Opened this 73 year old Korean War B-2 Unit from December 1951. Three B units and three M units would be included in a soldier’s full day ration, individual, combat during the Korean War. Along with can of fruit and an accessory pack. This B-2 unit contained coffee, creamer, sugar, butterscotch cookie, four crackers and two chocolate discs. The crackers were bland with an odd aftertaste. The co...

That’s a great repro!! Kudos!
I have several MRE’s I think from late 1980’s… I save the matches, wet-nap (still moist!) and maybe give crackers to birds.. they may not eat it. They have the same spoon, some decaf coffee, and a apple strudel cake thingie
Wow! A tab, and a key... you are not messing around. Excellent work.
Big visual difference with the added key and seam. Pretty much perfect ! 🙂
Thanks, we're trying to source keys but our plan is to make the seam and soldered key standard on our WWII C Rations going forward.
It’s funny that the lemon juice was called battery acid and soldiers hated it and one guy said that 6 out of the rest of the men in his division and there are a few thousand people in a division
Definitely makes MREs look like Thanksgiving dinner
All edible I suppose, that's dedication to the craft. Nice, nice indeed.
All edible, as issued and produced. The only exception is canned cheese for the dinner K Ration unit, we supplement that entree. We can acquire canned cheese in the correct sized cans but it is costly to import from Europe.
@@Herorations Interesting, have you ever considered making reproductions of other armies rations? or from WW1? There used to be a site for edible WW1 rations but is gone.
@@christianalexismendietaest8518 We have made WW1 and German rations in the past but the demand for the level of complexity and time just wasn't there. WWII US rations are complex enough and really needed a single effort devoted to getting maximum accuracy at lowest cost and reusability for reenactors. WW1 can easily be supplemented with baking hard bread at home, stored in a reusable tin container, painted cans/repro labels applied to modern day canned goods appropriately.
Definitely a reproduction…👎
@@stillcrazyafteralltheseyea1379 well done… considering we make these reproductions like it says in the video description…
Nice repro, very accurate. I have original k's but my ww2 cans are mostly repro too
It was always better with Tabasco 😅😊
If you open the can from the bottom, you can still have a nice display piece.
You've been running through your B units here lately! Excellent stuff man. Thank you
Well done repro!
Bolton biscuits.... where is the wad of TP?
@@henrytowne7463 wasn’t included on C Ration cans during WW2 it would be in a separate asphalt paper accessory pack.
Shelby P-38 got mine!
Hey I was wondering. Rations that come with coffee, how did fighters heat the water in their mess cans up? Did they rely on field kitchens for hot water or did they heat water up in the field? I'm assuming field kitchens.
Whatever they could. Heat up water on a hot motor, over fire, heat tablet (hot box). Sometimes you just had to drink it cold.
Is there a museum or internet site where we can view large-sized pictures? Any ration books, manuals, or other information would be helpful and appreciated.
We post ration history and reference material daily on our FB page.
Amazing how good that still looks. I wouldn't eat it for less than $1k but still.
I'd eat it for free. Good eating right here. Biscuits are hearty, coffee is still good and those sandwich cookies are some of the best you'll ever have. I used this one for long-term display of contents, but I have others. I'll pop one open and do a different video actually eating the contents.
Very cool!!!
Dehydrated onions and chilli seasoning... they should bring those back in MRE'S ! 🙂
No matches?
That was is great condition! Thanks or opening and sharing!
Very cool friend. Been A while since I saw one of these opened. It looks remarkedly well preserved. Nice. Peace, John.
Excellent review, surprised to see it in such decent condition
These will be listed on our Etsy and eBay shops in the next couple weeks, replacing our older style reusable cans!
Wow this is awesome! Love the reusable can, looks like it’s sealed even though you can just pop the lid right off!
Part of our 2025 goal is to have two options for our K and C rations, fully authentic experience with single use products OR reusable with very limited visual variances from originals (i.e. reusable cans, resealable beverage sachets)
Looks like reproduction
Probably why it says reproduction in the description. We make these.
Wow
Heck yeah 👍 great stuff!
Hero Rations makes reusable metal cans for B and M units from WW2. Original cans were single use and made with a twist key opening which is no longer made. Unlike other C Rations, these cans are custom made in size to be 3x3.5” just like originals. Reusability and correct size and stamping and contents = perfect for reenactors and living historians

bros in his 1900
awsome
Seeing it say supper is surreal. I ate alot of MREs when i was in Iraq and i honestly love them. There is always a few that suck but its very few. That was 2004 they have even better ones now. I was lucky enough as a kid to get a C-rat from a neighbor who was a soldier. Not good, it was some tuna fish soup or some shit lol. Long time ago, i know i cooked it wrong. That was probably 1994
Good ol crusty biscuits 😋 lol
It's even got a couple of Chesterfield cigarettes with it 👍💯
My uncles called K rations Kennel Rations.
Very cool. Nicely packaged. Peace, John.
Very cool friend. I need to find one of these repros. Do you still produce them? Peace, John.
@@MultiMagnum62 yes we produce these
Amazing value😂
This is pretty cool and underrated as frick (I don't want to be demonetized)
Not 100% sure but I think the chocolate may have been repackaged. I don't recall too much plastic wrap packaging in the 1940s. This is why the cardboard packaging has the wax coating, to try to keep air out.
This is a reproduction we produce as in the description. Cellophane was the norm for internal packaging of D Rations that were inside the waxed carton.
Those were in pretty good condition for their age!
"In case you wanted to see" YES! Definitely haha. Thanks for the video
Very cool!! I thought they would be worse than that!!! Thanks for sharing
Brave man! I have a pile of mci but have yet to open one
That was a big hiss!! The can looked to be in great condition! Thanks for sharing!
Nice hiss... 😁
No sugar?
@@leighrate there is sugar from c&h in the can. Neat packaging too
Better to be left unopened in that condition. Ya never know til you get it opened though, ha.
@@RoSR with the surface rust we chose this one for the contents - we’re working on a full RCI display so we have a sealed set of cans, this was an extra and in poor condition on the outside. Fortunately we were able to clean up the inner contents from this can and make a kick ass display. See the comments here: facebook.com/share/r/c4HHJ2QWvUr23jfD/?mibextid=UalRPS
