The MIAMI project (Metrology and Artificial Intelligence for the development and quality control
of micro-machining processes with femtosecond lasers) realized advanced methodologies for setting up laser micro-machining processes. Moreover MIAMI developed AI-based solutions to help
the operator in finding the best operational parameters for executing femtosecond laser processes (LIPSS and micro-channels). The project was led by KIRANA (www.kirana-laser.it/) and executed in collaboration with the 3DOM unit of FBK (3dom.fbk.eu/).

I’m here from Andrew Mayne’s book The Final Equinox.
This globe was created in 1492 for the Holy Roman Emperor’s court at Nuremberg, the capitol and an imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire (precursor of modern Germany). The globe reflects the best available information in Europe at that time of the known world. It accurately locates Japan, China, India, and most of Africa in relation to Europe. Europeans knew the world was not flat and this globe serves as evidence dispelling that myth. In the same year of this globes creation, Christopher Columbus would set sail seeking a westward sea route to Asia backed by Genoa and Spain in an effort to break the Venetian trade monopoly between Europe and the far east.

During this time the earth’s circumference was underestimated being out by 28% since Ptolemy, otherwise while not knowing the America’s they would made the ocean between Europe, Africa, and Asia much wider if it was closer to the Earth’s actual circumference.
They also believed Asia being much wider that it actually is, and Japan more distant from China.

They didn't. Notice the Americas are completely missing. Columbus had not returned from his first voyage so there was no way they knew the Americas existed.
@NebTheWeb But they got Africa somewhat right, how did they figure that out? And a little accuracy when it comes to Europe too.
@@josh021588 because that is the oldest surviving globe, NOT the first globe. They already knew the earth was spherical before the above globe was made. They knew about Africa, the West Indies, and the Orient. They had maps of those places, but NOT the Americas which is why it is not on the globe in the video. Columbus was looking for the West Indies when he set sail, or a shortcut to them anyway, but instead landed in the Americas, and mistakenly called the natives 'indians', and the name stuck.

@@dmahar58 WRONG, They worked out. No ASSumptions were made. YOU on he other hand, assume a flat earth despite the lack of any kind of empirical evidence. Flat earth people do not hold their beliefs on the basis of fact. When they allege that they deserve equal representation in the marketplace of ideas, they’re just wrong. Real science is based on something categorically different from what flatopian folks believe.
