A visit to the Normandy France historic sites. I visited the Overlord Museum, Omaha Museum, Omaha Beach landing sites and the American Cemetery. This was a very humbeling experiance to say the least. It is amazing what our soldiers went through on D Day . I hope you enjoy this video. The weather was not good for normal filming so i had to do a voice over to keep the cameras water tight.

While exploring the Island and City around Orbetello Italy found this cool old castle and a Spanish fort that was made in to housing. How cool would that be to live in a Spanish fort built in 500 A.D. Added some drone footage. sorry first time out with it will work on better footage with the drone in the near future. enjoy the video.

Riding my KLR650 through the Alpine Pass at Andermatt Switzerland. This is the 14th day of my around the world motorcycle adventure. The weather was nice. a little cool at the top (7000 feet). There is still a lot of snow and expecting to get another meter of snow on Sunday which will close the pass of a day or so. the other two passes are still snowed in.

How would you get the wheel in the front or rear to spin freely,so you can get the wheel on and off?
Hello sir This is the best to another 12 year old glenlivet ? Thanks 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Bike still.strong how did everthing last??
I regretted that I sold mine It's one of my best bikes , my 650 ninger Yamaha can't compare
Nice rig. How did the trip go?
trip was great. bike ran awesome, until it was stolen in England. finished the trip and rental bikes. have replaced it with a 2016 klr650 after I got back state side. currently riding it through Canada and then down the west cost and then back to wi.
Ok everything looks and sounds good & you listed everything you did the only thing you didn't give is a link where you got things. That would be very helpful. You took the time to video now how about take the time to list the websites so other people can find the things they may want too.
most came from rockymountain atv
What brand is that extended rear rack?
Well how did the trip go?
how do you get the bike there and whats the cost
air Canada runs a program called fly my bike. it runs April to September. if you book yourself on an air Canada flight then you get a reduce price for your bike. my flight was 750.00 us and my back was 700.00
Did you make it around the world and how did the bike fare?
the bike handle/ preformed perfectly. made it through 39 different countries and then while traveling through England had my bike stolen. recovered it but it was damaged beyond repair. plan on continuing/ reattempting the ride if the covid bs ever ends.
@@arideofalifetime7340 So sorry to hear your bike was stolen. Hopefully the insurance took care of that for you.
yes. insurance did cover the bike.had to purchase European motorcycle insurance for the trip. wasvery expenses but easy to work with.
Way to go Gary!
not bad for an old guy
nice ride gary, stephen what have you been up to any adventures.
been working on my new place and getting in some local rides. hope to post some new stuff soon.
Great video.. Love my KLR in Colorado. Your sentiments are mine. Owned so many bikes Harleys and every category. Really love my mountain jumper..
glad you enjoyed my video. on my second klr650 now. enjoy
yes but in the middle of nowhere it's nice to have what you may need. also no shops for miles on end and also some very bad to none existent roads.
Great looking bike. Just got an 08 and the wife likes your low front fender. Could you tell us where you got it and how you mounted it please?
I ordered it from revzilla.com and mounted in top of my eagle mikes fork stabilizer.
Hey Stephen. I noticed the WI plate. I'm in SE wisconsin. Newer KLR owner. Any suggestions on great places to ride, getting off road (nothing crazy) and camp? Great video, you've put lots of ideas into my head.
best thing is get out and ride. not into anything crazy offroad. plan on doing the trans Wisconsin American trail later this summer. I'm south of la crosse. thanks for watching glad you enjoyed
Nice bike!
Nice video and discussion! Love KLR's, you planning another big trip?
yes would like to go back and cover some areas i did not get to visit on this trip. hope to do it in a couple of years. thank you for watching and glad you enjoyed the video
Where did you get the mount bar for the lights and where did you get the dash? thanks.. good video..
I mounted the lights on the fender mount under the dash. found the plans for the mount on RUclips in a video by fellow klr650 rider and the dash mount I found at the same place but modified it to my needs. tha is for watching. hope to post more videos from my ride around the world soon
@@arideofalifetime7340 nice thanks will continue to follow and look forward to updates.
Hope the trip is going well or went well. After having so much time on a KLR650 what is your opinion of it now?
I really enjoyed riding it. it is the best all around bike I ha e owned. does not do anything overly great but it does everything I have asked of it and more. they are fool proof and solid bikes
Stephen Dickow That’s great, I purchased one at the end of last season and haven’t had a chance to ride it yet, will be some time up here in Alaska before I do. It will give me some time to go thru it. I just read your previous comment about cutting your trip short, sounds like you had a good run though. Look me up if your ever in Alaska.
Beautiful scenery.
Been wondering where you have been, 1st video in awhile, hope the trip is going well.
trip went fairly well. did get to co er 39 countries but did have a problem that ended my trip early. in England had my motorcycle stolen. will be posting g some more of my video now that I am back state side.
could do with some of that spanish sun . nice up in the woods.
well hope to make it back to your part of the world and enjoy some of the nice trails you have been posting. stay safe my friend
@@arideofalifetime7340 if you do pop over to wales again we will have to meet up this time on bike, show you some good parts of wales you missed last time. stay safe at this mad time.
Beautiful countryside!
I've owned four 650's great bikes. Are you considering the doohickey, and .22 cent, or did you mention that? L mod? Trip of a life time, are you going with anyone?
did the .22 cent trick was way worth it. did not do the doohickey was going to do it when I got back. had the bike stolen in England and was destroyed before it was recovered. will post pic in a video I am working on. have returned back to the states and have picked up an other klr650 and planing on going back to finish the trip.
@@arideofalifetime7340 Well that sux! Hope you have better luck, next time around. I'm heading down to Sierra Vista Az to pick up an 09, has had the doo done, has a bunch of stuff on it, 3000 miles, just love these bikes.
@@bingobandit had a buddy find me a 2016 with 7,000 had the doohickey do e and sent back some of the parts from destroyed one and he had it set up almost the same as what I had when I left. yes it did suck but refuse to let it stop me from my goal. this year I'm going to do the tat and then next hear head back to do the RTW trip. want to also do alaska to chili in the near future
@@arideofalifetime7340 Well I have to hand it to you for not giving up on your dreams. And good luck. Keep us posted. My nephew wants to do Mexico to Chili, but I think he's just dreaming at this stage. My brother in law did the Trans Amazon in 1988 in his Jeep. There were many classes of vehicles, one being a Harley Road King, great story. I think they went though like 6 countries, he won in his class.
You need to learn how to spell country
Best of luck on a wonderful Journey
Really enjoyed your videos! Was hoping you would be posting a summary of things that went right or wrong. Awesome trip and on my favorite bike, the KLR 650!
Seems like some people buy a KLR and put big bucks into it to try to make it do something it was Never really designed to do in the First place. Just an observation...
That is true, But there is not much the KLR can not do, and with the upgrades its still way below the cost of the other bikes. I have rode the BMW GS1200, Honda African Twin, Yamaha Super Tenera and few others. I will be posting my reviews of each this winter, but I thing it truly comes down to each riders style, budget, wants desires
When's your next update
hope to post new videos in the next couple of weeks. I just moved in to my new home and have been working on getting my equipment together.
@@arideofalifetime7340 awesome!
Which light mount is that
I copied it from a fellow youtuber. Tim2wheels. you can down load the plans from his site
Just came across your channel. I’m now following you, & looking forward to seeing what your up to.
welcome hope to get more uploaded in the near future. have a lot of editing to do
If I were you I'd put the emergency GPS texter on your person in case you get thrown off ,bad crash could through that thing or destroy it put it where you can text if badly injured what if the bike go over a cliff and your laying on the road with 2 broke leg's
i do where it on my person when i am on high risk roads Terran
Inexpensive small multi-meter for electrical diagnostics, if not, at least a continuity tester.
I modded the brakes on mine by fitting a Galfer front rotor, braided steel lines and EBC pads. Also installed Progressive Suspension front springs and rear shock. The Eagle Mike fork brace was fitted to relieve fork twisting due to the improved braking. These mods vastly improved the braking and handling compared to stock, but the dear old truck is never going to compare to a pure street machine. Bought a KTM 790 Duke for going fast and use the KLR for camping tours.
Beautiful trip, nice clear windshield !
Nice to see the Welsh countryside of today. Apparently my ancestors are from Wales. I'm looking forward to the possible release of the Tenere 700 in the States soon also.
its a great part of the country for motorcycling. had a chance to try the Tenere 700 out, its is also on my list for a replacement of the KLR
how long have you got left on your tour. you need two bikes always more fun. hope your meeting some good people.
got back state side last Thursday. will be posting videos soon. just have to get used to my new laptop. complete 39 country's, almost all of the EU. will be back next year for complete the trip and see the TT again. will let you know when i had date figured out. hate to sayI have picked up two new bikes already. have a replacement KLR650 (2015 if 10,000 miles all kitted out like my last one) and a vfr1200x (2016 with o mile on it)
@@arideofalifetime7340 mite see you next year if your up our way. hope you like your new bikes. will have a look were you have gone, good luck with your future trips.
I love the commentary! Great stories! 💕💕💕💕💕
Great to see your ok. I was worried since you haven’t done a video for a while Question, how much weight do you carry on your bike, including tools, cloths camping, everything
with the panniers and contents i have added about 80 to 90 pounds to the bike at the start cut it down to about 50 pounds
Looks like you have all the bases covered, good luck!
How much does it cost to ship your KLR to Germany?
$800 canadian
@@arideofalifetime7340 Oh, Wow. Much less than I had expected. Who did you ship through?
@@vipermanboy air canada fly my bike program
Very cool. What happened to your windshield, it looks like it’s gone ?
parked on unstedy ground and when i dismounted the bike tiped over and the windshield hit the side of a wall and broke. have a replacement being shipped over
Good to hear your ok....u can always replace a windshield,'
Nice mods, but please stop chapping your lips.. PLEASE!
WOW Stevie D. You packed a lot of gear. Do you have a cover for your KLR and does you KLR have a name?
Wait! How is 2/3 of North America and Europe "around the world"??
all of Europe, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and north america. the distance around the equator is basically 25,000 miles my trip should be about 30,000 not splitting hairs
what a great road to ride.
Beautiful drive! Love the new music!
Glad to see you and your bike seem to be holding up just fine! Looks like an awesome place to ride. I love the open space with the mountains in the distance. Thank you for sharing your trip!
Nice scenic rides! Great pics too! Glad it's going well.
