim
Hey all! Long time no see.
I finally had some time to get cracking on the simrig again, this time I wanted to fix the annoying beep that it produced, which meant some more work that I thought initially. I hope the video is informative and not boring, I tried to keep it on the light side.
Recap of what I did to solve the issue that I was facing:
- Moved to an STM32 F4 instead of the Arduino Uno
- Instead of using potentiometers, Now I'm using a sensor that can measure a magnetic field directly on the output shafts of the servo motors.
- I rewrote the entire software for the STM to make it more reliable and also be ready for some cool upgrades that I have planned.
All in all this work took a lon...

My DIY 2 DOF motion simulator
This is my all DIY 2 degrees of freedom motion simulator. I built: - Custom frame built to support motion in 2 degrees of freedom - Wiring and electric system - Embedded software to power the chair - Control software to extract data from simulator games - A pedal set based on Heusinkveld Ultimate pedals

DIY Motion platform demo made from some lego and an Arduino uno. Playing DiRT Rally.
Motion platform 2DOF Arduino controlled

First test of my POC 2DOF motion platform controlled by an Arduino Uno. The motors are Lego Mindstroms NXT 1.0 engines controlled by a PD controller.
Remote control mobility scooter

This mobility scooter will be used as a scale model of a truck which eventually will be used to drive backwards autonomously with a trailer connected to it. A drone will be used in combination with a camera to see where the truck needs to go and how it should go there (Pathinding). Currently the scooter is controlled by a logitech G27 steering wheel.
where do i get the information to do this and software
Can you teach me how to buy and install the program on the arduino board?
How is no one talking about the fact there's no room at all for legs ? That looks incredibly uncomfortable, having to have your knees squashed in like that
Its not bad at all. Way more space than in an F1 car :)
F1 drivers are very low, with legs raised to just below head height. Seems like the seat is too high and doesn't match the rig
The fact that you did all this and you still use a g920 amazes me no hate but may ned to upgrade that sson😂
this is amazing! id love to built a sim pretty similar and i plan on using it mostly with assetto corsa. would it be possible to get all the same components and "some what" plug in play with your software/ code? regardless this is such a cool project thanks for uploading it!
Awesome. I hope after two years you still plan on showing those details. I like the simple design.
9:18 hopefully soon
Make it on all 4 sides like the real motion sims. That would be sick to see. You're on the way to make something super expensive into something super affordable! Thank you!
kun je de code open corce maken
Great work. Love the track Music.
Came back from the original video, it’s been a while! Wonder if you’ll have more videos on this
Great!
Hello. What software do you use ?
I make my own.
@LogLeg i have a 2dof platform but i am not happy with the software and so i was trying to understand if i can use another one
LOL. Zier er top uit.
Hello, they are windshield wiper motors, right? And did you disassemble them to modify something so that they work with sim tools? I would appreciate it if you leave me a link to purchase the engines. Thanks very much buddy
Hey! Yes, they are from the scrapyard, they are intended for VW transporters (Valeo 404.780) I added the magnet in the back to measure the rotation of the axle and isolated the chassis. That's why you can see a red wire coming out of the shell. Normally the housing of the motor is connected to the - of the car battery, but in my rig both motors are connected to the metal frame and when they need to turn in opposite directions they would short out.
my problem is the motor does not move when it comes to Live for speed.. Simtools engine and Manager is Game running,, not moving motor 9:26 9:26
Hello and great job friend. Can you give me a purchase link for the same motors you used? Thank you so much
i discovered the AS5600 sensor too last year. i ordered a dozen since theyre so cheap. i experimented with manual programing mode. didnt end up installing them though. awesome tech and so cheap!
I just bought some for my next project. They seem more useful then the ones I've been using so far!
@@LogLeg that’s awesome!!
Recently I made a new video about this simrig, explaining the noise issue it had and how I solved it. You can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/cOzFBA4LK_w/видео.html
Awesome! It's way better without the noise. Keep up the good work.
Hey, I just noticed the Pedals look like they also have some active feedback? If that's the case, I'd love to see a video on how that was done!
Letsgooo
Nice work. I wonder if TL Smoothers would help noise reduction without having to rewrite code for a different board.
It's not just the noise I'm solving with this. I'm now also able to debug my code and I'm thinking of adding a small display for some configuration menu's. It's nice to have a platform that's a little bit overpowered so that I can add anything I want.
Great job!
This video is awesome and you have to come out with followings
Can you have that design? I really into your rig and I wanted to build it
Hey! Thank you, I don't have any designs for my rig. I just put it together from old stuff that I had. If you really want to build something for yourself I advise you to use something like SimHub which has everything made to be DIY'd or something like an SFX100 kit.
@LogLeg cool , thanks I already tested it before but for the motion I started asking you as an expert first
lol all this for a cheap Logitech wheelbase 😂😂😂😂😂
This is really awesome, bring be back the the FLL days😂😂, nice work👏👏
FLL as in first lego league?
What value is this blue capacitor ?
10.000 uF. But it's not enough :(
Not sufficient ? in what sense ? what exactly is its function ? @@LogLeg
@@TheAttylapl It's to help with the peak power draws from the motor. The powersupply is 450 watt but it still struggles when the motors are moving fast
Thats really cool brother. Add a VR and it will be a next level immersion
I hope you include parts list and maybe your program aswell, would love to build this too
that welds...
hi! What u joint?😊
Some BMW
Superb
Leip
1:44 Still waiting for the videos
:( Yeah me too. I have been working on it but I have so little time.
@@LogLeg oh it’s good to hear you’re still here at least, haven’t seen you in the comments on this video and it’s been a while so thought you either gave up or finished and moved on, it’s a really well made video and motion rig too so hopefully you get some time to finish
What software do you use
The most SAFEst DRIVING NO INJURY OR ACCIDENT OCCUR TO BODY 💪🏻
Looking for instructions..
Why did you not use SimHub to get the telemetry? Edit: BTW Awesome Work!
I wanted to try it myself.
@@LogLeg excellent! I like it!
Fantastic work! Can I ask approximately what you weigh and upper platform with seat?
no clue, guessing about 100 kilos combined?
@@LogLeg Thanks.
What software you use for the motor?
I wrote my own
if u need software for more things gram simhub.. then grab some tactile transducers add those and it will be pretty solid.. how much does something like this cost to build.
Can you give me the design
Hello, what motors wipers models you use?
