    Why dont you reccomend people imagine themselves at 100%? Why 80%?

    • @Mecfsselfhelpguru1
      @Mecfsselfhelpguru1 6 лет назад

      We need to be motivated to adapt to the illness. A vision is most helpful if it encourages us to do things that not only help us move towards it, but help us make the now better too. Imagining being 100% motivates us to try not to be ill and can easily contribute to the boom bust that's so common with illness like ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia. It also highlights the dissatisfaction and pain we feel about things not being the way we want them to. When we accept the way thing are, we can adapt and make the now better. When we make the now better, we don't get so tempted to resist and push past out limits, this gives us a better chance to make improvements! I always say that once you get to the 80% then you can imaging the 100%.

      ME/CFS Self-Help Guru I like it! Do you know about NLP? When I do visualisations i think I get excited.. which stimulated my sympathetic NS.. i thought i was past the whole desperate to get better thing but i think im deeper into this than i realised. Im in such a rut right now! A vicious cycle of spending too much time learning (sometimes i feel uncomfortable and get anxiety if i try to stop learning, once i start), not enough play, then too much time on phone apps, not enough rest due to the above, brain is now fried, repeat.... Arghhhhhh. A few months ago i actually had a solid routine where i was content and happy too

      ME/CFS Self-Help Guru sometiems i get distracted->stimulated-> off the rails for a day or so... i then try and force massive structure to or prevent this from happening again, causing more tension...

    • @Mecfsselfhelpguru1
      @Mecfsselfhelpguru1 6 лет назад

      Hi Micheal, I can totally relate to putting pressure on yourself to do the things that will help, being counterproductive when that pressure just creates more tension. When that happens I try to ask myself what's the kindest thing I could do for myself right now? I aim to let go, allow imperfect action and trust that with a gentle intention I''ll do the important things when my body can deal with them.

    • @Mecfsselfhelpguru1
      @Mecfsselfhelpguru1 6 лет назад

      It's very important not to get attached to an outcome we're trying to reach, that just brings more suffering. I aim for a little forward movement letting go of a desire to reach a particular destination. But I've learned that the best forward movement is that which helps me make the now better too. If you've had a supportive routine before you'll get there again! Set an intention to do so but then give yourself permission to do any what feels easy and comfortable in any given moment. If you find your obstacles to moving forward are consistent, a coaching session might really help you move past them!

    I loved this, thank you! I had a question - most of my meditations and relaxations involve keeping my mind calm and centred e.g. On sound or the breath - how do you use meditation to start to explore who you are and your dreams?

    • @Mecfsselfhelpguru1
      @Mecfsselfhelpguru1 7 лет назад

      Hi Isabel, When you get to a calm state, you can ask your inner wisdom a question. My favourite way of doing this is first taking a little time to imagine myself being filled with light. Then imagine the question you want to ask being written on a piece of paper and being dropped into your light filled body via your crown. imagine this piece of paper being dissolved into sparkling light and then just sit and wait to see what happens. You may not get the answer in the meditation session, it could be hours or even a few days before it presents itself, but just patiently wait for it, without thinking it through and it will present itself to you. You may want to ask something like 'how can I contribute doing something I love now?' 'What is my present purpose?' 'how can I be me?' 'which of my special skills can I develop now?'. The important thing is to trust your inner wisdom to answer freely.
