Pioneer Playhouse: The Search for Tinker Doyle
I was an actor there back in 1991. Ebben was full of Shite. Robbie ran the show, and Eben was never around. He was a narcissist and would pick on the older women actresses, and typically corner them and insult them, or make an inappropriate comment.. several times I witnessed one of the Senior actresses crying after he would pop in and pepper them with verbal abuse. I was there. I knew these individuals intimately. I knew Robbie well. I was in two plays. I was only 19. Every afternoon Robbie, me and two other actors would play pick up basketball games at center college basketball gym. I stopped in at the Playhouse in 2009 during the spring, and spoke with Charlotte and she invited me to eat lunch outside. just so happened, that Robbie was there as well and we all had lunch. He pretended he didn’t remember me, like a smart ass, I said to him “that’s funny because Charlotte remembers who I am.”
Beautiful…❤
Spalding Gray has inspired my work for my entire career. Thank you for this beautiful film.
Fantastic! A far cry from "Paw! Paw!"
Will never forget my time there, great experience! Class mate of Holly's and miss her. Here's to another 75 years!

“Paw, does this tux look alright?” ”Mark, you look all grown up, son!
Simply superb. Johnny was my neighbor for a while, until his illness and passing. A wonderful man. We’d stop and chat when he was out gardening
What a combination if he could have teamed up with Pokey Lafarge for just one album.
Love it!

I was one of those playwrights in the prison. It changed my life and now I’m traveling the world filming and directing, a free man.
Really enjoyed this. Good choice of old time songs. Tony Randal used to do some of these old songs

Goodbye Johnny. What a class act.
God bless you,Johnny.Rest in Peace with your Heavenly Father and your best friend,Chuck Connors.
It looks like Johnny is conducting with a drumstick instead of a baton. He must have left it at home that day.
Thank you, Johnny, for giving us memorable, beautiful music. You will not be forgotten by your loyal and appreciative fans.
Rest in peace, great sir. And thank you...
Mark McCain
I was privileged to meet Spalding Gray back in 2001. He preformed "Interviewing the Audience" in Ann Arbor Michigan, in December of that year. It was odd, I had been a fan of his work for quite some time, but when he came up to talk to me in the lobby before the show I did not recognize him. Half way through the conversation, I did, and when I did he said it was too bad...he liked interviewing people who didn't know his work. But he wound up calling me up to the stage and I was interviewed by him for over an hour! We talked about my job at a home for abused kids in Detroit, my thoughts on 9-11 and living in the Cambodian neighborhood in Long Beach with Dr. Haing S. Ngor (who starred in the Killing Fields) as a neighbor and my own experiences visiting Thailand and the Gulf War in the Navy. After the show, my friends and I ran into him waiting for his car. He was really nice and we talked for an hour. When he died I was very sad, it was like losing a friend...his monologues gave us a big window into his life. And I am richer for it.
He’s got the 1930’s sound down pat. 👏🏻
Mark McCain knows how to .
i have missed so much of this man. loving his music.
Fantastic band and Johnny Crawford. Wish I could have seen him and his band live. I love the big band era and songs.. and Johnny and his band did a superb job of bringing it back.. A+ JOHNNY AND THE BAND.. What a class act he has been his whole life Love Johnny Crawford..
Thank you for providing this.
Just found this through the Facebook Johnny Crawford Legacy page. This song is based on the story of how his grandparents met. Grandfather Bobby Crawford was music publishing legend "Bobby Crawford was to music publishing what Joe DiMaggio was to baseball." He managed Irving Berlin's catalog before going out on his own.
Wow Johny an swing I am from the 70,s so i am a Rocker ,but this is excellent music , very enjoyable and pleasant !!!!!
