How do you level out holes and roots left when you dig up stumps?

I started making Haylage this past year and happy with the results so far. Cows are fat and stay full. they used to attack the hay before I could get it in the rings but now they just walk up to it once i finish feeding and they clean it all up, none wasted.

Hi mate, i am starting a buffalo farm, as they produce less milk, your video has made me think about growing sudan haylage instead of corn silage as sudan haylage is cheaper. My question is, how much milk your beef cows give at peak, and do you use concentrate during that period to provide extra energy. 100 percent haylage in feed safe for cattle? Do you need hay or straw with haaylage to make the taste less fermented

I had 3 acres cleared for a pasture. They used a big dozer to just push down the trees and keep on rolling. They took a total if 7 hours to push down the trees and push into two long piles. About 2 months later they came back with the dozer ans an excavator and burned the trees. That took about two-three weeks. Cost me $770 to push the trees down and stack em. Then $3000 to burn em. What a mess

Looks good! Next year I am planning to start wrapping bales. We bale Sorghum Sudan grass in the summer months and sometimes I just cannot get it dry before a rain comes. Also the spoilage of the outer edge because we store outside. Questions I have, how many wraps are you putting on each bale? After wrapping how long before it is ready to feed?

If you don’t mind me asking, why don’t you have a lumber company come out and clear the land for you? Just curious on your thought on this, thank you kindly!

Seems like renting a bulldozer would make more sense in this situation. Then come up and detail work with the mini Ex.

How are you planning to root rake? Or will you just plow/disc it?

I would spread those ashes as evenly as possible and then disc it into your top soil. It would help your soil pH, especially with the acidic properties of pine.

My dozer with the root rake helps keep the topsoil in place

Wow that is exciting and I would love to have a barn like that myself. Only thing I was wondering: did you set the posts in the dirt or on concrete piers? I have seen people putting them in the dirt and its just something I would try to always avoid.

Wow that turned out good! Lots of work though! We bought 25 acres about 7 years ago here in Nova Scotia. Most of it was clearcut about 15 years earlier so we basically started from 0. Build a house, shed and chicken coop. Then cleared some land for lawn and orchard. All without any machinery (other than hiring a 15 ton excavator sometimes). We then added 36x40 woodworking shop. Recently a 36x40 barn and now another 16x50 house. Recently bought our first machine which is a 6 ton excavator. Holy cow what a help that is!! I would love to have some cattle and we are hoping to buy another 35 acres within the next years. It has been clear cut about 20 years ago so the plan would be to pretty much completely turn it into pasture for cattle and hay. We do have the excavator now but I am almost thinking of just getting a huge mulcher in and just mulch the whole property and then a bulldozer and maybe even a tractor with a plough? You are losing time making a "loop" at each corner. Why don't you turn square corners? I use an older JD 530 MoCo and clean square corners are a breeze.

Feed looks good eh. When we use to put up Haylage we started chopping at 45% moisture.. Nice set up, good job everyone.

What model kubota is your baleing tractor and how do you like it? I had a 9960 gave me no problems but was the most uncomfortable tractor I ever ran I was looking to step up in size

Amazing. Amazes me how you learned all this! Passed down or self taught? I see a lot of fields with what looks like some kind of rye or maybe winter wheat. Not sure if it’s for hay or just cover crop before planting.
