I ve just finished chapter one - great start
Nobody seems to have any suspicions about the uncle- who seems to have given free reign of the house to Mr. Quint. He deliberately chooses an ingenue as governess, and seems to approve of the fact that as a clergyman's daughter, she would be a a well indoctrinated Christian. The care of her brothers and sisters ensures that she has the experience to be a naive but nurturing presence.
The narrator comes across as silly and melodramatic. I lost patience and DNF it.
Great review!I have only read 2 of his books before:A grief observed and mere Christianity. Both were fascinating reads and after watching your review of this book , I feel that I definitely need to add this book to my list of books I want to read.Just curious , have you read any of CS Lewis's other works and which is your favourite?
Great review! After watching your review of this book , I definitely need to pick up this book in the future.I have only read one of his books before(Mere Christianity)and enjoyed it a lot.Just curious , what CS Lewis book is your favourite or havent you read any of his other books?Another great book about grief and loss is Rainer Maria Rilke's book called The dark interval.

before you start talking about "ugly reality" of that time period it would be really great if you realised the "ugly reality" of our time period. When analphabets start discussing classical novels better to cover your years...

Thank you for your review~ I am in the process of reading this book as well as Love and Responsibility by the same author. Do you have goodreads account? I would like to follow your readings there! Thanks again
What a cute creature.
This book or the video of it is junk. It's purported to tell the story from an animals perspective but still dictated by human. Its conclusion has no value. There is no need to write a story about how a knife can't cut itself. In this aspect George Ordwell failed.
Cheers. All in her head
I liked this book a lot although there was at least one thing I didn´t agree with. I loved the messages, the plot, the description of the place and the end. C.S Lewis was an amazing writer.
Great video! I appreciated the comment on happiness requiring other people. The trinity is an expression of how the very nature of love requires a lover, a loved, and the love between them (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Always great to see that highlighted in literature!
Oops, sorry about the mistake at the beginning of the video where I say the book is non-fiction!
Domcia!! Your editing has gotten so much better since you started. I'm super proud of you. :')

Allow me to share my best friend's story of true hope. I pray it is a help to you. Precious Memories-By Sonya Lakey Family Story Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day. My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening. That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are. Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you. His Story Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23) “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12) He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell. “For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price] “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b) Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour! “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28) Your Story What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son. The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready? “...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31b) “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “(...behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2c) ****************************** This testimony has been made into a tract form as well, so if you or your church are interested in having them to pass out, please go to libertyfaith.net and you will find the contact info there. Hi Dama, James from Kenya here. Thanks for how you let me into your world of books that it may become mine too. I'm curious to know, how do you finally settle on the books to read among the many that you come across and how are you able to focus on the books that you've set your eyes on before moving on to others. Though I've improved a lot,for me, I experience a kind of being pulled in all directions in the face of the 'sea' of beautiful books that I come across. I'd also love to hear when and how you read your books. Thanks, sorry if it's too much to ask.

It's been a few years since I read those but have started reading Christie again. It seems you enjoy the character of Hercule Poirot. If you get a chance to watch an episode or one of the movies with David Suchet as Poirot. Perfect, spot on portrayal.
Great, thank you for the suggestion! :) Which Agatha Christie books would you recommend I read next?
I realize I'm late to this party but And Then There Were None is not only my favorite Christie book but in my top 3 favorite books I've ever read. I read this in 1980 and has been very influential in my reading tastes. Great video.
Really? And how did it end up in the top 3? 😊 thank you!
@@ofbooksandsoul9154 I was 14 when I read it. I had always been interested in atmospheric whodunits. Read the back and when you have 10 secluded individuals that start to get murdered one by one following a poem, I was all in. And the ending, unexpected. That book has always stayed with me. Started me on my path to reading on a regular basis. It's what I needed at that moment. I recommend it to anyone that likes or wants to read a mystery. I do prefer the book ending over the play. I liked your summary because you described the metaphors directly but without applying to various political regimes which most analyst try to do superficially. It’s important to note where it was published, for example it was not published in the Soviet Union, so we can expect it to need to be framed suitable to not criticism our own established power. Nevertheless, the original introduction (which very few have read) to Animal Farm that Orwell wished to publish with the book, he stated that it was as much anti-British as anything else because the propaganda systems here in Britain are just as effective, and systems of power just as separate to public representation as anywhere else. In his words, the local methods of coercion are more subtle and clever though through processes that include rampant indoctrination starting from preschool, filtering and framing facts, selection during a journalist career to weed out “difficult” people asking actual questions, and that “it wouldn’t do to say” (literally Orwell’s words) certain things. This introduction was censored ironically (exactly as he was describing in the introduction itself) and even with his introduction removed, Orwell obviously had no choice but to frame the book in a way that suited establishment under the publishers, and various edits were necessary. Look it up for yourself by searching “original introduction to animal farm”. Quite separately to this while Animal Farm is very clearly a deserved satire on the Soviet Union, its greatest criticism of the Russian leaders is that they sold out socialist principle to accommodate themselves with capitalist countries ("The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which”).
This book or the video of it is junk. It's purported to tell the story from an animals perspective but still dictated by human. Its conclusion has no value. There is no need to write a story about how a knife can't cut itself. In this aspect George Ordwell failed.

As you highlight, Mr Rushworth was very rich. Indeed, he had an annual income of £12,000, a vast sum at the time. He says that his grounds covered ‘a good seven hundred” acres. Hence his estate is often said to total 700 acres but this figure refers to his very large park, not his entire estate, most of which would have consisted of land farmed by tenants. For instance, Swinton Park, an estate in North Yorkshire, has a park of 200 acres but the whole estate covers 20,000.
